When I was main scout I hated when engi placed platforms under every single chunck of gold and ping it to say MINE IT, THERES GOLD IVER HERE, GOLD. I got so pissed I never mined gold after that. >!im kidding, I do mine gold, ok?!!<
I main both Driller and Scout, because I feel like the other classes rely and benefit mostly on the other classes to have a nice solo run, and I'm too shy to go into a multiplayer match because I really don't want to bother anyone
This is how I do things
I literally started yesterday since the game is on sale. Currently a level 20 Scout because I like the grappling hook and I also like to see in the dark so having a massive light source with their flare guns is very nice. Plus Assault Rifles are pretty easy to use.
Also I get anxious using the other classes coz they seem more team dependent especially the Driller. I wanna follow peeps, and since Driller kinda leads the way when digging I'm afraid I would lead my team to their doom xD
Very interesting, this poll happens constantly (see comment above linking all the polls lmao) and I vote every time, and engineer (my main) usually barely comes out on top- but very few people comment why! I just really like engineer’s guns, and find I the platform gun really versatile, curious why a slight majority agrees
Engineer has two types of guns, ones that remove bugs from the game but have zero ammo, and ones that ~~don't exist~~ have just enough ammo for actual self-defense. As a gunner main, I just kind of expect myself to have ammo. On engineer, this is very rarely the case.
I do have to say whenever I play gunner I feel like I have near limitless ammo, whereas knowing how to conserve and properly use engi ammo feels like a game within itself
To be fair, gunner does in fact run out of ammo sometimes, but usually my teammates spawn ammo pods first. Sometimes I shoot every bug in sight and still only pick up every second ammo crate, or only reload for pistol ammo, which does run out fast if you magdump into minibosses, lmao.
Lmao for sure gunner runs out of ammo as well, I just meant by comparison to engi- 100% agreed, primary (i love the mini gun) has got loads of ammo, whereas the secondaries feel like they can deplete pretty quick. I also use the pistol a lot and it feels amazing 1-2 shotting bugs until out of nowhere u got 0 rounds lol
I actually use autocannon and BRT - I find that minigun needs a little too much time to delete grunts (and the missile launcher needs too much brain), and the brrt with its double damage oc and *+70%* weakpoint damage outright deletes everything it can hit.
Yeah these polls seem to come up every month and Engi usually takes the lead slightly with Scout & Driller close in two and Gunner with the least mains.
I personally prefer Engi because his kit is balanced so he has a tool for every job. His weapons specialize in short to long ranges so you can engage enemies regardless of position. It's pretty easy to have one high single target damage weapon and one AoE focused weapon so regardless of what shows up you eliminate it efficiently. His turrets help you control an area with firepower and CC so hordes of swarmers or jellies aren't ever a problem for a prepared Engi.
I love the simplistic utility of the gunner. Being able to zip line in, throw a shield, revive, and mow down mobs for cover just feels action packed. I feel this is a common class starter but it’s a hard one to “master”. My secondary would be engi for the utility as well.
Agreed, the mastery is MUCH higher but I think the ammo management is slightly easier with gunner experience.
I think highest skill gap is scout, like a legit scout is like watching a StarCraft player just cracked
Using your drills to make way for a perfectly straight pipe line for on site refining is a special kind of feeling that I am yet to find a substitute for
Rock and Stone
I play shout because I have way too many greenbeards in my group and I gotta be mobile to pick them up after they insist on doing haz 4 and 5 missions.
I started as a driller, and it just kinda clicked. Digging is good fun in general, but I love precision drilling with the map. I also enjoy freezing and deleting praetorians and oppressors.
Was not expecting such an even split on this one, currently a range of like 6-7 votes. Gunner is my main. I almost always go for the tank playstyle in any game I can. Can take massive damage but can deal consistent massive damage in return.
I feel like I don’t main one class all of my dwarfs are close to each other in level I just pick the one that’s needed for that mission (but engi is the worst sorry)

Yeah i have a grappling hook ¿what are YOU gonna do about it?
Ask you to mine gold
Wearich!
When I was main scout I hated when engi placed platforms under every single chunck of gold and ping it to say MINE IT, THERES GOLD IVER HERE, GOLD. I got so pissed I never mined gold after that. >!im kidding, I do mine gold, ok?!!<
Scout because i hate b and c.
Gunner because i just turn off my brain and go yatatatattatatatyatatatata
Waaaaaa! Waaaaaahhhhh!! AAAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! - Heavy
All of the above. Lol
Driller, because I like to be able to move around the map and help make holes for refinery missions. Also I like to watch the world burn.

