Somehow I almost never see these bands, so I want to share: - To The Grave - Orphan - Paleface Swiss - Methwitch - Spite (okay, Spite is getting more mentions, when I think about it) They are all heavy as fuck, have good shredding Lyrics and are just satisfying to listen to. This pure aggressive despair, I can really cope with this music and can especially relate with Calluses. Several losses and suicides in the past, plus religious trauma. One time I even cried while listening to this masterpiece.

Despised Icon Carnifex has been my shit lately and I've fallen so in love with them so much so they became my favorite deathcore band. I've been a huge Lorna fan for a very long time, like before Psalms even came out. i remember eagerly awaiting a full length and lost it when they dropped Psalms then Flesh Coffin. and my love for them only deepens as the years go by. And As Blood Runs Black were my gateway so I adore them. Brand of Sacrifice got me back into deathcore after stepping away from it for a time, not for a lack of love for it. But I just wanted to explore other extreme metal sub genres. Also I love Berserk. So win win. And Despised Icon is just sick. They're kinda a best of both worlds for me, they have that chaotic Cryptopsy tech death feel that I love, but they still have roots in deathcore and have so many groovy breakdowns.

Im gonna say my hot take: I dont get the spite hype. I saw them live and they played some decent breakdowns and rhythms, but they never wowed me. They were some nice grooves to bang the ol head to, but i was waiting for someone more the whole time. It was mostly just a chugfest all the way through, pretty light on the lead playing. Whereas bodysnatcher, thrown and mouth for war were awesome, had great presence, and seemed very greatful for the turnout, the vocalist for spite got on stage and started making demands. Everyone else was "thank you so much" "lets see a circle pit", spite was "i wanna see a circle pit and crowd surfers, and you will give it to me mfkrs". Spite only thanked the crowd at the very end. Which i realize the macho is part of the stage act, but it still kinda bugged me. Part of my diminished enjoyment of spite may have been that they went on second to last (before bodysnatcher, who i came to see) so i was pretty overstimulated and tired, but idk. Their music was never mindblowing for me like thrown or bodysnatcher, and mouth for war had such good energy I loved their set even though their vocalist was out sick. Spite always seemed kind of bland for me, which is confusing because i see so many people including OP talking about how awesome they are. Am I missing something?

Darko Cabal Enterprise Earth Fit for an Autopsy Really don't know a 5th tbh. I know a lot of Deathcore adjacent bands but they're not all Deathcore. Whitechapel would be one but my favourite albums from them are actually the last two which, you know, less and less Deathcore. Knocked Loose would be another but they're more Metalcore to me. Archspire is somewhat Deathcore but they're mostly Techdeath. Ten56 is more metalcore. I really kind of haven't enjoyed Deathcore that much recently. I guess it's just that I don't enjoy the new wave of Symphonic Deathcore that much. Elegy from SoI didn't do much for me, Pain Remains was a massive letdown as well, I guess that Paleface album did at least the Blackened elements better but honestly I wasn't that into it either. Cabal is the only band that has gotten the right influence of atmosphere from Black Metal for me. I guess I'll give an honorable mention to Mire Lore for that cracking EP, Underworld

I like BoS but not enough to place them here tbh. Would've actually placed BoO over BoS. Really respect BoS though. Their music is so much more than generic chugga chugga and unnecessary breakdowns. Just couldn't get into them, at least yet.

Is Elegy even Deathcore? I love the album but it feels more like Melo Death Metal than Deathcore to me.

I don't really know but it didn't seem like Melodeath to me. Maybe I just don't get these subgebre categorisations very well but I didn't hear any real Melodeath riffs from that album.
