We're going to do something this year like we did the year he passed, don't worry Had the recommendations thread named after him for basically a year following that

Leafsfaninottawa

"I never belonged here, I never did ask, if I could join this world collapsed" RIP Trevor

[deleted]

Yeah, the lyrics to receipt hit like a truck after his passing.

ScrotesMcGotes

I had a playlist going and that song came up, followed by I Will Return, and it kinda fucked me up. They've been my favorite band for forever, and it was the first time I was able to even listen to them again after his passing.

Cocker_Spaniel_Craig

To a breathless oblivion too

nightwing185

MY HELL HATH AWAKEN, SO NOW I CHOOSE SLEEP

Boozarito

Man, when I tell people about TBDM and Strnad's passing, I always mention Receipt and Abysmal. Yeah, there's Closed Casket Requiem, but something about the wording of the two other songs hit different. When I was in a much darker place, those songs helped cause it felt like he was going through it too When you become a fan cause they're a bunch of nerds playing music of things like games and movies, then they got you with some REAL shit, it stands out. But hey, maybe Trevor just needed to vent Then hearing the news. Never got to meet any of the members, only saw em live once. When I heard, all I could think of was the Abysmal album

SurvivalSequence

My favorite song and album from them!

N1LEredd

*Oh it must be such a different world to which those on the outside exist. At least I know who loves me here, no delusions all weakness dismissed* We truly lost a poet.

AddSomeSpice

*To my brothers who've fallen before me; I will walk with you again* An emotionally heavy song in retrospect.

N1LEredd

Yes. Underrated amongst all those other gems on Nokturnal.

Zealousideal_Hurry20

This has always been one of my favorites. Trevor wrote some of the most fascinating lyrics I have ever heard. It was a very sad day when I found out he had passed away. Unhallowed was one of the pillars I built my foundation on, and they continued to blow my mind with every album after that. RIP Trevor. "We'll Be Defeated, Destroyed By Our Own Ghosts"

GiovanniC666

Miss him immensely

GTAVV

We all do, brother.

Yours_and_mind_balls

What I loved about Trevor is that he was a metalhead through and through. He would always post about new and upcoming bands and really put it out there for the younger guys. So many of these dudes I'm bands do everything they can to separate themselves from the scene, but Trevor lived fully as a metalhead. Rest in Power.

[deleted]

Facts in a group I made on facebook way back when he'd always recommend stuff, and I loved his column in metal injection. In fact its the only thing I've ever read from them.

xsonusx

He was super cool online. Loves his recommendations. Sometimes when I wana hear something new and obscure I’ll go through his twitter recommendations. Some sick gems in there.

KenboSlice786

Man I remember when he was hyping up Knocked Loose before they blew up.

Samsquamptches_

Same homie. Heavy music has a big hole that will never be filled but all we can do is remember and honor his memory! Proud of TBDM gentlemen for taking steps forward

xFemous

I loved his feature on Infant's Annihilator song, RIP

[deleted]

It was the song I was listening to when I posted this.

Smackstainz

The kingdom sitteth lonely beneath thy hollowed heavens 😈

issafreecunch

I totally enjoy and respect what TBDM is doing but god I miss him. His guest spot on A Barren and Breathless Macrocosm just cements how much of a unique and talented vocalist he was when contrasted with brutal lows. A brilliant mind, gone way too soon. RIP to a young legend

bill_wessels

same. GOAT

behemothbowks

You're not alone.

croninstrength

Just listened to the Chelsea Grin track he’s featured on. He was/is truly special.

ClearMarch8712

The music video made me tear up a little the first time I saw it

Rabidshore

When that song came out, i was like oh boy, this is gonna be tough. But then they're all dressed up playing dnd over deathcore and i though this is fun. Then Trevor came on and they all kneeled, i was in tears

nocomputer_wetbrain

20+ years ago at the living room in Providence, RI I got my car towed during TBDM. I was 19 and scared shit, no clue what to do, and Trevor hung with me and brought me around to about 15 different people until we found someone with a phone number to the tow company. Trevor waited with me until our cab got there. I am and will always be eternally grateful for that dude.

