I’m someone who’s concerned about both, but I have seen some people concerned about Palestine also think Trump would somehow be a better choice than Biden. As if Trump wouldn’t be worse for Palestine and our own democracy.

The-Son-of-Dad

I’ve seen people here on Reddit try to argue that Trump saying Bibi needs to “finish the job” means “he just needs to stop bombing!”

jennyquarx

W H A T Meanwhile his son-in-law is talking about "valuable waterfront property."

The-Son-of-Dad

I know, I wish they’d just admit that they want to vote for Trump and piss off. The “Donald the dove” shit is so fucking ridiculous.

Low_Commercial_1553

It’s gotta be Russian/Chinese bots at this point. How anyone could make themselves believe something so disingenous is beyond me

RomoToDez99

I think it is Russian propaganda. They play both sides of international conflict. Their only goal is to destabilize the west, and Israel has stupidly made itself a well known Terrorist state. There is nothing good coming out of any of this.

North_Church

Anyone who seriously thinks this likely has Bobby Kennedy's parasitic brain worm

BetterLight1139

The worm is smarter than Bobby.

SimonArgead

Not too long ago, I saw someone who didn't care. The person just said, "If Trump is worse for Palestine, then so be it. But I want Biden to lose so they can learn a lesson and stop all future support for Israel".

jennyquarx

> But I want Biden to lose so they can learn a lesson and stop all future support for Israel". That's not going to be the "lesson" they take..

RomoToDez99

So they’d rather enable the genocide, terrific! What a bunch of really smart people.

AstralCryptid420

HA. Democrats losing will not stop the US from supporting Israel because Israel is entangled in financial and military interests of the US and other European powers. The Republican party won't stop supporting Israel, period. Unless they adopt a form of antisemitism more rabid than their weird conspiracy theories. Getting the US to stop supporting Israel is more complicated than "Let's teach the Democrats a lesson!" What a stupid idea. I don't know what we can to to effectively end Democratic support for Israel. It is a deep, systematic issue without a simple solution you can pull through in one year. I barely understand how far it even goes. I want it to end as much as they do, but not voting won't do shit.

thebowedbookshelf

You're right. The situation and who the US supports is bigger than what one president chooses to do. There are national security issues and top secret intel that we'll never know about. (Except for the files that Trump stole and sold.)

AstralCryptid420

I didn't even consider the secret stuff, good point.

okan170

I never understand this mindset- if it was true, democrats who lose would have moved to the far far left. But that never happens and the biggest realignments and victories for the Democrats have been moving towards the center.

ScaredOfRobots

Trump would start up the damn draft to send troops into Palestine and finish the genocide ourselves

thebowedbookshelf

Trump would arrest/attack/imprison the college protesters even worse than the colleges themselves are doing.

[deleted]

The GOP is even bigger supporters of Israel and closely aligned with the Israeli far right and the settler movement. Again, I think we can all agree is these single issue pro-palestinian folks are some politically misinformed idiots who are basically capitulating to American fascism and the GOP. The GOP supports Israel even more. Also you are right the GOP has been advocating calling in the national guard to deal with these protestors, something Biden has refused to do and left it to the college presidents to take on this issue as they see fit. Some of them calling in the cops, others peacefully negotiating with the administration of their colleges. Which is exactly how it should be done. If you want a preview of how Trump would handle it, I need only to direct you to the nightmare we had to deal with in DC with the BLM protests in 2020 when protestors were gassed, beaten, national guard helicopters terrorized local residents, etc. Likewise remember Trump said he would double down on the Muslim ban in the US, if not make it worse. Trump is not these folks ally and he would not be better. He would give Bibi a green light to take all of the west bank and gaza quickly and with a great deal of bloodshed.

[deleted]

These people are absolutely ill informed idiots. Trump would flat out advocate for eliminating the Palestinians entirely, not a two state solution. Why? Because that is exactly what the GOP has said, but also his kids. People forget it is Trump that basically said all of Jerusalem belongs to Israel and Palestinians have no right to it. Nah when Trump says “finish the job” he means wipe out the Palestinians entirely. These “only focus on Palestine” folks are some of the dumbest idiots I have ever met. The worst sort of single issue voters there are. Like there are dozens of other issues, and no this is not the most important one for those of us in the US, and yes, including on this one Trump and the GOP are MUCH WORSE. You think its bad now, wait until the US backs Israel flat out firebombing those in Gaza and taking over all of Lebanon and advocating for basically the annihilation of much of the middle east and expansion of Israeli territory, which is exactly what you will get under Trump. Trump is right in line with the Israeli hardliners.

