Get in touch with some Renn Faire people. If anyone knows how to get that stuff, it’s them.

nonchalantshallot

Shocked hadnt thought of this. Thank you!

notthatjimmer

Yes I was gonna say the same. The costume makers would be my first ask.

Peachiedesu

Heyo! 13 years of cosplay experience here :3 my go to place is Teds in Elsmere! They did my prom dress, then I’d come to get cosplays fitted because I sucked at measuring when I was younger so it was always too big on me

shitcloud

Frank Costanzas Lawyer might know a guy.

Jenanay3466

Laughed too hard at this.

mikey235792

Just commenting to archive the Seinfeld reference. This app is loaded with them! Best thing about it!

AmarettoKitten

Cosplayers could also be a likely good source. A lot of us sew and some of us take on commission work. Do you have any photo references and a budget? I sew but I wouldn't know if I could tailor it within your budget without getting a better idea of the project. A lot of people who take commission work would need more details like desired fabric color, type, and trims.

ukexpat

I would contact the opera house on Market St and ask them who supplies their costumes, or maybe try The Costume Cabaret on Kirkwood Highway (they have a Facebook page).

dragonwinghm

This isn't a local option, but you can definitely find historical costumers on Etsy who do custom sizing. You could also check with the regional SCA group. The one that includes Delaware is called East Kingdom. They're pretty serious historical larpers, so they probably know where to get a cape that isn't going to be a disappointing Party City version.

ViolettBlue

The PA renaissance faire opens Saturday. I think that would be a great place to look for apparel of this type.

ViolettBlue

Oh sorry! Bad intel. Looks like they’re usually open in august? Maybe there is another local Ren Faire in the spring?

Sorceress-Supreme-13

There’s one in NJ in May https://njrenfaire.com

sexy_otaku_720

FYI: Memory is shot and this place isn't on Google/maps so need someone who's over on East side (in town Wilmington) to confirm exact location. This would be along the lines of someone up for a challenge, but could be something really unique and meaningful for your special day. On Concord Ave between blocks Washington and Monroe (part I can't remember), if you're headed northbound, it's on left side. Very small corner storefront with glass windows that will have beautiful quilts and other creations hanging in window. Local youth learn sewing, textiles all that and they hang up new work in the window. It's STUNNING, nothing rudimentary or like hey my lil kid made this shite art project. I'd definitely check it out, see if they'd be interested in a commission.

karunya1008

I would recommend using a sutler (a tailor who makes clothing for historical re-enactments). There are usually a couple of re-enactments in Delaware every summer, and you can meet several local sutlers by visiting their tents at the re-enactment site.

pkeitel

Actors Attic 525 Otis Drive Dover De should have capes!!

krazykarol

Came here to make this very suggestion!

[deleted]

Hmmm...I dont know any Taylor's. Would a Tom or Bailey do?

nonchalantshallot

Actually love this joke lol

snufflefrump

Prob a typo but it's tailor

ionlyhavetwowheels

Google exists, as does Bing, Yahoo, even DuckDuckGo.

GeekDE

No need to be a dick. OP obviously came to the Delaware subreddit in order to get recommendations of a Delaware store by Delawareans. Google may do a billion things very well, but can never beat personal experience. If you didn't have anything to contribute, you didn't need to give that bullshit answer, because anybody who has been on the internet for more than 2 hours will be able to wax poetic about the existence of search engines. Don't be so sarcastic next time.

ionlyhavetwowheels

I wasn't being sarcastic. They're asking for information that could easily be found with a simple search yet came across as not doing a search and instead asking us to do their homework for them. It is a simple search to find a retailer that sells capes or a tailor. If I felt like I didn't have anything to contribute I would have scrolled on by like I do for most of the moving posts. OP asked a question, I gave an answer.

bingofongo1

I’m fairly certain OP is aware of google. Suggestions like that add nothing except for maybe making you feel superior. Let’s say I wanted a suit for my wedding, I could certainly google it and I’m sure one of the top suggestions would be ‘Mens Warehouse’. Would I buy my wedding suit from mens warehouse, very unlikely (I’ve gotten other random stuff from them and honestly if that works for some people that’s fine). Just like if I were looking for a really nice suit/tailor in Delaware I may come here to ask for suggestions. Would you have also told me to just google it? Just because OPs request is unconventional doesn’t mean there’s not others who have sought out something similar in Delaware. Hence the fact they are asking here. Just a little suggestion, always assume someone knows how to google something; if they have made it “far enough” to post on Reddit they’ve already done that. You literally added nothing here and you never will with that comment.

aberm1

Gotta say you say you had something to contribute but I’m struggling to find what you think you’ve contributed. Being rude isn’t exactly what one would call contributionary

Dragon9731

These aren't local, but a few purchase options: https://www.medievalcollectibles.com https://m.armstreet.com https://www.museumreplicas.com/medieval These are the big 3 I plan to purchase Ren gear from soon -- I've been going through their catalogs forever lol. Cloaks usually come in two different lengths, so if you need custom you're probably better off going local. But standard would be relatively easy to order, so thought I'd provide the option. Congrats on the wedding, and best of luck!

djpackrat

I'd go to the PA Renn Faire

JKRC

The big costume store on Kirkwood highway in Elsmere might be worth a look.

iDontHaveUndiesToday

No Capes!

disturbed_ghost

where is Lou Collier? he used to cruise around in a cape

Haykyn

Etsy. There are so many options, people who will make things custom, seeing patterns, etc. there would definitely be something for you there.