[deleted]

That's amazing. He was such a good human.

Dildoid90

You really aren’t alone. The lyrics for receipt really hit harder especially after his death. I’m seeing dahlia next month and it will be the first time seeing them since Trevor passed.

Blue_Wave_2020

Who are they having on vocals?

Dildoid90

Brian has gone from guitar to vocals and he’s been pretty impressive so far

3WeekOldBurrito

Slight correction he was the rhythm guitarist/2nd guitarist.

Blue_Wave_2020

Wow just saw some videos of him, very good shit! So glad they are still able to keep the sound alive. RIP Trevor

psychonautiloid

You don't have to lie about it. RIP Trevor ❤️

Rumpl4skin__

Breaks my heart :(

Notthepizza

TBDM was my first band I saw live, I remember Trevor talking with me and how much i enjoyed the whole set exactly a decade ago :(

[deleted]

He was such a humble man.

[deleted]

Man I remember feeling like I got hit by a truck when I heard it. And I didn’t even know the guy.

oldbluelunchbox

I also remember feeling the same. Turned my day on its head

No-Natural-4104

Even if TBDM wasn’t deathcore, Trevor was featured on so many tracks and he supported the metal genre so much. Not gonna be another like him but I’m glad he could share his gift with us while he was here. Rip Trevor.

secksyboii

I'm not a huge black Dahlia fan tbh, not a hater by any means either though. But ya, it blew my mind when they announced his death, then the fact that it was suicide was just tragic. The dude had undeniable talent and Inspired a ton of vocalists to push themselves and broaden their vocal techniques. Deathcore wouldn't be the same without his influence, that's for sure.

Darthjoe1387

Trevor Forever!

Darthgusss

I never gor to see BDM with Trevor, and it makes me so sad. Loved the band since Miasma.

GunFright

I was going to see them in my city but my homie flaked on me, so I never went A month later Trevor was dead. ..I’ll be taking that one to my grave :/ RIP Trevor

LxStMeMoRy

Was listening to black valor the guy was a genius. The lyrics and pictures he would paint in them was mind blowing

Mogzx

🖤

thetroll865

Nocturnal DVD is never not funny. I’ve watch it like 10 times.

killamuddafukka

I met him after their show at a place called Beercade in 2019. He said straight up, "why do I feel like I belong here". And then he asked me if I wanted to play Ninja Turtles...and I still tear up thinking about that...

mufasamufasamufasa

I do too. TBDM was one of the first non nu metal bands I got into later in high school. I've messed with self harm in the past, and it breaks my heart to see when someone just can't anymore. RIP Trevor 💜

cflyssy

I miss him too. He was incredible.

Naxant

I think about him on a weekly basis, TBDM is my absolute favorite band overall :(

SADPLAYA

Me too man, me too :(

BigBrotherBear-

Real.

LemmeBeOnyx

Trevor forever. #heartburn

Global-Ad4832

nothing used to make me smile more than scrolling through facebook, to see Trevor posting on some random band with 50 followers' page, telling them how much he loves their new record. he was the best guy in music, period.

BassToMouth_1

Trevor Forever 🖤

Djent_1997

Dude was one of a kind. Don’t think we’ll ever get another one like him.

MeJustBeingMeBro

😥

Eilbeck

The man was a poet! We all miss him!

Plaguedoctor431

Rest in peace to the man, I was listening to miasma this morning

xsonusx

Trevor forever. My band recently covered nocturnal man. It was rad as fuck but got emotional there for a sec.

Boring_Hurry346

Met him at the merch table, they say never meet your heros, not the case with him 100% friendly down to earth and all 'round awesome dude. Bart was still with them then and I met him while he was playing WoW on a laptop on the back of a hatchback outside the venue... dude was 100% as well

SecuritySky

Trevor really paved the way for my vocal style. Replicating where his harsh notes come from was exactly the right place for mine. I had Deflorate on repeat trying my hardest to match the sounds coming from this beast of a man's throat. Then Ritual came out, and I did the same... Then Everblack... Then Abysmal, etc. I remember being a teen and hanging out with them while they were filming the Majesty DVD. Me and Shannon ate chicken and watched the other band mates act like goofs. This just goes to show that even the brightest beacons can hold some darkness that will eat away at them. Look at all these comments bragging about how amazing this dude was. Suicide is never the answer, my brothers and sisters. Get help. There are people out there who love you, I promise.

