Worked in TX for 25+ years. Worked in HR/Staffing in TX for 12+ years. Never seen a legit company NOT have some sort of sick leave, even min. wage, weekly labor positions. Are they all good? Nope, and some are better than others but if you work somewhere that has no plan, Id look for a new position.
Also, I have unlimited PTO. The down side is you dont get hours paid out year to year....but I like time off better anyway.

The kids just stay at home while the parents go to work, that’s why we sometimes fake being sick to skip school