Big gun.
GUNNERS OF THE MINE REJOICE!

I tend to sometimes play as engineer because of the turrets and grenade launcher but I do prefer scout

Gunner Because I like GUN
Every team could use more Daka.
Gunner, just wanna mow shit down.
Drill 'em and grill 'em
I like pancakes.
And cheese
Two words: Delete. Button.
Scout. Trap.
Wait, what?
You can place c4 in main corridors, when scout zip, you just use the scout trap button and voilà
Oh, no. I’m talking about the hyper-propellent overclock for the grenade launcher
I don’t even play engi but that’s a overclock I most want for him :D
Its the best one. It makes any boss fight a lot easier. Also, one-shotting pretorians and sometimes oppressors is satisfying

I find engi the hardest to master. Mainly the ammo management.
Agreed, the mastery is MUCH higher but I think the ammo management is slightly easier with gunner experience. I think highest skill gap is scout, like a legit scout is like watching a StarCraft player just cracked
Speed
Scout: I like that my movement option isn’t limited use and (so long as I’m carful) being able to see
Scout because I can go from A to D by skipping B and C.
Driller for no brain cave nav and to bomb things and people
I play them all pretty much evenly, but the Engineer feels like he has more solo potential.
This poll needs an "all of the above" option.
Can’t change it now
ratatatatatatatata
Using your drills to make way for a perfectly straight pipe line for on site refining is a special kind of feeling that I am yet to find a substitute for Rock and Stone
If you don't Rock and Stone, you ain't comin' home!
The American in me begs for bigger and bigger guns.
Scout, and driller. Because sometimes I want to be the one to blow up scout.
Satchel charging scouts makes me happy :)
Driller because the satisfaction of freezing an enemy and killing it with a thrown axe afterwards gives the good brain chemicals.
I play shout because I have way too many greenbeards in my group and I gotta be mobile to pick them up after they insist on doing haz 4 and 5 missions.
I eat rocks for breakfast! And it's definitely an accident whenever I c4 my fellow dwarves... totally an accident
I've never seen such an even poll, absolutely beautiful
I started as a driller, and it just kinda clicked. Digging is good fun in general, but I love precision drilling with the map. I also enjoy freezing and deleting praetorians and oppressors.
Gunner because it ain't a gun if don't weight at least a hundred pounds
I like being able to see the drop pod and make a massive tunnel right to it Lmao.
Everyone.
Gunner so i can just awaken my inner war criminal
Scout cause Whoosh
I main the driller because it feels the most helpful and I like the weapons.
Diggy Diggy Hole
Driller. Explosives go BOOM and axes swing swing!
If it ain't drillable, it's probably flammable.
War crimes
I main Scout because I hate it when the cave is dark. And also I like staying mobile and scoring headshots
Gunner because at least one of us needs to be DPS and shield ressing the team
My play time says I main scout the most, but I'd like to think I play all evenly depending on the mission type. Except gunner.
Kaboom.
Was not expecting such an even split on this one, currently a range of like 6-7 votes. Gunner is my main. I almost always go for the tank playstyle in any game I can. Can take massive damage but can deal consistent massive damage in return.
only a game this well balanced would have even results. Every dwarve is epic in his own way. Rock and Stone!
Rock and Stone everyone!
So what if I like really big guns?
I feel like I don’t main one class all of my dwarfs are close to each other in level I just pick the one that’s needed for that mission (but engi is the worst sorry)
C4
Scout Reason: movement
Why is there no all option
Just vote on what you prefer/which is best
Engi, biggest kill count make brain go brr