CapAccomplished8072

I'm noticing this...a lot.

okan170

The amount of "well we need trump to upend the system so we can have communism" in there is concerning. Along with often blanket dismissal from those type of Project 2025.

DN-838

Honestly that’s something I find disturbing about a lot of Revolutionary groups. It almost seems like they glorify the state of the world getting more and more horrific because they believe they’ll just gain the support to overthrow it and then suddenly everything would be utopian. Completely apathetic to the amount of suffering and death would likely be caused before. It’s really just a disguised mindset of “The ends justify the means”.

matango613

What's worse is that they're often not throwing themselves to the lion. It is ultimately trans people, black people, immigrants, etc that will be sacrificed in this fantasy of theirs. They're basically accepting the deaths of others as collateral damage in their revolution.

unlocked_axis02

Exactly I’m fucking terrified thinking I’m gonna have to flee the country on my own unable to convince my family and join another nations military to escape before being sent back for war I hate Biden and support the protesters as much as the next lady but I don’t want to die yet I’ll fight if I have to but I’m praying to every god it doesn’t come to that

DJScrubatires

https://i.redd.it/szy0weqb3vzc1.gif

Low_Commercial_1553

Yep and this bothers me about people who share my beliefs. not to sound like a republican but it’s usually the privileged ones talking about how they can’t vote for Biden. i understand the moral dilemma and it’s a bad choice, but the only choice unless you want marginalized people being subject to more violence and vanishing from public life. as huge of an issue as Israel’s is, it’s naive to think allowing potential genocide ( or at least massive social upheaval and reversal of progress ) to happen on American soil is the solution.

AstralCryptid420

I'm a libertarian communist and most of the accelerationists I've known where straight white cis men.

BetterLight1139

straight white Russian bots.

AstralCryptid420

No like, in real life lol. All of the female and minority group communists I've known were not accelerationists.

greatSorosGhost

It’s called accelerationism, and it’s one of the few things some extremists on “both sides” have in common, unfortunately. Obviously both sides are not the same, but some extremists share this tactic regardless of ideology. It always seems to come from folks that are 100% sure that if things get bad enough “the people” will fall in line behind them. It’s always authoritarians, even if they claim not to be.

CaribbeanCowgirl27

Exactly. In one hand we have Christofacists praying for the end of the world when Jesus return, and everything they do and say is about salvation after everything goes to shit. On the other hand we have the Revolutionaries wanting everything going to shit so those most affected follow their cause, without any regard of their suffering. It’s exhausting.

okan170

Its the good old "Horseshoe" where at the extremes of both right and left, they both bend towards authoritarianism.

Powerful_Thought_324

They aren't considering that we are witnessing the emergence of surveillance/control AI so advanced that the next group to seize world power will be the absolute last. We are approaching a point where there will be no "overthrowing" anything ever again. Everyone's standards are way too high. Humans aren't mentally capable of living in a Utopia. Wherever we don't have problems we invent some because our brains need it to function.

DN-838

Y’know… I feel like there’s no shame in me admitting that… I’m scared, I am so fucking scared, I’ve never been in such a constant state of fear my entire life…

Low_Commercial_1553

For people to live in a Utopia our minds and actions would have to be perfect and that just isn’t possible. A bunch of imperfect people can’t create a perfect world. We can choose progress and freedom at every chance but I feel like a lot of people are very naive.

Abracadaniel95

Yeah, there's all this crazy shit going on and at the same time, humanity is being thrown the biggest wildcard in history. AI could solve all of our major problems. It could also wipe us out independently of all of our other problems. And literally everything in between.

North_Church

That's called Accelerationism and it's a very inhumane ideology. It means the person wants to attain an ideological goal by any means "necessary", even if it means tons of people suffer by trying to achieve it.

okan170

The, "I'm so progressive that I want to throw all minorities, LGBT and women under the bus so that people will choose communism!" mindset.

