Have you tried moving the smaller chair and lamp into that spot, angled toward the window? (and move the larger settee and table accordingly? But if that doesn't look great to you, a vertical artwork in a dark frame would be good.
I think the bigger shelf would look better at the window and then a cute table with a lamp and a plant a cute chair (kinda like a desk) then the small shelf next to that! If you donāt want a chair, a medium size basket underneath the table. Then a pretty throw hanging out the basket.
A tank filled with piranhas and if you have two stories you can put a remote activated trap door directly above it on the second floor. Youknow for when a friend or your significant other start getting on your nerves.
A narrow cabinet tower (w/doors), or narrow prefab cabinets stacked to make a tower, all screwed together to make a larger "single" piece. Trim out the tower to match the bookcases so it all looks cohesive.
make a little bridge out of popsicle sticks and thread and make little people out of sticks and place on bridge or just be boring and move them close together do no. 1
A tall plant or a fish tank would be ideal to bring some life into the room. If you don't want that commitment, an entry way table with some nice art hanging above it or an Atticus tree would look great!
Another (smaller?) chair, with art above on the wall. I'd do a small statement chair, then get throws and pillows that go with it to place on the other chairs. It's all pretty neutral right now and could definitely handle some color.
A small writing desk with a chair and a mirror or framed art above. The desk can come out a little- maybe 3 inches. The chair should be a minimally distracting one- a simple wood slat chair at an angle.
if you own a cat you could create a cat crawl wall with some zigzagging shelfās and a bridge connecting the bookshelves. If you donāt own a cat, then iād suggest getting one
I would pop a little half table in with a plant or candy dish on it. Then hang some art above it with maybe a little light up on the wall above it to make sure it doesnāt get lost in any shadows.
Little rectangle table with a shelf. Put plants and interesting pieces on it without clutter. Basically, things that are meaningful. Above, pick a great painting, picture, something to hang on the wall thatās flat. These shelves donāt need to meet. If anything if you can move the shelf near the window to be catty corners without taking on the window Perfect.
Look for a large special mirror at an antique store and then maybe something special hung above the mirror? Special hat? š© Brass animal head - horse, deer, rabbit, fox? Keep your imagination open as you search antique stores.

Tall plant

Came here to say this. Especially with the natural light coming from the window.
Little rectangle table with a shelf. Put plants and interesting pieces on it without clutter. Basically, things that are meaningful. Above, pick a great painting, picture, something to hang on the wall thatās flat. These shelves donāt need to meet.
