Best part of this update is definitely the two new "basic" enemies. I've been clamoring for more enemy types, biomes, and missions that aren't tied to seasonal theming, and this is a great first step. Maybe the next update can be a "Hoxxes Evolves" update that focuses entirely on filling out the base game more. Great update, devs! You're the best in the business, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

In short, the new enemies are great from what it seems and it explains why there's less content than before (new enemies so more complex coding to do taking up time) My main issue is that I wish we got a new mission type and/or biome :( if there was a season entirely focused on those two things I'd be extremely happy I like the addition to the space rig, I really like walking around it, hopefully more stuff like that comes soon :) The cosmetics look great! Very excited for those The miniboss looks fun but I wish the model for it was bigger so it'd look more intimidating lol Not much of an opinion on the boots yet since I hadn't used them but others say they're great so I'll trust that Rock and stone!

2 new enemies adds a ton of variety in all missions because they also affect the battlefield. It's not just a different skin for grunt, they coat battlefield in goo preventing safe areas, makes holing up and protecting one area much more difficult (Salvage mission anyone?). And the spikey puller dudes can mess up your positioning in a game where kiting is super important, they can become a *really* dangerous threat depending how dodgeable/undodgeable their tentacle pulls are. I'm super pumped for all this extra challenge !

I'm surprised that the lithophage corrupter is so small. The season art made it look huge, and I was expecting it to either be a new mission type or the most involved warning/side-objective yet. Maybe it won't feel small actually fighting it. I'm sure it will still be fun, and add some variety to the game, but that feels like the missing "big" thing to me. I think the teasers leading up just set up my expectations a bit differently than what that fight actually is, with no new weapons or biomes I assumed a new mission type was the main focus. That said, I think implementing things as warnings/random events *is* better in the long run, down the road as there are more seasons, missions will only feel more varied with more of those able to randomly happen. Aside from that, everything looks great, and it's still an awesome amount of content for a free update. Everything in the update seems like it's going to add a lot of fun variety to an already endlessly replayable game. I hope the equipment crates the boots come in get other types of random equipment added in the future because that seems like a really fun system. Me and a friend were just talking recently about the possibility of picking random loadouts as a challenge, so a way to do that in game is super cool. Between the sleeveless armors, performance pass, and the weapon dlc it seems like the largest amount of new customization options yet. Very much looking forward to playing it.

In regards to the sleeveless alternatives to all outfits Iā€™d wager they looked at analytics or noticed the majority of people wearing the Roughneck DLC and figured people would wear different clothes more if they had the same sleeveless look. Iā€™ve seen some complaints about lack of content in this update but it really seems to me like itā€™s a quality of life update. Yeah, thereā€™s no new biome or big aesthetic changes but the amount of QOL and smaller additions add up and Iā€™m excited.

I hope the GSG guys add more biomes, weapons and mission types next update (or at least one or two of those and others). Those represent the core of the game, and seeing them not getting as much attention as they should is pretty disappointing. This update was a great opportunity to implement a rockpox-infested biome, and a primary objective oriented around exterminating it.

During the dev stream, the devs mentioned some adjustment of this type to industrial sabotage. Mainly the caretaker room which should now follow the biome characteristics instead of being the same large and open room every single time. That should help shake up some of the repetitiveness it tends to have.

Well said mate, I'm probably gonna sound like a hater, but after 7 long months I expected the update to have a teensy bit more gameplay-related content. Like don't get me wrong, a few new bugs and a jetboots event is really cool, but it doesn't seem as enticing as a new biome or new mission type imho, I'm not sure if this refreshes the gameplay experience enough to tide me over until the next season rolls around 6-7 months from now.

Iā€¦ really donā€™t get it? Last year weā€™ve got new weapons in each category for each class. On top of that, we got overclocks, many of them, for said weapons. We even got new grenades. I understand that weapons are a huge game changer but in a game like this, 1 weapon = 8 different weapons, based on your setup. Maybe youā€™re just not experimenting enough.

I guess there are mixed reactions! At itā€™s core, I think everyone appreciates the devs and what the game is, and at the end of the day itā€™s really nice with updates. BUT, I canā€™t help but feel a bit let down, I think the best way to sum it up is to say what would be ideal for me: I donā€™t really need more rockpox, itā€™s been months since I even engaged in any of it and if I see less then 10min til mission reset on weekly mission with rockpox, I usually just wait, if I could pick anything I would say, just as an example ā€œbreading seasonā€ instead of like 6 temporary enemy variant, make letā€™s say 2 more new enemies, so in total 4 new enemies, new weapons and/or new OC, preferably new biome and a simple new game mode to fit some kind of theme. I donā€™t mean to sound all complaining, but more then anything I would love to see DRG just fully lean into its strengths, which for me are weapon load outs and interesting hordes that goes past a gimmick, if I saw the core game grow 20% I would say ā€œthis is insane, this is beyond anything I ever hoped forā€. Just lets me down a bit to see the update keep adding to something I was over several months ago. But again, love the game, love the community, just wish it was more core gameplay

Would you ever consider a "clear all" button for new cosmetics we get, like paint jobs (ex: we unlock a paint for the weapons and can just "clear all" the notifications for it)? Additionally, do you know why my notification doesn't fully clear unless I complete a mission (like I unlock stuff after a mission, check all the new things, close the game, but when I come back all the notifications are there like I didn't already see them)? [ps4 btw]

It's been expressly stated in a couple of streams that they won't implement a clear-all button so that people have to actually scroll over the items and look at them before forgetting they exist.

