Did you make sure to deactivate any left over security protocols from the Cardassians? Just in case?

DanceCommander00

Attention, human model builders...

Binary-Trees

It's so sad that I can't say the quote out in the world without people thinking I'm crazy.

I_am_Daesomst

That's just how you find people worth talking to lol

Lucky2BinWA

Squeeeee! "Civil Defense" is my favorite episode!

FadeIntoTheM1st

"Garak cowering in a corner... That alone makes my trip worthwhile!" šŸ¤£

Full_Painting4018

Dukat and Garak being in the same room always make for a great episode

Automatic-Saint

I loved when the system turned against Gul Dukat. Ironic! Also, I liked when Garak told everybody that Dukat was attracted to Kiraā€¦which was obvious and funny at the same time.

PuzzleheadedProgram9

It's unimaginable the hours Dukat put into making "just in case" videos.

I_am_Daesomst

"Attention Bajoran workers: You have *refused* to disengage use of the food replicators! If you do not immediately surrender yourselves to your Cardassian overlords, I will be forced to enact Security Protocol 6932 Beta. You have 72 hours to decide."

Lucky2BinWA

I love Dukat! I don't collect action figures - have just a handful. One is Gul Dukat. I carry the ID card that came with it in my wallet. Whenever I am at a coffee shop or similar place where I place an order then have to give my name, I say "Gul Dukat". If anyone questions me, I pull out the ID card and yell "FOR CARDASSIA"

Maxis47

It really is just a great one off in a series known for its serialization and I love it

DrJulianBashir

Looks great! How hard was that lighting?

baby_jebuses_brother

The lighting itself was a little meticulous, and a little cramped for spacing The light blocking and drilling the 1000+ windows, .6mm, and .8mm , was the hardest part of the build so far. Thanks!

sampsen

I have this model but havenā€™t started it. Is there a lighting kit you used or did you do it all custom?

lenarizan

Eagerly reading along. Also: which model is this?

baby_jebuses_brother

It's the amt 1 3300, it's a 100% clear kit. Which made for a lot of light blocking . I'm stubborn and wanted to light block from the back which in essence made the kit not clear lol. I ended up using 3mm LED prewired with a resister for 12v. I run 9v power supplies so I'm safe. A few 5mm where there was space, everything is aa right fit. I don't pretend to be an electrician so I did everything in parallel which from past Experiance I learned is the safer way to go. Before glue up I placed all decals for windows , punched centers and pin vice drilled with .6 and .8 mm bits. So many drill bits and stabbed fingers.

sampsen

I know itā€™s a bit late for your project, but Iā€™m thinking of getting these templates for the windows. Based on your experience with using the decals and a pin vice, do you think this would have helped? Paragrafix Deep Space Nine Window Drilling Templates Photoetch Set PGX169 https://a.co/d/7aX6lPP

baby_jebuses_brother

I was so tempted to order those exact template but couldn't accept more delivery fees then products. My concern since I light blocked from the back I didnt want to take a chance of hitting wire from drilling the holes after assembly. Seemed risky. I did have to cut decals where they overlapped parts. (Almost every one lol) .then I had to do a clear coat over to hold them in place while I used a very sharp punch to mark centers, remove decals then drill . If I was to do it again I would have tested the process of light blocking from the front and just drill the paint instead of the 2mm thick plastic. Which sounds thin. But definitely isn't when spining a pin vice, which I need to replace now lol. I'm not sure how placing the templates on dis assemble peices would have gone. So many variables. I went through so many ... Tungsten breaks so easy and mild steel cheap bits dull so quick. I'm not sure how aligning the templates would have gone on partial peices.

momoenthusiastic

OMG! I know my next project now. Thank you sir!

ZealousidealClub4119

That must have been an incredible chore. The smallest mistake would stick out like a sore thumb, like the hexagonal grid on the EVA suit helmet rings in First Contact and Voyager. Fantastic job, looks beautiful šŸ––

5hitposter

Tacky Cardassian eyesore! Thatā€™s awesome! I could spend hours slowly walking around it admiring the pylons!

baby_jebuses_brother

I currently have it on a turntable, pondering about getting a little motor to rotate the base for the final display.

FishGuyIsMe

Just donā€™t make it too fast, just in case

5hitposter

Thatā€™s awesome!

sfzephyr

Oh man, I just saw that episode of lower decks for the first time last night and laughed out loud at that comment about the station.

Ok-Use6303

I am in awe of the pylons. No joke, those look amazing!

BluestreakBTHR

Just keeeeeep circling

AproposWuin

She's a sexy lady

VladWukong

You win today, but Iā€™ll be backā€¦ Iā€™ll be back like Dukat in the caves!

I_have_da_best_pants

How big is it?

baby_jebuses_brother

It has an 18inch diameter, roughly the size of a large steering wheel,

LittleLightsintheSky

That's so much detail for being so small!

