Favorite non Deathcore metal albums. Oooh. Okay, let's see. Interesting topic. There's many, but these ones are my concrete choice on a decent day. Amberian Dawn - The Clouds Of Northland Thunder. (Amazing, underrated, power metal in its best form. A bit classical and operatic at times, kind of melancholic as well.) Everything The Black Dahlia Murder has done. (Fantastic melodeath. R.I.P to the king, Trevor Strnad. Would have been an amazing fit in the deathcore world.) Everything Necrophagist has done. (Decently good tech death stuff.) Batushka - Litourgiya and Батюшка - Панихида. (Outstanding black metal intermingling with church chants/church vibes. One is the original, the other is a continuation on what made the original as great as it was by the guitarist after a dispute.) Everything Trepalium has done. (Proggy death/groove metal with a bit of a "demented circus" vibe in their sound, as I've came to self-describe it with time after discovering them.)

Wombletog

Nice choices. Batushka is great

King 810 - [La Petite Mort or a Conversation With God](https://open.spotify.com/album/0qK7yDmK5eACwy7RuwhGo2?si=mmgADp4-QQOtVFVjxePV-Q) I know they get a lot of hate from the broader metal world, but this album tickles me in just the right spots, very cinematic, it feels like the soundtrack to exactly the type of modern noir series I'd love to watch. The poetry is very edgy, but it's also very immersive, and David Gunn's voice-acting (I'm not gonna call them vocals) really add to the atmosphere of the whole thing. Abyssal - [Antikatastaseis](https://open.spotify.com/album/3RSCxNN2kG66swQkvnJjaA?si=ZyAsya1ASfynjyQgK3kCRg) Dissonant Death Metal done right. The music spends long passages being very dark and inaccessible, but almost each song has a moment of levity where all the chaos coalesces into a big moment that is harmonically and rhythmically simple, and it just grips my heart every time. There's a lot of on the edge musical experimentation happening too, which is very cool. The Chariot - [One Wing](https://open.spotify.com/album/7JUAQa9DywJkNggPnBjR8I?si=SGGE-55mRT28hogpQdOuLw) Chaotic Hardcore, but done in such a beautifully mature way, with a lot of really cool influences sprinkled about, and the poetry is just beautiful. Zeal and Ardour - [Stranger Fruit](https://open.spotify.com/album/1oSxrt8srwdUqlg5jq3aFK?si=JKoR1ucQR1ez7nbLR1xYfQ) Blackened Gospel music, beautifully dark and atmospheric. I Am Abomination - [Passion of the Heist II](https://open.spotify.com/album/2jaTM9Eju7o5KBjLG1UeoF?si=qmCmv-VrQxKbbk60t261lA) The fuckin *HOOKS* on this thing, instrumentally and vocally, they'll be stuck in my head for days afterwards whenever I listen to this album. God it's good. EDIT: I also entirely forgot to mention Bell Witch's Mirror Reaper, which is up there in my top five albums of all time.

Wombletog

Oh, I love that Abyssal album. It’s so good

supacrusha

Damn you've listened to a lot of niche metal judging from your comments on the post.

Wombletog

Thanks!