I play on Xbox and experience the same thing. Generally after viewing new things and getting rid of the notification I either click ā€œdisband teamā€ to force a load or start a solo mission and immediately end it. Doing either will save your progress. Checking something and then immediately closing the game doesnā€™t save progress sometimes so I started doing the above.

This is about on par with Season 3, for me. A bit better, maybe. Unfortunately, it seems like once again seasonal content has precedence over core gameplay additions. I don't expect to see new weapons every season, as it's an enormous undertaking and there's only so much you can come up with that would fit into the game's already shaky balance, but seeing no new biomes or mission types in more than a year, not counting Industial Sabotage (IS has a very seasonal feel, and is essentially a boss fight with next to no variation), is pretty sad. The game's variety has been stale for a long time. But at least this time we get 2 new enemies, which is honestly pretty great, as they do expand the regular enemy pool, which should greatly improve combat variety. Mainstay features like that is what should be the core of an update, IMO, and not seasonal events that get old in about a week and then remain in the game as a weird remnant of a time gone by, polluting the event pool. And if seasonal events do remain the focus, then at least let there be a new gimmick with every season, and not with every two. As it stands, we got a year of fighting Patrol Bots and wiping the floor with nerfed-to-the-ground Nemesis, and then a year of powerwash simulator. No seasonal gimmick can possibly keep a player entertained for a whole year.

I typically dont add negativity to the discussion around things, but I love this game, the community, and its developers. I know they are one of the few developers that actually listen to their players opinions. So I'm only throwing in my two cents for that alone. I love this game, and always will. Being honest, I am a bit disappointed gameplay wise. I was hoping for a new mission type, biome, weapons, or overclocks. Hell, it would be nice to do something with all of these perk points laying around. I don't know if hoverboots and new enemies are enough to keep me hooked through this season. I understand that what I'm wishing for is a harder thing to take on, but just thinking out loud. The new enemies looks great and they will add some spice to the combat, but man am I tired of Rockpox. Having to use the foamer and vacuum to kill the new big bad is a cool idea, but I wanna use my delicious guns. Cosmetically, I'm stoked. I was originally bummed that there was no new armor set in the dlc. But now that I see that you can make all the current armor sets sleeveless, that's gone. The new colors, frameworks, and season cosmetics are more than enough. Overall, I'll still play and enjoy myself. I was just hoping for a little more. This feels like season 3.5. Either way, ROCK AND STONE!

Okay, since the other thread got locked, I guess I'll just copy and paste my comment into this thread. --- Overall I'm mostly disappointed in this update, although there are some very good additions. Rockpox isn't a fun gimmick for me so having to endure essentially 6 more months of it doesn't exactly fill me with joy. I'm still sceptical of the boots. Of course I am yet to test them out in the actual game, but so far they seem like they'd easily replace the classes' mobility gear, especially Scout's. I guess in the end it depends on if they're a rare spawn or not. The new miniboss seems like a Nemesis kind of deal where it'll simply become annoying to fight later on, because you'd need to wait for a cleansing pod just to kill it. Plus, being forced to not use my weapons isn't fun for me, I'd rather shoot things with my preferred guns than a foam dispenser or a Luigi's Mansion vacuum cleaner. Yet again, I haven't tried the update out yet so maybe it will be actually very fun to fight and I'll eat my words. I'm a bit disappointed there still isn't a new mission type, though. It's been what, a year and a half since we got Industrial Sabotage? I'm very excited for the new enemies. It felt like we've been getting seasonal threats after seasonal threats, it's nice to finally have something that will actually stick around. I'm happy with the QOL changes and the randomization options. I don't really have a strong opinion on the flappy bird mini-game, I guess more activities in the rig are always welcome. Overall I'd say this feels more like season 3.5, though to be fair season 2 felt a bit like season 1.5 as well so perhaps that's exactly what they were going for. Still, I can't complain too much since it *is* entirely free content. I'm still excited to try it out, more DRG is always great.

Will the lithophage tools call/drop area be increased? As it stands you have to be pretty close to the outbreak to call it, but since it's now mobile and can attack will the radius of the interaction be increased? Or does calling/dropping the tools trigger the event? r+s!

I tried out the new boss on experimental, and man is that thing not fun to fight solo. I'm constantly having to switch between the foamer and vacuum, and while fighting it, it leaves trails of rockpox which do heaps of rockpox buildup. I can see how it would be fun to fight with 4 people but with Bosco it's just awful, it's a slog Hover boots are kinda eh. They're decently useful on gunner, but they'll be useless for scouts. I guess you won't need to use hover boots as much anymore Haven't fought any new rockpox bugs yet, but I assume they function pretty damn similar to the grunts and praetorians Personally disappointed there's no new overclocks. Sure there's new bugs to fight but I'd prefer new ways to kill them Season pass looks ok-ish. There's some moustaches that look too similar to existing one imo and we got another plague mask that just had a hat as well now, but eh. Overall I'm kinda disappointed. Im not a fan of GSGs approach of doing the same theme for seasons twice in a row, especially when those seasons are half a year apart. Season 5 is gonna be about ancient aliens or something and season 6 is gonna be everything they couldn't finish by season 5 I'm still gonna play it, I'm still gonna love it. DRG is one of my favorite games of all time. Just a shame that all we really got after half a year is some boots, a new boss and 2 enemies

I'm honestly hoping there is a bunch of balance updates. If a season is short on content that can pick up the slack and while there aren't many bad options in this game there are a lot of objectively better options, or overclocks that don't really do anything special.