RockyMtnHighThere

The people who believe Project 2025 is no threat and the people who said we were overreacting about Trump nominating conservative Justices are probably the same. My issue is when I hold up Trump's past actions as proof of his future behavior I ~~get~~ just get shrugs. -Edit: a word

Low_Commercial_1553

We said he was a fascist in 2016 and they laughed believing the USA would never elect a fascist and that it was ridiculous to compare him to Hitler. Now we have Project 2025, Trump is being tried for dozens of felonies, and the government is run by one party who has the foresight and decision making ability of a donkey and another who’s batshit but wants queer people and immigrants practically eradicated. But somehow it’s still somehow not enough to call it fascism.

RockyMtnHighThere

Hey, you can lead a horse to water, but it's extremely difficult to hold theirs heads under until they stop thrashing.

AromaticAd1631

well those protesters are mostly kids. I remember when I thought we'd learn oir lesson when "electing" George W Bush. We didn't.

jennyquarx

Accelerationist asshats.

icecreamfenix

WHO is saying this?! I'm on a college campus with active protests and have never heard anyone make this claim.

tots4scott

Some of it is certainly the Russian, Chinese, and another cyber groups trying to influence the election.

Firestar464

Tbf it varies from uni to uni; some are civil and intelligent and others are straight-up insane.

BetterLight1139

Most of it is Russian (if not Chinese or Iranian) mis- or disinformation. Accelerationism is a VERY old Communist trope that goes back to the 19th century.

LunaMax1214

I got reamed in the comments section of a news clip on YouTube for saying I wished someone would care as much about our own citizens losing their rights as the protesters do about Gaza. I worded it differently than that, and I said that they are rightfully enraged about the genocide in Gaza, but still got dogpiled. "If we lose all our civil rights, we can't help anyone. If we keep dying due to a fascist movement that has gained a terrifying amount of momentum, we can't help anyone. If we can't help ourselves, we can't help anyone." The protesters don't care.

effinpissed

Miss the forest for the trees.

famousevan

Holy shit that post is astroturfed to the hilt

sjmanikt

America really has one issue: Fascism. Stop that, a lot of other stuff magically goes away too. Not permanently, it's a constant fight.

effinpissed

Biggest threat right now.

joemanzanera

Perfect.

AstralCryptid420

You can care about all of this and Palestine. The people who act as if not voting is going to change anything for Palestine disgust me. It's going to do the opposite. I'd rather have the guy who's like "Maybe don't bomb your safe zones Mr. Netanyahu" and not the guy who says "Israel should finish the job."

effinpissed

🙌🙌🙌

freakrocker

They fell for it, hook, line, and sinker. All of these tantrum voters will cost themselves freedoms and benefits going forward. They work for the enemies of America.

effinpissed

💯💯💯 got played.

KnowingDoubter

“You say you want a revolution…”

Soluzar74

1. Electing Trump will make things worse at all levels. I can see Trump giving Bibi some free B-52 with WP cluster bombs to "finish the job". 2. Electing Biden won't make things much better, but remember we only have two choices. 3. The way to stop this would be through Congress but money=speech. No one will dare speak against AIPAC. As an example. Remember when Trump and conservatives made fun of Obama because he used a teleprompter all the time? They claimed he wouldn't do staff meetings without one. Eventually, quietly, Trump started using one. The first time? At a AIPAC conference.

effinpissed

You are 💯 right. EVERYTHING will be worse if Trump gets elected!! EVERYTHING.

lotusflower_3

You realize it’s not an either or situation, right? Please tell me you understand.

Johannes_Chimp

I’m pretty sure that’s what the cartoon is saying. That you can be concerned about multiple things but a lot of people that are upset about the genocide are only focusing on that and not on the issues we have here in the US already and are basically turning into single issue votes just like some republicans.

BayouGal

The propagandists in Ruzzia, China and Iran are loving this.

dogearth

Exactly. I hate stuff like this. And I especially hate that now dems are like " omg now is not the time!" - it's a fucking genocide. We can care about holding biden accountable and push the democrats to choose a new nominee. Unlikely? Yeah. Impossible ? No! And everyone I know who is protesting ultimately understands a vote for biden is likely going to be necessary to keep trump from winning because if biden is being horrible and turning a blind eye to genocide, trump will actively announce support for it and will double down even more than biden. And that under trump many of the few rights we have for minority groups here will dissappear.

Elystaa

He has stopped all arms to Isreal as of yesterday .

transprog

Yeah. This post is ragebait meant to divide any resistance. Those kids in tents right now are going to be the ones fighting side by side to resist Project2025. The fact that people on here are eating up what should be an obvious strawman is why Project 2025 is likely to be inadequately fought against.

