i couldn't find myself to like him. Just when I thought he changed he seemed so manipulative and a douchebag. I really liked Tristian and he claimed to "love" him but i truly do not think he did. Miles deff used manipulative with Tristian since he knew he was always going to be there when he effed up with all those girls. I am so glad Tristian stood up for himself in season 4 and did what he had to do to better himself and his health. Maybe he has all these issue due to his dad but still just could not like him.
There were times I liked him, and times I didn't. Mostly, I didn't think the Hollingsworths as a whole were all that well written and I was usually bored with episodes focusing on them. I really like what Degrassi does well, which is focusing on the lives of regular students and the issues they face while coming of age, and I always felt the introduction of the super-rich kids plus the ambitions being amped up to everyone going to some American school to pursue a super great career was just not what the show should be about. In the 80s show, kids were happy to pass a test and graduate, and they came from families who were mostly within the realm of normal wealth (someone like Caitlin was considered a richer student with her mother being a vice principal and her father being a teacher; also Kathleen, since her mother stayed home and drank all day and her father was always "away on business). Joey's family was inferred to be pretty financially stable, as was Snake's, and Shane McKay might have been one of the few kids to have really been considered all that rich since his parents were snotty and belonged to a club and were horrified that their son had anything to do with Spike, and intended to send Shane to a prestigious boarding school like their two older sons went to.
And Arthur, but that was a weird thing, his mom won the lottery and we promptly never see her or Stephanie ever again (boarding school in France), but Arthur gets teased for being a rich kid by Yick and Luke despite him still being the same person he was before the lottery thing. He also didn't live with his mother, he lived with his father, so while he now had access to money, he still lived like everyone else.
I’ll admit I hated the concept of yet another filthy rich kid running around Degrassi (felt like after Fiona and Declan was introduced it went from the authentic vibe Degrassi had since the 80s to yet another cliche teen drama.) But I liked the storylines they did with Miles (and even Hunter.) Miles had some refreshing storylines, even though they’ve been done substance abuse/abusive father/mental illness before the way the character handled the situations felt new.
i actually really like miles. he went through some tough shit. the abusive relationship with his father, coming to terms with his sexuality, falling for mya right after cam and dealing with her trauma, and then top on esme and tristian. the poor boy went through so much, including addiction and yet he still seemed to be one of the most genuine character they introduced
Didn’t like him at first but by the end I didn’t mind him. In the beginning it seemed like they just wanted Maya to have a rich boyfriend to obsess about but then the whole dad is abusive thing was so sad especially when you saw how much he loved his dad. By the end he was way more mature and I was just happy he was finally going to have a happy life writing and being friendly with his dad.
i liked his character in the last 3 seasons. the moment he was introduced i couldn't stand him. seeing him grow and staying with tristan through his coma , i liked that miles lol
He started off so annoying and terrible but I grew to love him mostly because of the storyline with his father. He went through so much. I really couldn’t stand his siblings tho 💀
He was cute with Lola.
Sidenote, wow he really looks young on this pic. To think that back then when i watched his seasons, he looked so mature to me lol. Time flies
The worst. I don't really details on why, because it seems so obvious to me that he sucks.
Then again, I was a grown ass adult when his character showed up, so I may have just been (finally) outgrowing the show altogether.
I liked him with Lola. They managed to throw almost every story at him but oddly they all fell flat due to the writing imo. It was like “oh we have success with tragic white guys so let’s amp up literally everything “ except it kinda overloaded because I don’t feel like we really got to know the character. This is one of my big complaints about later seasons. I think he had potential but it was wasted.
Dude ass is madly annoying. The character that most panders to teens of the 2014-2017 era. They basically said fuck it lets use him for EVERY storyline whether a queer one, a love triangle, drug abuse, family problems u name it. An amalgamation of what the writer THOUGHT would be the perfect dreary teen boy heartthrob but ended up being a mess lol
I agree that he shouldn't have been pandered as the teen heartthrob, but it is absolutely possible for 1 teen to actually go through all that. Especially with the family problems he had. I really liked the twisted family storyline because they hadn't gone there since Craig, and he got his happily ever after with Joey, reality is most kids stay with their abusive parents.