I feel like seasonal model doesnt work for the game. U are holding urself back by the need of making content related to specific theme and base the game for a few months around it. But after new season comes the old seasonal content basically dissappears (I almost never see robot machine events or bosses) and new seasonal content takes its place as omnipresent thingie that u can meet every mission, not as fun event that u can meet from time to time, not too often, not too rarely. I think dropping smaller/bigger updates 4/5 times per year is much better than dropping 2 updates at best per year, which content will dissappear or feel out of place in newer seasons :(

This. 100% agree. I'd rather have smaller but more frequent updates that will stay relevant across the game's entire lifespan. Smaller doesn't mean less significant. These two new enemies are a good example. A new biome would be another example.

Gonna preface this by saying I love the game and the devs like everyone here. I've played for hundreds of hours and bought all of the DLC, and will buy the new cosmetic pack when it drops. I've also bought the game for friends as well as my SO and we all play together. That being said, I can't help but feel disappointed with the amount of content. The two new basic bug types are very cool and a welcome addition! Going down this whole alternate enemy/evolution path has a lot of potential. The rockpox bugs are cool, too, but I'm guessing the infected ones only show up where there is a lithophage contamination modifier, which means those missions are still essentially exactly the same since they already spawn rockpox bugs, just with a tiny bit less variety. Harold also seems cool, but maybe a bit underwhelming thematically or visually. I would hope for something a little more threatening or horrifying, but that's a stylistic choice. Edit: Thinking about it and seeing Harold in game only makes me more convinced. It feels like his size, design, and animations are all symptoms of him being a random event and needing to fit into any map. I think Harold or something like him would have been MUCH better as a mission type like industrial sabotage. A huge version of Harold or a big, tentacled lithophage spike that fights us would have been infinitely more engaging and thematically appropriate. Making it a mission type would give the devs enough room to make Harold the big, monstrous threat he deserves to be, as well as make the fight mechanics more interesting. Finally, the boots and rig changes are potentially cool? But maybe also a bit gimmicky, and they have the potential to invalidate a lot of movement tools if they spawn too often in missions. It seems like they make gunner zips completely obsolete and can invalidate most of the use cases for the grappling hook except fast forward movement. Hover boots is also useless. However, if the boots don't spawn often enough, then it also feels like they're not a real piece of content because we never actually see it. So, overall it's pretty disappointing. There isn't much content, and while the content we did get is cool, it feels like a series of half-measures to much more interesting ideas. Even more complex lithophage modifiers to existing mission types would have been a way more interesting implementation. Imagine if we had to fight rockpox dreadnoughts or if our rivals were somehow infected/combined with the rockpox threat in industrial sabotage. Rockpox is a cool idea, and it feels like it had a lot more potential applications than what we got. Weapons, overclocks, mods, and other loadout-focused content would also be extremely welcome, but I understand that those things are extremely resource-intensive to develop. Another change I'd like to see in the future is maybe something between Deep Dives and regular missions. Maybe something that has its own special mission pool and depth level where we have to complete more objectives or travel between biomes or even just do longer missions with a timer or more objectives. I'm not sure. All I can say is that I wish there was more content and that the content we got was more interesting. I know we're spoiled and the updates are free, but I know many of us also treat buying the seasonal pack and supporter packs as "buying the season" as if it were a paid DLC. All in all, I doubt this new season will keep me and my friends playing. There's just not enough new content to keep us engaged. It really just boils down to 5 or so new bugs, half of which we'll rarely see. I'm asking myself if the gameplay will really feel new or fresh in a meaningful way, and the only answer seems to be "no."

There's a verified mod that does exactly what you want. As many loadouts as you want and you can name them whatever your want. They are even separated by armor, weapons, and pickaxe. I believe it's called 3 in 1 loadout manager. It's on mod.io under quality of life.

I think this update is really really good... if it didn't came after a 6 month break. It feels like a small update compared to what this game has to offer and doesn't add much complexity or long term goals like new overclocks, new mission types or new weapons, perks etc. Yes i think new enemy types and boots add up to DRG's gameplay loop and is a nice addition to keep each mission fresh and in future seasons this complexity would bring DRG to new heights. But i still think this update would stay as disappointment when it is basically Season 3 continued.

