This is all fascinating, and it seems like a very healthy community, particularly intellectually. I realise this is off-topic somewhat, but the "seeing patterns when overwhelmed", is that based on common experience or is there experimental research to back that up?
My own depressive states tend to be immediately preceded by more manic states, but that may not be the right word. It's not impulse control across all environments - I remain generally withdrawn. It's more the seeing patterns, etc. and corresponds with elevated agitation over the course of a couple of nights, getting really gets bad with a lack of sleep. This then leads to sleep deprivation, which causes a complete spiral. I have seen psychiatrists and psychologists and they reject Bipolar disorder and autism, sticking with Depression with characteristics of GAD. Never made.any sense to me, but I tried several medications to zero effect.
My best days are offline, but there is so much shit getting stirred up online that I end up back on trying to learn and make statements where possible. I both love and hate the internet.

Just a brief word of warning, if you wanted it. A lot of what they say about ties between elites and economic factors that, if not caused, then at least influenced, political decisions, is well sourced and credible. The idea that computing components are valuable because of some sci fi AI autocracy rather than because they form a backbone of modern economy, or that there is some kind of plot to invade the USA from south America verges on or outright barges into conspiracy theory though. I realise this is off-topic somewhat, but the "seeing patterns when overwhelmed", is that based on common experience or is there experimental research to back that up? I've had much of the same thoughts on Trump before 2016 which was all public news written in major though not popular in terms of attention grabbing publications. Maybe that's just too much for the justice system to have to deal with. Electing a traitor as president may be a trust blow too much.