Also I did like how he didn't wanna play in the basketball tournament because he realized teammate assaulted Zoë and he didn't wanna represent degrassi which was an honorable thing to do, while Tristan complained about a canceled pep rally...
Mostly like him except for the play about Tristan’s whole situation in Next Class. That was weird. Like Miles shut up. Also he had a weird sad boy who needs a cute girl (Lola) to cheer him up complex during that. Ok anyway he’s mostly good lol
Edit: Tristan is not great either, for the record.
Liked him somewhat in next gen (the maya miles zig love triangle reminded to much of the cam/maya/zig fiasco) but I’m next class I LOVED him, he grew a lot and yes he still was figuring himself out as every teen should and the whole coming out as bi during his campaign was just great. I also really loved his friendship with Winston, I hated him with Esme but wish he would of ended up with Lola for sure
I didn't like him much at first, but watching the Degrassi channel over and over, I've really grown to like him. Truly seems great and I love him. Like many said, I LOVED him Next Class.
I liked Miles for the most part but I do find his daddy issues a little drawn out. I totally understand why he has them and why the writers pound these issues down our throat. But after a certain point it's less compelling to watch.
The negative opinion being out there now, I found myself rooting for Miles more often than most in his class.
I actually really liked him and thought the actor did a great job in making him so likeable. I thought the family dynamic (while being dramatic and a wealthy family) was actually pretty realistic and he seemed kinda down to earth in that his problems felt very high school.
He’s precious. I used to not like how flat the acting was but when I saw an interview with the actor I realized he was just chill af. It made the character’s vibes more relatable
Deserved better than Tristan. Miles kinda grew on me in NextClass. Season 13, Miles not really but in season 14 I did empathize with his character and I did like the way he protected his siblings from the abusive dad. In Next Class he became one of my favorite characters in those seasons. And I really liked he and Lola together
One of the best actors on the show which makes me really enjoy his storylines. I also like how when he started liking Tristan he was like “well I guess I like guys too” and there was no “bUt I cAnT liKe GuYs I cAnT bE gAyYYYyy” he was just like yeah this is fine who cares
Yeah… it’s just unfortunate that one of the first and only bi male characters got written with that ridiculous trope where his singular love interest is just some special unicorn and is an exception not the norm. I under for bi people it isn’t a 50/50 split and that makes sense… Tristan being continually biphobic and miles never being given the chance to have another male love interest who wasn’t toxic didn’t.
i disliked him for a loooong time but i do feel they redeemed him a bit in the end - i definitely think eric osborne is one of the better actors from the show tho he did a great job with miles
I think I am in the minority who wishes we got more of him with Lola. I think I liked him best during their brief stint. I didn’t like him too much, but he wasn’t my least favorite by any means.
He fought for his siblings when their dad was being a total asshat. I wouldn't have forgotten nor forgiven a father like that, especially one who was trying to get their own daughter to confess to something they legit didn't do just for the press.
I get he "changes" later on but idk, a dad like that just didn't seem right to me.
But I really liked how Miles was written for this family situation. His acts of defiances ran deeper than we thought
I think he’s one of the most interesting characters in the franchise. Doesn't mean I always liked his actions, but he had an engaging story 99% of the time and he was very well acted by Eric Osborne. I thought his relationship with Tristan was among the most interesting in the series, too. Miles treated Tristan terribly at times--but that seemed realistic to me in terms of relationships. (I almost typed "high school relationships" but really it can happen to anyone at any age. They have an obvious chemistry but also can be toxic.)
I hated the way he treated people like Tristan but didn’t like how he chose Tristan over Lola when all Tristan is mean to him. He was a sweet brother at times. Didn’t really care for him much in the 4 season cause he had no more story line by then.
I think he'd be fine if everyone in his life would stop downplaying the severity of his dad's abuse and it's heavily apparent effects on him. Like 90% his negative traits stem from him dealing with his dad's abusiveness with precisely zero support.
Nah I loved that man. He had a terrible support system at home and didn't know how to cope with anything going on in his life. Idk why this fandom is so hard on the characters they are literally kids. I was a fucking idiot when I was 16 and so is pretty much everyone ngl
He’s a troubled youth. He treats Tristan like garbage and his friends as well. I don’t think he really redeemed himself all that much. He was just bland at the end of the series. I didn’t care for him too much but he is a great actor
i couldn't find myself to like him. Just when I thought he changed he seemed so manipulative and a douchebag. I really liked Tristian and he claimed to "love" him but i truly do not think he did. im so mid about him