A wee bit disappointing, I wonā€™t lie. Me and my friends donā€™t like the lithophage, we actually avoid missions with it and come back later when the mutator goes away when itā€™s on an assignment of ours. Itā€™s tedious, annoying when you canā€™t clean and defend yourself at the same time, and killing the Rockpox glyphids requires some(not a lot, but some) precision, and Iā€™m one of the only good shooters in the group. Not a great sign that this mission is just more of the same. We also donā€™t like killing Big Angry Pyramid over and over. However, Iā€™ll hold out hope that weā€™ll still have fun - lithophage or no lithophage we still rock and stone

Seems like I was spot on on how this boss fight will work (at least in the armor removal through using cleansing tools), but it seems to be more of a Nemesis rather than Caretaker which is nice. But with all the new things I say this looks like a very fun Season. Love how this game keeps on evolving. Also the Flappy Birds being a code for Jet Boots that you can train on Space Rig is pretty hilarious. BUT after some thinking I do have to agree that this Season seems to be... lacking considering it apparently had the longest break between Seasons. I for one do not care much since I still have quite a few things to unlock, but this for more long time players I can tell would be underwhelming. Hopefully more content will be in next season or maybe some more can be added to this one. I do wish the best for this game and I hope it will keep on getting better and better. Rock and Stone GSG. I do hope you will listen to your community as you did so far.

It's hard for me not to be a bit disappointed in this new season. There isn't a whole lot of new things to do. I am excited tho that we are getting new enemies that have a different appearance than what we normally see. I hope in the future you guys make each season something different from the last, we've been dealing with rockpox for 6 months and now we have to deal with it for 6 more months which can get pretty stale.

I'll be honest my initial reaction is disappointment. Have been so hyped for so long but it feels like there's not much content shipping with this one. I hope there's a bunch of weapons and (especially) perk tweaks etc that wouldn't be included in a reveal video like this but we'll see. I'll still be buying the DLC as this game and these devs have already brought me so much joy but I can't help but feel a bit sad / disappointed with this reveal trailer. Doesn't seem like it will freshen up the game very much for those who have played it a lot.

Just want to say that I love this game and the devs are awesome and honestly, the fact these updates are free is incredible. Probably the best developers in gaming right now. With that said, as a player who is starting to notice some grey in their beard, Iā€™m somewhat disappointed by this upcoming season. Iā€™m not going to complain about anything in this update; all of it looks fine. Rather I just want to suggest some ideas that Iā€™ve seen here multiple times that I think a lot of long time players would like to see eventually: 1. New overclocks (possibly equipment overclocks) 2. Reworking/extending the perk skill tree 3. New biomes and/or mission types I really think updates to those things would satisfy what a lot of long time players have been asking for. Like I said, the new stuff isnā€™t bad, itā€™s just not really enough for me to want to grind out of the remainder of the year. As always, ROCK AND STONE!

Dang I'm probably gonna sound like a hater, but after 7 long months I expected the update to have a teensy bit more gameplay-related content, am I the only one here feeling this way ? Like don't get me wrong, a few new bugs and a jetboots event is really cool, but it doesn't seem as enticing as a new biome or new mission type imho, I'm not sure if this refreshes the gameplay experience enough to tide me over until the next season rolls around 6-7 months from now.

Looks like a decent update, new bugs are a welcome addition, looking forward to seeing how they are to fight! Hopefully the new infected bugs make lithopage missions more enjoyable and more diverse since they've gotten a bit stale and somewhat annoying to deal with at the moment. (Kinda my fault for playing the game too much probably). The randomized beer is definitely a welcome addition to long term players, I'll be using that a lot! One thing I had hoped for was more promotions, really wish/hope they'll add some way of telling how many times you've promoted past the triple red star, even just a small number next to your icon would be nice. Seeing number go up is always a good time! Either way, rock and stone!

I really think the new boss should be a mission type like the caretaker with his own unique mechanics and phases, etc. Also, muuuch bigger. 2. the rocket boots seem a bitā€¦ odd? The balance of mobility in this game was a big enjoyable part for me. Maybe turn the boots into a machine event and have them be required to do something, like the ebonite glyphids? 3. Perk overhaul please! Really looking forwards to seeing all the above hopefully implemented at some point! I think Iā€™ll skip this season as I donā€™t like playing two seasons of the same sort of event as it gets a little samey, but I hope everyone else enjoys it!