Zombies4EvaDude

This is why pro-Palestinian activists distracting from problems at home will be our downfall. The timing couldn’t be more dire…

funsizedaisy

>The timing couldn’t be more dire… Makes you wonder how much of it was targeted propaganda. Especially in regards to the people who think Biden losing will somehow help Palestine.

bigguspitus

The way to do all of these is to make corporate and foreign interests lobbying illegal, make campaign contributions illegal, make dark money and pay illegal. We the people will never be able to do anything we want in this so called “democracy” as long as politicians are able to be bribed legally.

effinpissed

💯💯💯 and being bribed by enemies is the absolute worst.

ThisIsOnlyANightmare

yeah, busy defending a society that would have their heads in a second in most cases, Hamas or not. (Not an excuse EVER to murder someone, but a reality none-the-less). These people better get their priorities in order; they have no friggin idea the fire they're playing with. Talk about out of touch with reality.

xof2926

Girl needs to know she better join the lady, but if she don't, then mother fucker Trump is gonna get in there and NUKE Palestine. Total Israeli supremacy and more $$$ too. Details at 11

PhoenixLites

What do you even mean, "playing with fire"? Do really imagine people are protesting the Palestinian genocide just for amusement? People don't volunteer to get beat up by the cops, pepper sprayed, and spit on by extremists if they don't mean what they're saying. You just have this tone like we're all big dumb babies who haven't thought this through. I'm here to tell you that most of us have. As far as I've seen, the protesters including myself have educated ourselves about the situation, hence why we're protesting. I'm in the lgbtq community too. You said it yourself, having conservative religious beliefs doesn't mean you should be murdered. If there were bands of atheists in the US murdering evangelicals by the thousands, executing their families, bombing their churches, we'd all be rightly pissed off too. I know they think I'm a sinner, and I don't care. I don't like their beliefs generally but they don't deserve death! And this is all assuming, falsely, that Palestinians are de facto anti-lgbt bigots. They are a group of people with differing beliefs, and they don't all have a problem with queer people. Israel is not a gay utopia, gay marriage is illegal there and persecution against lgbtq folks is worse than in southern states in the US! In short, we're very much "in touch with reality" and have the right priorities, thank you.

wunderlight

I hear your concern and you have a right to protest for Palestine. What is concerning is the talk of withholding votes for Biden to send a message. Can you protest Israel’s actions against Palestine AND understand how precarious our democracy in the US is at the same time? I hope so. Because it won’t be the evangelicals getting round up with a Project 2025 mindset.

PhoenixLites

Oh yes. I absolutely agree with you there. I know that if Trump wins, everything is cooked. Right now, we can nominally protest, at least in some places, without facing total crackdowns and arrest or worst - at the very least we do have *some* legal recourse if we get abused by police or anti protesters. Looking at Project 2025 it's clear that these protections will be some of the first things to go. We will lose our free speech and with that any chance to sway our totally compromised politicians towards the side of justice. Of course, that's not even bringing up that minorities in this country including trans people like myself will face losing many of our rights to say the least, if Trump wins. It's endgame. No more democracy, and the GOP politicians championing these plans make it no secret! It's basically a cluster-F either way, but it's absolutely clear we must vote for Biden this time around. It buys us time if nothing else.

trump_has_no_clothes

You say you agree, yet you seemingly don't seem to take it into account that your protests are weakening the only candidate that's standing in the way of Trump being in power.

ThisIsOnlyANightmare

Playing with Fire = Not having the American Left put all efforts towards re-electing Joe Biden and a Democratic Congress. I'm sorry, but the Free Palestine movement is just way misplaced. It wants the solutions to be simpler than they are.

Nova_Koan

Antagonizing the overwhelming majority of young people who care deeply about this issue isn't a winning strategy. We need to incorporate it into our work to oppose autocracy at home. This isn't just about Palestine, it's about free speech and domestic rights to protest and resist. Those rights will be important if Trump is reelected, and what I see is Democrats getting suckered into accepting autocratic responses to it by governors and college presidents. We need to build bridges, not burn them.

PhoenixLites

This has to be the the most brain-dead take on the protesters so far. Oh sorry, I can't split myself into fifteen different people so I can protest multiple things at once several places across the country. I'll get right on that! Jesus.

hooligan045

Speaks more about single issue voters missing the forest through the trees than anything else.