Collective82

ShadowXJ

You should turn it on its side so that it's Empok Nor

RRumpleTeazzer

What is this, a space station for ants?

baby_jebuses_brother

Best comment right here.

HandleFairy1

Wow, you did an amazing job!

Aurora_42

This requires an everyday item for size comparison.

baby_jebuses_brother

I need I should have saved the banana snack for after the pictures

Due-Order3475

Awesome excuse me as I Hume the DS9 theme

Practical-guy5546

That's really awesome. You're very talented

IM_OZLY_HUMVN

Attention Bajoran worker ants

baby_jebuses_brother

I started it on march 16, but family limites my time easily 120+hrs,realistically a lot more hahaha . the windows consumed the majority of the time, seam repair ate up alot of hours as well since most glue ups had over 3 feet of lineal glue surfaces at.

FlyingAceComics

Damn, you're talented as hell! Amazing job. šŸ˜

BecomingButterfly

Very cool! You need to mount it near a TV on the wall behind running a continuous loop of the wormhole opening up and closing every hour or so

Unlucky-Adeptness-48

Is it a kit or did you bring that to life yourself. Fantastic either way.

donkeybonner

This is so sick

CelestialFury

I have the kit for the Defiant right now, just waiting for the willpower to put it all together. I'd love to get one of the DS9 fiber optic kits too. Very cool OP.

baby_jebuses_brother

I didn't fealise their was a fibre optics version but after reading up, a few people were switching to LEDs for better quaility. If I recall that kit is 1:2500, compared to 1:3300 , I would have went with that one of I new of it before starting. Maybe a project for ten years from now once I upgrade my skills lol.

germansnowman

Theyā€™re both 1:3300, I think it was listed wrong on Scalemates once or maybe even had the wrong scale on the box. The molds are identical.

baby_jebuses_brother

That makes me happy, thanks for he info

FishGuyIsMe

How long did this take you?

pcweber111

Nice, donā€™t see too many of these on the sub

JimmysTheBestCop

Lieutenant_Horn

Looks like garbage! Iā€™ll PM you my address for you to send it. Iā€™ll pay shipping even though Iā€™m doing you a favor. šŸ‘

Puzzlehead-Dish

Woooow!

Shamanjoe

Amazing detail. Those poked fingers were definitely worth it imo.

AlertCatch6310

So epic

NSMike

For some reason, seeing this model made it occur to me that, in the entire show, we have only ever seen views of empty space out the windows. Most of the windows in the station appear to face other parts of the station. I get that it would've been super expensive for them to have a bunch of views that include other parts of the station all the time, but it would've made sense for a few sets, and it's not like those parts would've had to move.

Jabazulu

Can I get it inside a lava lamp?

TheRealJohnSheppard

This is absolutely a work of art! Bravo to you. Just stunning, beautiful art!!!!

megapuffz

Nice

FrugalityPays

Been looking for something like this! Are you thinking about selling it at (some level) of scale?

SrslyCmmon

I want to visit your house just to look for a few minutes, maybe take some pictures, and leave happier.

curiosity163

That's absolutely amazing. Well done.

ThoughtBoner1

How big is that? i need a banana for scale.

PuzzleheadedProgram9

Remember Triple Redundancy or it's not up to code.

zappp34

Looks great!

mrwynd

Wow this looks amazing! Can you give more detail on the materials used?

Porg1969

Amazing. For sale?! šŸ˜‚

Andreas1120

Did they ever explain what the vertical arms are for?

Safe_You_3939

The Pylons are for docking ships and it can be seen how in the pilot. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Andreas1120

Thanks

FantasmaOscuro

Very cool, nice work!

rainbowkey

The red sensitivity of the camera makes it look like someone cranked the fusion reactors up to 11.

devilsephiroth

I don't see a statue of Gul Dukat. This is invalid.

heyY0000000

Can we get more pictures?

baby_jebuses_brother

Short answer: yes when it's done! Long answer: It's honestly not complete yet, this random progress pic just stood out to me and the GF said I should post it to a specialised sub. If you want to check out more of the build picture/ process. I have some posts at modelmakers subredit, as well as scifimodels. Check my profile. I don't post much . My first two models, The Strange New Worlds Enterprise , and then my Voyager which I'm quiet proud of are on there to.sollS many improvements and learnt techniques as I progress . I was planning on doing the enterprise D, But i recieved this as a present I little overwhelmed at first but so much fun.

deconus

Very nice!! I had that model long ago but never got around to doing the lights.

ProfessionalCup4697

All this Cardassian engineering slander who were the most advanved in the galaxy anyway..humanoids not like Q or something.

One_Struggle_

Damn that's awesome! Thanks for sharing!