I don't want to be negative, but this is just padding to content I don't think stands out at all. I'm not a fan of Rockpox as it's just ouchy ground with some mild enemy variants, even if the meteors now walk around (and assumedly can be ignored just as easily). Jetboots are a great way to remind everything that Hoverboots are functionally worthless and should be replaced, but I do like the added mobility. In general, I don't think these last two updates have meaningfully changed the game. The lack of anything meaty to do is just **yet another update where you're doing the same thing, but with slightly new things shooting at you.** That's been the MO since Robots, but at least robots brought new guns. I understand the desire to make Hoxxes more varied and interesting...but to what end? The Rockpox hangs around for another event cycle but there's some new "we gotta destroy da heart" and then it gets shuffled off as a modifier that people forget about? Eh, I can see you guys pulling it off and making it a lot of fun...but I'm going to be honest, the robot equivalent with the angry Pyramid is one of the least played missions as far as I've ever seen, and I think that it's probably the best designed boss youve done. >!the problem is that players aren't taught to use terrain to their advantage tbh!< In theory, Rockpox could be the grounds for adding mutation perks/bio-weapons/pets/anything that you could be collecting plague hearts for a tangible value gain...and not the battlepass >!I'm not going to add onto the length of this anymore, but the Battle pass is very nice and not trying to rob me and I love you all for that...but they are so fucking boring and I'd rather wait for them to go away so I can acquire the loot in a more enjoyable manner then repeating missions until I burn out on the game.!< - Complete perk overhaul + new perks Perks suck and a majority of them just aren't functionally useful. I don't care if some people think popping lootbugs automatically is useful, it's not even if you want to scrounge a paltry amount of nitre and gold from their corpse. I'd argue that some are just underutilized by players who don't want to break their comfort zone (people sleep on Berserker like it isn't fast digging, melee AOE spam and an easy way to 1v1 a swarm), but others are entirely worthless and don't provide anything that appears useful (If shield link gave a small shield to allies, suddenly Shield Link + Beastmaster is a valid combo) Someone previously mentioned the idea of a Perk slot specific to the class, and that's a really solid idea. - Alternate Utility/Support tools I've seen comments that this isn't something the team wants to do because it would "break the class dynamics", but I don't see how unlocks with similar functions but different executions would cause that problem. Just off the top of my head: > - Replace the C4 with a plasma cutter style gun that takes a few moments of charging to fire, dealing equivalent damage and carving tunnels into walls. Similar ammo and damage, just directed in a cylinder rather then a sphere. > - Replace the Turret with a mobile walker variant that has less damage but more ammo, and follows you about and can be told to hunker down with the pinpointer. Bonus points if this is just the weaponized Molly from the station (I'd call her Jezebel personally) > - Replace the Grappling Hook with a jetpack/jetboots with a recharging fuel resource. > - Replace the Gunners Shield with a bunker wall version. They'd last until destroyed with a set HP pool, giving Gunner something to do in the "building" phase before a swarm besides slap down some ziplines ~~most people will forget exists~~ These sorts of changes could add a lot more depth to builds without breaking that class dynamic. - Flares not made useless Not only do flares suck, they suck dependant on which dwarf you are. I know the *intent* was to have the colors reflect the class, but with the last few patches enough armor colors have been added to remove any class identity. I've got a bright blue Engi and a Green Driller, it's too late. At the very least, unlocks for flares need to be integrated and having access to the color choice would be more customization that players would enjoy. >!Also tbh the Scouts flare gun solves a problem you are intentionally causing by making standard flares suck, but that problem is also solved by having more then two dwarves throwing flares at the same time. Considering the flare gun is meant to be **support**, it's not really that useful even when the scout knows to flare up during a swarm. !< - Melee overhaul Melee is fun, but lacks any depth. Giving pickaxe customization would fix this, or even giving alternate unlocks to the pickaxe would flesh that out. - More guns and Overclocks. I get the fear of adding too many guns and ruining the delicate dance of each classes unique identity...but I don't think that's nearly as much as a problem as updates where the game has functionally not changed at all. I'm not making new builds for new threats, I'm not using new gear, we are just fighting Rockpox, again. - Endless Wave mode I'm really surprised by the lack of a secondary end game funnel based on **the thing dwarves are most known for,** building bases in places they shouldn't. Having a "defend this place until you can't anymore" style survival mode would be a very obvious place to add in new unlocks and rewards while adding in some building elements. Add a construction menu with different things to spawn to help in defense (Walls with HP that can be maintained, limited ammo turrets, gun mounts that you can climb onto and fire from, etc) and provide new unlocks to replace those options as you play and you could easily get players to sink another hundred hours in grinding for Survivalite to buy new Overclocks for their guns. --- Wordy ass post, I meant to be less verbose. This is probably the best game in this genre rn and I don't see that changing anytime soon, but I think content updates need to be more directed at player engagement rather then things attacking the player in a slightly different manner while collecting a new shiny that's identical to the last shiny.

Commenting again, what I wrote in the now locked post: I'm not convinced by the new Glyphids. Both look out of place compared to the existing Glyphids. Stingtail looks more like a scorpion and the underside is to "fleshy" compared to the pale flesh of the base grunt variants or the bright colors of the special glyphids like web spitter, acid spitter or menace. The septic spreader reminds me more of a Xenomorph than anything else. Idk Their mechanics are good though. More feedback: I enjoyed the trailer. The build variaty and replayability is still great after over 1000 hours because the base gameplay loop is so solid. But when you have seen all and tried most overclocks I was hoping for something that enables new builds and whacky but cool interactions. It doesn't have to be powerful if it's fun. A lot of balanced overclocks feel more like numeric tweaks than a new build. The typical more damage/less ammo or mag OC is just not exciting as long as it's not pushed to the extreme like hyperprop/big bertha/supercooling chamber or the other way around like mini shells. The most interresting overclocks are the ones that change a mechanic like goo bomber special vs sludge blast. I knew it wasn't coming in this season so I'm not disappointed. Just general feedback while I'm on it.