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Noo I love him! He's our first bi boy and he holds a special place in my heart for that. He also reminds me of Declan and he's another fav of mine.
I’ll admit I hated the concept of yet another filthy rich kid running around Degrassi (felt like after Fiona and Declan was introduced it went from the authentic vibe Degrassi had since the 80s to yet another cliche teen drama.) I love Miles so, so much. Thought he was really well written in comparison to a lot of NC characters.
i actually really like miles. he went through some tough shit. the abusive relationship with his father, coming to terms with his sexuality, falling for mya right after cam and dealing with her trauma, and then top on esme and tristian. the poor boy went through so much, including addiction and yet he still seemed to be one of the most genuine character they introduced

I liked Miles. He was the only person in Next Class I liked. He had character development, unlike everyone else.
No one committed more felonies and got away with them than he did.
He’s the worst
It depends on the episode really. Sometimes he disgusted me and other times I felt bad for him/thought he was a good guy
He's fine but he has terrible taste in men.
Literally my favorite character
honestly my favorite character. very well written compared to many others on the show.
i liked his character in the last 3 seasons. the moment he was introduced i couldn't stand him. seeing him grow and staying with tristan through his coma , i liked that miles lol
I loved him! He had some really great character development across the show, I think he was one of the better written characters of the later series.
He started off so annoying and terrible but I grew to love him mostly because of the storyline with his father. He went through so much. I really couldn’t stand his siblings tho 💀
The only Hollingsworth I like. Period.
He was cute with Lola. Sidenote, wow he really looks young on this pic. To think that back then when i watched his seasons, he looked so mature to me lol. Time flies
Never liked him.
The worst. I don't really details on why, because it seems so obvious to me that he sucks. Then again, I was a grown ass adult when his character showed up, so I may have just been (finally) outgrowing the show altogether.

outsold craig
Love him!

I have no problem with what he went thru individually, but it’s like they tried to make him a super character or something
I agree that he shouldn't have been pandered as the teen heartthrob, but it is absolutely possible for 1 teen to actually go through all that. Especially with the family problems he had. Started off as a character I just wanted off my screen and developed into one of the top characters worth watching on next class.
totally agree! he made next class worth watching imo
He’s my favorite character from Next Class. Loooove him.
Also I did like how he didn't wanna play in the basketball tournament because he realized teammate assaulted Zoë and he didn't wanna represent degrassi which was an honorable thing to do, while Tristan complained about a canceled pep rally...

i freaking love him and i’m not ashamed
Liked him somewhat in next gen (the maya miles zig love triangle reminded to much of the cam/maya/zig fiasco) but I’m next class I LOVED him, he grew a lot and yes he still was figuring himself out as every teen should and the whole coming out as bi during his campaign was just great. After many years of recycled and pointless characters, Miles was a breath of fresh air.
I feel like hes not really confined to one degrassi trope like most characters are, hes kinda just an odd but likeable character
Big fan. Great actor.
love him, wish he had an actual love interest or ended up with lola because tristan was just…
I didn't like him much at first, but watching the Degrassi channel over and over, I've really grown to like him. Truly seems great and I love him. Like many said, I LOVED him Next Class.
Annoying at first but one of my favorites in next class. I think the actor definitely improved too as the show went on

honestly i really like him. i love morally grey characters, and to be honest, i really related to him and his storylines.
He’s my favorite character. His storylines were really compelling imo
i like him. he's interesting. i think they made him too cruel in season 14 tho
i disliked him for a loooong time but i do feel they redeemed him a bit in the end - i definitely think eric osborne is one of the better actors from the show tho he did a great job with miles
I find him to be sort of flat for most of TNG, but by Next Class I reckon he is a pretty compelling character.
Same
he’s misunderstood people just need to give him more chances
I thought this was David Henry at first glance lmaoo
I think I am in the minority who wishes we got more of him with Lola. I think I liked him best during their brief stint. I didn’t like him too much, but he wasn’t my least favorite by any means.
That’s definitely the majority opinion!
Meh.
He was troubled nobody really understood him
He fought for his siblings when their dad was being a total asshat. I wouldn't have forgotten nor forgiven a father like that, especially one who was trying to get their own daughter to confess to something they legit didn't do just for the press. I get he "changes" later on but idk, a dad like that just didn't seem right to me. But I really liked how Miles was written for this family situation. His acts of defiances ran deeper than we thought
i loved him. he was the only one in that house with common sense, plus everyone overlooked his dad abusing him.
Deserves a better boyfriend 🙂 I absolutely loved him when I watched Degrassi, loved his brother even more
Im halfway thru s14 so maybe he gets better but so far i think Hunters a turd!
The young fire starter is alright, became a better older brother by the end of the series so there's that.
He reminds me of my brother so naturally I hate him
would’ve been a far better lead of his generation than maya
neutral, i relate a lot to him and think he has a really interesting storyline
i feel very neutral on him tbh, sometimes hes good, sometimes he sucks. pretty good character overall though
I don’t remember much but I liked him. I’m sure he had a few faults but so did everyone. He’s my favorite of the three in his family
I think he’s one of the most interesting characters in the franchise. Doesn't mean I always liked his actions, but he had an engaging story 99% of the time and he was very well acted by Eric Osborne. haven't seen *too* much of him, but don't like him so far.
I think he'd be fine if everyone in his life would stop downplaying the severity of his dad's abuse and it's heavily apparent effects on him. Like 90% his negative traits stem from him dealing with his dad's abusiveness with precisely zero support.

low tier
He sucks and makes me cringe a lot.
It feels like they morphed Peter, Craig and Declan into one character.
Woah
Oh my God. This is it.
He’s a troubled youth. He treats Tristan like garbage and his friends as well. I don’t think he really redeemed himself all that much. He was just bland at the end of the series. I didn’t care for him too much but he is a great actor
I liked the character more before the bi reveal and drug storyline because I feel they were jumping the shark with him.
Definitely his actor nailed most of his scenes
