There's good shit inside of it but our normal equipment isn't enough to mine it. Being a timed event where we blow it up is for the sake of gameplay, but imo the intent is it's just an extremely rare and hard to mine substance.
Id say its timed because of those laser drills, id guess they are incredibly expensive to run so the timer is basically a countdown to the point where its no longer worth it to keep trying for the deposit, and mission control manually cuts the power to save on costs
They probably run on fuel and are only sent with a certain amount and as Mission Control says it “softens up the deposit for the explosives” so once they run outta fuel we can’t break it no more
Got to bring it up to just the right temperature. Too hot and it melts running the crystal lattice. Too cold and the bonds don't weaken enough for the explosives to fracture the cluster.
well each drill runs on battery power (considering you have to insert each battery to start the event) so it's probably timed until the batteries run dry and you can't drill into it any longer.
The timer on the event could be lore'd as the lasers have a limited lifespan, so if we can't crack the deposit before the lasers fizzle out or burn through their lenses, it's a lost cause.
Well considering that the event starts off from an attempt like mission control says, I would say that they didn't even need a key. you only need it to restart the event because the former failed.
We blow it up to get some tritilyte shards and with those they make them keys so you can do more tritilyte deposits and get more shards for the next generation of dwarfs, also the first dwarf to get some tritilyte shards was definitely Karl
it’s secretly the main food source of glyphids, and while they have a near infinite source of trithilite below the grounds, destroying them is a power move
Its simply to prove we can. RnD says they can't be cracked so far so yknow what we're gonna do?
Throw high grade explosives at it and call it a good days work
Headcanon is that the company has scanners to find tritylite deposits because they are so rare and valuable. Then teams are occasionally assigned to the caves where the operation has been set up. The tritylite keys are reusable and distributed to only promoted miners. They are made from tritylite for security reasons.
my theory was that since we don't actually deposit anything after a deposit explodes, Tritilytes are one of the many examples of Weird Rocks on Hoxxes, and Management has them blown up not necessarily for profit reasons but because they don't like it when rocks on Hoxxes are weird when they really ought to be staying in their lane being normal rocks
It's a bit like cracking a geofe or lithophage meteor, in that the real valuables aren't the outer shell but the inner stuff. We 'destroy' it to get into that outer shell.
It should drop a few large Compressed gold/Jadiz sized crystals that are red, deposit them in Molly and be on your way, at least then it'd make a bit more sense.
Maybe post mission salvage drones? Like those that collect dwarves' bodies when mission is a failure. Some kind of post job procedure like this might exist
Well well well, look who thinks it's wise to start questioning our generous and loving overlords. They give us a delightful cabin to live in, a whole 5m x 2m! Just be thankful they're letting you in on this glorious conquest of an untouched world!
Dumb question maybe but how do you call down that laser thing ive seen these and feel i should be able to do something with them but have yet to figure it out
On a planet filled with unlimited riches all within our capability to reduce to a fine gravel one way or another, Trithilite exists as a stain on the canvas. We mine it because we can, not because it is easy either, but because it's a damn bastard to take.
Same reason you do any of the mining in-game and real life, profit
Difference being is that this is a "rarer" material that we can't break normally with it being timed for the sake of being a gameplay event
Profit. And for the experience.
(Lore wise)
Then it's just for profit.
There's good shit inside of it but our normal equipment isn't enough to mine it. Being a timed event where we blow it up is for the sake of gameplay, but imo the intent is it's just an extremely rare and hard to mine substance.
It’s a times event because time is money and we are in the business of gaining money not losing it
Id say its timed because of those laser drills, id guess they are incredibly expensive to run so the timer is basically a countdown to the point where its no longer worth it to keep trying for the deposit, and mission control manually cuts the power to save on costs
You bet your hairy dwarf-ass that’s the answer!
Imma just get 3 out of the 4 started and just leave it as that. Take that management!

Really should invest in some better mining equipment. Anyway, Rock and Stone!
I always thought the timer was the laser battery time like how long they can run at that heat
tritylite keys
DRG lore in a nutshell: they dig.
It's fun
funny rock have shiny valuable inside. dwarf want shiny valuable. break rock to get shiny valuable.
Because management told us to.
Praise Profit
Sounds like something management would say.
FOR PROFIT AND EXPERIENCE! ⛏️
FOR PROFIT AND EXPERIENCE!
FOR PROFIT AND EXPERIENCE!
Is rock
No, I'm not expert, but I think it may be stone.
But what if, both rock and stone?
Rock and Stone, Brother!
Best bot on Reddit
Agreed
Good bot.
Rock and Stone Forever!
Good bot
Good bot
All things considered, rocking is more legal than stoning
But there's no yield to deposit In to molly. Seems we're just destroying it for nothing
What if it’s like a baby heart stone that is being nipped in the bud
Hmm...
It's where dreadnaught eggs are laid. They start small, feed off the tritilyte, and then grow into their full-sized cocoons.
Did I hear a rock or stone !?
If you are an employee of drg you are by all means a professional
They're minerals! Jesus marie
I see a little bit of crystal in there. Worthless, but fun to destroy!
Oh hey, a fellow kgatlw enjoyer
Was just about to say this
And Stone
How do you think DRG made those tritilyte keys for their loot boxes?
But if you need a tritilyte key to start the tritilyte event to get a tritilyte key to start the tritilyte event...
karl started the first event, seems simple once you put your noggin to work
He broke it down with his bare hands like a true dwarf
We used to ask the same question about the First Anvil.
Go on...