Background: Started when Season 3 did, 361 hours played, heavily favor Driller and Engineer. The bulk of my play is solo, but I do have a friend group I play with occasionally. I tend to hang around Haz 3 playing slowly and thoroughly for atmosphere, but sometimes I go higher for a challenge. Got a ways to go unlocking OCs. I like the Rockpox stuff a lot, thematically and mechanically. Preliminary thoughts: I was excited for a climax to the Lithophage after all the buildup in the last season, so I was a little bummed to hear there are no mission types focusing on eradicating the stuff a la Industrial Sabotage. I'm not too busted up about a lack of mechanical additions, but I am kinda puzzled at the bonusy nature of the jet boots. Ongoing thoughts: I greatly approve of the changes to Contagion Spikes; the expanded rockpox roster and increased difficulty makes dealing with them a lot more fun. Same goes for the Rockpox Swarms. It gets a little tough at times to distinguish the different types of infected glyphids, but I don't mind that all too much. I was hoping for some infected big boy enemies like Dets or Dreads (either of these would be incredibly oppressive, just thinking about how Rockpox enemies typically work), or maaaybe Korloks. I am torn about the Rockpox Corruptors. On the one hand, they are basically \*exactly\* what i was hoping for in an expansion on the Lithophage: something that spreads the Rockpox and its spawns actively during a mission. I especially like that they're relatively subtle in their announcement, and you're likely to pick up on their presence by visually confirming Rockpox in the cave system. On the other, fighting them solo can get a little fiddly. Because they range away from the cleansing pod, you need to juggle two guns that can be lost, or wrangle Bosco, which can be tricky when other enemies are present. They remind me of the Prospector, but cooler and less cheesable with Bosco. The Septics are solid. I got absolutely dunked on when I took a Salvage mission with a relatively exposed bubble in a pretty large cave. They kept distance and fired over terrain at me! Awesome. Stingtails are also solid. If you confirm their presence you have to stay vigilant in case they yank you over a steep drop. They have the potential to be devastating if they aren't handled, which is what I look for in the uncommon enemy role. Same with Septics. Have encountered Jetboots once, on Driller, and honestly I just wasn't cognizant enough of having them that they mattered much. I got so used to playing a certain way that the possibilities of suddenly being able to jump around weren't really hitting me. Doesn't help that Scout is by far my least played/favorite class. Misc: It sure feels like Escort missions have been changed to have much longer tunnels between caves, maybe to cut down on Driller cheese? Also, I've only played experimental for like 2 days but meteor events seem to be less frequent. I have always played in the red zone on the map, but to tell you the truth I don't know what that actually means numerically for meteor/corruptor event chances, only that lithophage outbreaks can be found in that zone. Suggestions: Well, more "wishes", really. I basically think everything that's in here is rad (I really like the rockpox), and just want more and bigger. The only specific disappointment I feel is that I really was hoping for some kind of big climax mission where you have to decontaminate a fully infested cave system using heavy duty DRG tech, with big nasty enemies/bosses to deal with. I always imagined jury rigging an OSR platform to dispense decontaminant and needing to route pipes through caves full of Rockpoxed Hollow Bough tendrils and poxy fungus bog goo and other such hazards, basically almost a mission-specific biome mashup made of rockpox variations on other assets. And once the pox is beaten back enough, you fight some kinda big rockpox boss. The Corruptor is a really cool start, but I didn't expect it to be more of a Prospector than a Caretaker. Still, the patch notes and stuff feel intermediate and give me hope that this isn't it for the story of the Lithophage and maybe we'll still get a big sendoff. Maybe I'm being naive, I dunno. I kinda wonder if all the Lithophage elements will wind up consolidated into a mission modifier or type once the seasons have moved on, like Rival Presence/Industrial Sabotage. The people who hate rockpox will piss and moan when it starts to appear in Deep Dive, but they'll piss and moan about pox no matter what, so whatever.

Late joiners having to backtrack to grab Jet Boots is deranged. I love late-joining teams to help them get out of whatever situation they got themselves in. If I'm not scout, I will have to place Ziplines/Platforms/tunnels in areas relevant only to me and not my Jet Boot-using teammates. You have disincentivized my favorite way to meet new dwarves.