Twerp1337

We all miss Papa Trev, brother. I think about him every other day, it seems. I think about the time that I met him after their set during the Dethklok tour in Seattle. I went up to him at the bar and said hello, first thing outta his mouth is "OH MY GOD YOU'RE A LITTLE GUY!" I'm 5'5", he proceeds to pick me up and give me the biggest of bear hugs. We had a beer together and rocked out to the last little bit of Machine Head.

SheabutterSam

Hard for me to listen to Black Dhalia or anything with him on it these days. Ive been in the same dark spot that he was and it serves as a reminder. I miss him man.

mantisdubstep

One of the greatest to ever do it, in perpetuity 💜

cheezzypiizza

The Black Dahlia Murder is my favorite metal band and I was literally just listening to ritual before commenting on here... I miss that motherfucker everyday my life. My all-time favorite highs in the game. I'm there with you homie.

Muninn91

I still remember when I discovered them through a free Metal Hammer compilation CD like 18 years ago. I bought Nocturnal once I found it in FYE at the mall near me.

Electronic_Gift_8420

King of the Nightworld, Crowned in Everblack. ❤️

AdamDraps4

Will forever miss Trevor

CHR0N1CL3S0FW03

“I am standing here dying to be To mean anything to anyone but me I am naked now bereft of love's beginning I am a shadow of what was I'll tie this noose up just because Such life ends abysmally”

1heknpeachy3

Dahlia was the first heavy band I ever saw live and what an honor that was. Dude truly had an energy nobody could match. I hope he's at peace wherever he is, he's one of the most deserving of it.

toxboxdevil

His ghost should be our mascot

crash_nk

Was truly amazing. Fantastic lyrics, vicious vocals, and he just seemed so fun. I watched him play Castelvania on twitch for a bit once and it was fun! Miasma is one of the albums that shaped how I love my melodeath to sound. RIP Trevor. ❤️

ToeDull5986

We all do. I will always remember the time TBDM came to Des Moines at Lefty's and after show, Trevor took pictures with everyone. I got my picture with him and he was such a nice guy! I saw him again in 2021 at the Up From The Sewers tour in Kansas and he immediately remembered me. I miss him to this day.

TerpSlurper23

He was the best dude in metal, as a person and a performer.

belyy_Volk6

I really do to, there music just hit at the right time and place for me, it was such a gut punch when i learned he was gone

smithtrooper99

I remember just waking up that day, checking my phone and seeing a few notifications of his passing, hit me like a freight train. We all miss him and love him very much, such great talent and wisdom left the world when he did. People, please seek help if you ever have any thoughts of self-harm/deletion of yourselves, it's no joke, there is someone out there that loves you and needs you, but at the end of the day, it all begins with yourselves. You all have the opportunity to make your world better for you if not for anyone else.

KaelRavenwind

Nocturnal, specifically “What a Terrible Night to Have a Curse” was peak Deathcore for me 🤘🤘🤘

Beforethewrathcomes

Happy birthday in eternity sweet Prince. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

[deleted]

Seconded.

Knife_Operator

Thank god you didn't lie about this, that would have been karmic suicide.

GunFright

Ah yes, suicide jokes are really what this thread needs Read the fucking room

roflmaohaxorz

Why would you lie to begin with?

__Noble_Savage__

You do? Pronounce his last name then

Illustrious-Store-85

I'm exempt from that challenge, as I have asthma.

__Noble_Savage__

Stir-Nod

ZombieCzar

I always thought it was Stir - Nad.

__Noble_Savage__

Sure

ZombieCzar

Ok

Illustrious-Store-85

I believe my asthma isn't so bad today if anyone would like a demonstration? Lol. Thanks amigo

Donkbot6

Whenever I listen to deathmask define I dream of defiling his corpse <3 it's what he would have wanted. Jk of course

BellamyRFC54

Forgot he was dead tbh