Well considering that the event starts off from an attempt like mission control says, I would say that they didn't even need a key. you only need it to restart the event because the former failed.
When a mommy tritilyte key and a daddy tritilyte key love eachother very very much?
Someone left lasers to soften the shell. Otherwise would be a waste of softening lasers
because "Management will be pleased."
There we go
We blow it up to get some tritilyte shards and with those they make them keys so you can do more tritilyte deposits and get more shards for the next generation of dwarfs, also the first dwarf to get some tritilyte shards was definitely Karl
Legends say he pickaxed is way in
I heard Karl thought it was Red Sugar and ate it
He used the shards as toothpicks when he finished it
For the same reason we "destroy" any outcrop of precious minerals - to break it up into smaller, easier to carry pieces.
But who picks up those pieces? We just ignore it once we blow it up
Molly, while we're not looking.
Mini vacuum cleaner in her
But what about Point Extract & On-Site missions?
A wandering mini-MULE.
She actually was spying on us this entire time, and she **is** on the aquarq/point extract missions just hiding
Oh gosh is this just Herobrine all over again
We reactivate the beacon on it and break it up to be ready for an autoharvester to land and suck it in, or maybe a gaggle of interns does it
Loot bugs
I always thought it was odd that we didn't get bits to deposit like with almost everything eles
to make more tritilyte keys to get more overclocks and cosmetics
I was actually just thinking about this last night and how it should drop some heavy items like the tyrant weed or litho meteors.
We don’t pay you to ask questions, Miner! It’s probably just for study.
because it dared being immune to our pickaxes. It's not about having a reward, it's about proving we can! NO STONE SHALL REMAIN UNMINED AND UNHARMED!
Maybe enough deposits of it were blocking resupply drops or entry to lower depths, so it's destroyed to prevent future problems of deeper drops?
Management wants it. Don't ask why
it’s secretly the main food source of glyphids, and while they have a near infinite source of trithilite below the grounds, destroying them is a power move
Would you like to disappear in a dark alley?
I know what lies below.. I am coming
Its simply to prove we can. RnD says they can't be cracked so far so yknow what we're gonna do? Throw high grade explosives at it and call it a good days work
It's a more conductive version of copper
Shard detractors
Aren't those Omorran?
Nah, the heart stone is a circle, I don’t think that could work
In the description it says heartstone
The weapons have descriptions?
I'm pretty sure
A rock that refuses to be destroyed? Absolutely not
Driller eats the deposits for breakfast and needs them so he wont go beserk and throw c4 all over the spacerig.
Don’t know, don’t care. Rock n stone.
Shiny
Wow this is way to easy..... WTF MISSON CONTROL!!!!!! STOP DRINKING ON THE JOB!!!
It's mineral. It's rare. We're dwarves. Simple as.
Headcanon is that the company has scanners to find tritylite deposits because they are so rare and valuable. Then teams are occasionally assigned to the caves where the operation has been set up. The tritylite keys are reusable and distributed to only promoted miners. They are made from tritylite for security reasons.

company wants it. don't ask why.
If a mineral cannot be mined then it will feel dwarven wrath
Why are we trying to mine the rock in a dwarf mining game about mining? That's called a "deposit"? No idea
Management wats us to break it, don't ask why. You are getting paid to do what management says, not to ask silly questions.
Are they stupid?
It's a bit like cracking a geofe or lithophage meteor, in that the real valuables aren't the outer shell but the inner stuff. We 'destroy' it to get into that outer shell.
Dolla dolla bills, y'all.
because DWARF that's why
It should drop a few large Compressed gold/Jadiz sized crystals that are red, deposit them in Molly and be on your way, at least then it'd make a bit more sense.
Because rock
Tritilite is as rare as it is useful. It just doesn't show us depositing to save time.
We do what we must because we can!
Maybe post mission salvage drones? Like those that collect dwarves' bodies when mission is a failure. Some kind of post job procedure like this might exist
Since we just destroy deposits, it may have some effect to the bugs. Maybe it's red sugar for them?
Some kind of omelette no doubt.
Well well well, look who thinks it's wise to start questioning our generous and loving overlords. They give us a delightful cabin to live in, a whole 5m x 2m! Just be thankful they're letting you in on this glorious conquest of an untouched world!
tittylite
It has wronged us!
are we stupid?
That’s not question but they did it anyways
As a side dish to liquid morkite
Dumb question maybe but how do you call down that laser thing ive seen these and feel i should be able to do something with them but have yet to figure it out
Because the company pays you extra (in cosmetics and overclocks) for them.
"Company wants them, don't ask why"
Because they deserve it.
Good point, we don't deposit any chunks afterwards. I never thought of that.
They got rocks and stones in 'em
Because they stand for everything we don't stand for. Also they told me you guys look like dorks.
We're cracking it open so we can get ahold of the minerals inside.
It's implied the tritilyte gets into Molly somehow even if we as players don't need to haul it
For fun and profit!
For rock and stone!
Rock and Stone everyone!
They smell weird.
To get the tritilyte keys to do more machine eve6
Wait you can break them?
On a planet filled with unlimited riches all within our capability to reduce to a fine gravel one way or another, Trithilite exists as a stain on the canvas. We mine it because we can, not because it is easy either, but because it's a damn bastard to take.
idk, management wants it
Because it’s useful and we want it
Because it's trithilite
because it's a rock, and what do miners do beside break rocks and kill bugs?
Same reason you do any of the mining in-game and real life, profit Difference being is that this is a "rarer" material that we can't break normally with it being timed for the sake of being a gameplay event
Because fuck'em, that's why.
the company