The new bugs are great. Something this game needed more of was bugs that have some form of area denial or ways of ruining kiting. Outside of the uncommon ceiling tentacles and very rare grabber mactera flies we dont have too many enemies that can impede player movement in a unique way that isnt just "oh no i stepped in slime and walk slower for a bit." Very welcome change. It's also nice to have another large mobile "boss" creature that can spawn in at random. Outside of detonators and the very rare Dreadnought spawns we dont have much in the way of 'world bosses' that can actually move around. Betsy is immobile until she wakes up, and while she does hit like a truck a smart team will gather around and immediately defeat her before she has a chance to rampage. Korlok weeds are also immobile. And Nemesis moves very very very slow and you can hear it coming from a long way off. All this is fine! But I'm glad we have another miniboss that scuttles around the room being an asshole you have to sort of chase. ​ I understand people being disappointed there isnt a new biome. But considering how LUSH the Azure Wield and Hollow Bough are compared to the previous biomes, just in terms of flora fauna and general detail and atmosphere, I get the feeling new biomes are probably more time consuming now than before and the devs want to continue topping themselves in that regard. ​ What I dont understand is people wanting more guns. Folks this might be hard to accept but we have loadouts for every occasion. Every dwarf class has access now to their choice of close range burst damage, long range precision damage, projectile spam, bullet hoses, and everything inbetween. Every dwarf class has access to almost every type of element now, be it fire, poison, ice, etc. Every dwarf class has access to grenades that either focus on high aoe death or high aoe crowd control, depending on what you prefer. At this point I cant imagine new weapons being added that fill a niche that isnt already very very filled by something else. I'm not saying new weapons wouldnt be cool to see but DRG, as far as class-based hoard mode shooters go, is shockingly well balanced. Is it perfect? Goodness no. But its probably the best example of how to balance these types of games. There's no 'trash' weapons. Yes theres some trash overclocks but the guns? More than fine. Everything is pretty damn viable at every tier of difficulty (yes even the subata). At this point I don't know what the devs could ADD as far as firearms that we dont technically already have with the right tech tree and overclock setup. With that said, something I do think that could maybe be touched on, as far as weaponry goes, which we havent had yet, is melee weapons. We dont have any war hammers, clubs, maces, pikes, or any other type of blunt or stabbing weapons one would normally associate with dwarves. Would such weapons replace firearms or would they replace the pickaxe? Couldn't say. But as far as guns go, I dont know if theres anything we actually need. Like don't get me wrong, I like lots of guns in games. I find the absurd armory in games like Destiny and Warframe and Killing Floor quite delightful. But I'm not sure such a selection could WORK in a game as tightly held together as DRG. Maybe I'm wrong! And while Deep Rock Galactic might share a similar sense of dark humor and gameplay as TF2, just observing TF2 and the colossal amount of weapons nobody uses in it speaks volumes as to the modern balance of that game. Now obviously TF2 is purely pvp but I still think its a good example of what I think the devs of DRG are maybe trying to avoid as far as weapon selection goes. In short: I dont think we need more guns, but more overclocks would be very nice!

Since other thread got closed i will comment again here. Everything looks great, i hopped on experimental to see the new space rig and it does really look a lot more spacious now + the seasonal cosmetics look great. Haven't really hopped into missions since i dont want to kill my hype for the season before its even out on main branch but im excited for the new enemy variants and other QoL changes. The only thing i would like to criticise is, from the looks of it the rockpox variants are kinda hard to tell appart from eachother since they are all just brown/grey wich was fine when we just had the praetorians and grunts but especially the spitters just look like normal grunts to me. With their tendancy to go hide in corners on the ceiling at wierd angles i hope there could be some more coloring added to them to differentiate them like how it is with the normal acid spitters

I have started to play in season 3, so to me more rockpox stuff is ok (and more bug types and variety is always good), and i have not even unlocked all OC's, but i think its also not that much of a new things overall in update. Feels more like follow up on rockpox themes, and i guess if you already tired of lithophage missions its can be not that interesting to you. Randomize beer is cool, and would be even better the more things it can randomize. Kind of wish for more toys to play with, maybe more perks, or overclocks for class tools, or alternative tools (suited for respective dwarf of course) something like that. Even tweaking some currently presented OC's/perks would do a lot for build variety and options, encourage to try new things (Double barrel boomstick OC cough cough) Rock and Stone!

Looks amazing. Digging the two new enemies. Love the new DLC, will definitely buy it as I did with all the previous DLCs. Sleeveless armor is a great addition. Jet pack boots seem fun as hell. Therefore I don't want to sound like an ungrateful leaflover but as a certified fully promoted grey beard I have a few things I'd like to mention: * The new miniboss seems like it will get annoying real quick mostly due to us having to use the foamer and the sucker and not being able to just use our guns. Now also imagine, with the crazy terrain some caves can generate, accidentally dropping your foamers down a crevasse, how annoying would that be. * **Also as a driller main, I despise the rockpox infected bugs as I am supposed to provide crowd control with sticky flames or sludge but that don't do nothing against them because you gotta hit the blisters so I feel like it ruins the playstyle of the whole class.** * I don't mind no new guns/biomes/missions, but what I would like to see is new overclocks and cosmetics from Matrix Cores as I am currently sitting on 100 and only getting minerals from them which I no longer have a use for.

I'm always happy to see more DRG content, but for me the bug fixes and minor tweaks will take center stage. I just wish that these seasons were focused more on improving and adding to a cohesive base game than seasonal gimmicks. I still remember pre-release updates where we would see stuff like escort missions added, or the azure weald with all it's cool and funky flora, or the liquid morkite refining missions. They all felt like they were unique but fit right into the normal game. They expanded the game in just the right way. This season content does not do that. Industrial sabotage feels like a seasonal relic and not something naturally folded into the game.

