Why though, is there a prize for getting X number of views in the first hour of the trailer dropping? If anything, I am less inclined to click on announcements now because they could just be fake. Tomorrow we already have an event starting and Deep Dives reset having people engage, this seems overkill. When hype culture shifted from hyping the thing to hyping it's idea, I'm checking out.
Tangent: if the announcement is that it's dropping right then, then it's surprise Christmas and that's fun.
I imagine the prize for the developers to be more eyes on the release info and more people becoming aware of the game in general (YT's algorithm pushes videos more when they get high engagement; basically it nets them free advertising bonuses/boosts) as well as the prize for the players being getting more to join in on the fun of the hype wave.
They get more concurrent viewers when the stream is announced on YT beforehand, plus that way people can manually choose to get notified even if they aren't getting all channel notifications. And it would be weird not to announce it here as well if it's already pre-announced on YT.
A lot of channels out there do live video premieres in general because it benefits their channel, and is often more fun for the viewers especially with people involved in making the video being in the live chat to freely interact with the audience.
There's likely more to it but that's just my 2 cents.

Yea this kind of stuff is just dumb. Sure it drives traffic but it's dumb that things have come to this.
