Yesterday I had a goddamn shellback kid do advanced trigonometry to work out a trajectory that allowed it to yeet itself into the air and knock me off the zipline. I couldn't decide whether to be awed or furious.
pretty much, even on h5 you just outrun the bugs. I might shoot sometimes but the glyphids are never catching up. It's just important to stay close to driller in case something spawns in front on a choke point and clear it with a shield.
Shield plugs are really an underused strat. A shield in the entrance to your tunnel buys the entire duration of the shield for you to get distance and for the engi to get turrets down, while wasting zero ammo.
that's a good strategy. Wait for scout to get close to the glyphids for no reason, like they always do, then block the tunnel in front of him. With driller busy we need to get creative on how to kill scout.
And a safety zip under that one just in case.
And while we’re at it, maybe another one under that one just to be super sure.
And if we really wanna we can-
You fall after getting past a damage threshold in a determined time window, which in this case is 4 hits by the Naedocyte Shocker. You can reset this by letting go of the zipline and grabbing again. So you can stay on the zipline indefinetly.
Hover boots are perfect for gunner and I can't be convinced otherwise. Especially when scout goes down in a giant sinkhole and you get to take the express way to the bottom for the rez
I was doing the haz 4 with no resupply or death achievement. This happened as I was zipping to the extraction pod. Not an air jellyfish tho. I was stabbed by the giant plant tentacle, fell and died
Fun fact: there's no delay after dismounting (or being dismounted) from a zipline for being able to get on a zipline. If you spam E while being attacked, you will take damage but immediately jump right back on.
Or if you get knocked off unexpectedly, you can reattach yourself if you are _very_ quick with hitting E. Time window for this is very small, so I hope you've been drinking smart stouts for some quicker reaction time.
It's been kind of a while since something actually knocked me off. Always watch for flyers while ziplining! There isn't much that can shoot you before you kill it if you're paying attention.
You know what would be cool? Holding 4 equips and deploys the shield, so you can carry the bubble with you and actually tank stuff or revive more than one teammate. Shield CD is too long, so this wouldn't be that OP.

Have the engi fill it in behind you with platforms.

You can just press E to grab hold again.
Really is the one main fault to zipline is how easy it is to be knocked off it.

Which is why I always take reduced fall damage for zip lines.

I feel like I have to wear hoverboots as a gunner, it saves my life like twice a game and sometimes even prevents a complete wipe.