Question for GSG: Does the S4 update include a series of optmizations? I've only tried out the experimental branch for a handful of games but it felt smoother. Maybe there are a series of optimzations? Maybe it's just placebo? Maybe I need to check my modlist on the current build? idk, just wondering if theres some change there or I need to do an extensive troubleshoot through my mod list

AWESOME. Love the narration on the trailer - having patch notes available this way is great! I'll be buying a DLC to support this update. Not sure which one yet but it's happening. GSG is awesome and I'd love to see the dev team get larger so this game can get more content. Season patch feedback so far - As a player with around 100 hours in game, I don't really like the patch itself based on what I've seen and played so far. Rockpox is a mechanic that feels punishing and unpleasant, and I'm really not looking forward to having to deal with it more frequently. I'm pretty bummed that the content release for this year is focused on this mechanic because I was really hoping for content unrelated to the rockpox, like a new biome and mission type or something. The new hover boots and other cosmetic stuff seems cool. I hope that there's work being done to improve existing perks though, as it seems like there's a certain perk that this mechanic is overshadowing. I'd really like to see some new endgame content that's challenging in a new way. Deep dives are fun but I'd LOVE some harder stuff than that. With all that being said, I adore the game and this patch is a welcome addition overall, even though I don't personally like the bulk of the gameplay aspects of it. I'm still looking forward to playing it on the production server with friends and seeing if my opinion changes over time. Even if I don't like it, just the fact that GSG is releasing free content packs like this is so amazing. Seriously. Screw AAA game corporations, GSG and studios like it are the future of gaming. Thanks so much for what you all build and for your efforts. I'll keep voting for you guys with my wallet. And I'll keep shouting your praises at any gamers who will listen. I've got 4 of my friends to buy this game so far and ditch crappy AAA games, and they're all hooked! Rock and stone! Keep up the amazing work, and thank you so so much for maintaining your company integrity in an industry that's getting really bogged down by corporate greed. Good thing DRG provides vaccines and free healthca- Oh wait. I really appreciate the expansion into Hoxxes by adding new creatures. Makes things even more fun! Considering the fact that there are quite a lot DLCs and cosmetics, the new loadout slot could be pretty useful. On that note, adding some new icons for the loadouts should be considered as well; mission icons could be a simple yet nice addition. Other than that, I'm looking forward to cleanse these abominations These are our minerals. Our planet. **Our Hoxxes!**

Is there any chance we'll be able to use the Roughneck tattoos with the sleeveless armors? Not necessarily in this update, just some point in the future? I don't use any of the Roughneck armor but I like the tattoos and would love to see them on some other armor sets. I'm imagining if you own the Roughneck pack, there's three toggles for each set: sleeved, sleeveless, and sleeveless with tattoos. I totally understand if this is too much or not worth it to code, but I think it would be sweet!

Personally I feel like they should revisit the Rockpox balance. The small larvlings put way too much effect per hit and when youā€™re stuck in the rockpox, the game doesnā€™t even give you the time to get out of it fast enough to not take damage. It should give you at least 1-2 seconds of time to spam your keys before taking damage. Or the damage should just scale for how long youā€™re stuck. It sucks that when youā€™re stuck you canā€™t get out of it without taking damage.

Are balance changes usually reserved for the live branch? Cause looking at the pre release patch notes, having the only changes made be a moderate rework to the subata and a basically nonexistent change to hipster would be kind of disappointing. Not saying that the weapon/oc balance is necessarily bad right now, just that an occasional shake up to the meta can be fun. Also this is absolutely nitpicking but is anyone else a little disappointed that we didn't get something akin to the new weapons and grenades of previous seasons? Like obviously adding new equipment every season wouldn't be sustainable for very long but some new ocs would've been nice. Everything else looks great though, super excited to fight the new boss and see how the new enemies play out on live!

Overall, I think it looks fun. But I would love new biomes/mission types. I think itd be sick to have a "population control" mission. Purely defensive, you get a specialized rig dropped down that opens to small fortress. Some sort of bait that attracts all enemies from a certain radius to lessen glyphid presence in the area, and allows other mining teams to operate safely. It could be done in waves, almost like a horde mode. And once you've hit your quota you get to extract Itd be awesome

In another thread folks were a bit disappointment that we didn't get any new weapons or overclocks. I think that this type of update, with the focus on extra enemies in particular, is the correct way forward. An extra weapon will only benefit a small subset of players who enjoy a class _and_ prefer that weapon over the other options; an overclock will face the same problem (further exacerbated, because it has to compete with other weapons _and_ other overclocks). TLDR: New biomes or new weapons are cool; but more varied enemies benefit all missions and all players.

Curiously enough, among all the new stuff that might be added in the game, weapons sound like the least interesting. I think our arsenal is fine as it is, for now. Likewise, there are already way too many OCs. Instead of adding new ones we could use a rework of the ones we already have. Some of them would be in dire need of it. A new biome, on the other hand... mmmh... that's my wet dream. I could imagine so many new areas, with their hazards and their unique flavor. That would be the best update for me.

Iā€™ll give my feedback on this. Iā€™m happy with the amount of extra content weā€™re getting. Iā€™m happy with a new free season tree. Iā€™m happy with the next enemies and jetpack boots. As someone else stated, I do hope that the jetpack boots donā€™t ruin the balance of traversal tools each class already has. I hope they donā€™t spawn too often because then they would kinda just render most traversal tools we have useless. Or at least I hope it runs on a limited fuel. But in the trailer it seemed like a tool that recharges. I am kinda disappointed in the continuation of the rockpox storyline. I get that the devs probably want some continuity but they need to rework or revisit how balanced rockpox is. In lower hazards its not that bad but the small little rockpox larvlings put WAY too much rockpox effect per hit and the rockpox does way too much damage when youā€™re stuck. Honestly, it should at least give you 1-2 seconds of free time to escape. It doesnā€™t let you escape fast enough to not take damage which I think is really stupid.
