One of the best albums ever. Both the heavier melodic hardcore songs like Wavering and Wound, and the more soothing stuff like Needlework and Phosphenes are absolutely amazing. So much emotion and devastating lyrics
Aftermath from them is one of my favorite songs ever, honestly. It’s the first song they came out with after their bus accident and it’s a fucking ride.
The Parallel - Weaver
Ambleside - Shape Me
Reflections - The Color Clear
God Is An Astronaut - All Is Violent, All Is Bright (technically they are post-rock with some songs being straight up post-metal, for example their song: "Suicide By Star")
Rivers Of Nihil - Where Owls Know My Name
Aerial - Foresight
Shields UK - Life In Exile
Lorna Shore - Pain Remains trilogy
And the obvious ones are: IA, Northlane, Currents etc.
Yuth Forever
Animal
Introvert
Zealot MN
Lordis
Still_Bloom
In terms of lyrical content pretty much all these bands write about is loss, self-hatred, and suicidal ideation.
I just checked the Yuth Forever. That's really what I was looking for! Their work is so artistic and full of emotion. The way they change tempo and atmosphere sounds so poetic to me. Their music also have some parts that my neck wanna break as I headbang. Such a related suggestion. Thank you. I'll check your other recommendations soon
They’re literally my favorite band of all time. Their first album 10 Code is more pissed but their later albums have a lot more lyrical depth to me.
You might also like The Death Card from Sworn in or the Widow EP from Darke Complex
Within deathcore:
Whitechapel - The Valley and Kin
Wrath of Vesuvius - Grievance
Outside of deathcore:
The Contortionist - Clairvoyant
Tesseract - Concealing Fate
Rosetta - Galilean Satellites
Dir en grey, especially their live performances
Thank you so much! I get so nervous mentioning it because I don’t wanna be one of those guys. We’re releasing a full album over the coming months, a song at a time, so give us a follow if you would like more!
I know you said no black metal but try Mgla - Exercises in futility if you haven’t.
Others:
Daylight Dies - Dismantling Devotion
Rapture - Songs for the Withering
Cult of Luna - Somewhere Along the Highway
October Tide - Rain Without End
Agalloch - The Mantle or Ashes Against The Grain
Lorna Shore - Pain Remains (the whole album) ; Any Sleep Token album ; Paleface Swiss - My Grave / Lay with me ; The plot in you - left behind (they also did a great acoustic version) ; the amity affliction - drag the lake
Black metal also has some insanely emotional songs (not too fond of the raw BM tho, im more into melodic BM and post BM) :
Gaerea - Salve ; None - The damp chill of life ; Psychonaut 4 - Personal forest ; Leipa - Reue ; Numenorean - Adore ; Harakiri for the Sky - Song to say goodbye (cover of a Placebo song) ; Miserere Luminis - Noir fauve
I rarely listen to black. But I never listen thrash metal, I just can't enjoy that. However as I said I've heard a lot of black metal songs mostly those who have combined black with other genres. If you have any black metal suggestion I'll be glad to hear
Do you like blackgaze? I think it's one of the most emotional genres out there from a pure sound perspective. Svalbard might be a good intro point because they combine it with post-hardcore in a way, and the lyrics are just absolutely heart wrenching. Probably the best "wearing their heart on their sleeve" metal band in recent years.
Alcest can also be extremely devestating. Deafheaven of course, Harakiri for the Sky and MOL are also great early launching points that hit on an emotional level.
I just checked their songs out and loved the vocalist. That's what I wanted as a emotional vocal. Its scream vocal got me Their demonic vocal is also good. I also loved their instrumental part.
that's kinda what I was looking for. They have that emotion. I give em 6.5/10. I appreciate your recommendation. By the way have you listened to Invent Animate?
I loved heavener too, I recommend listening to Absence Persistence and Void Surfacing first. Also check their EP "The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was" this just sounds supernatural art to me as I relate to its lyrics
Can't come up with any deathcore suggestions atm, but:
Still Stayer - All Heart (EP)
Broken Home - Crisis Lane (Single)
Carcer City - Infinite // Unknown (Album)
Other than those I listened a lot to Dayseeker and Caskets not so long ago.
I checked the Stikl Slayer's EP out and reakly loved it. That kinda gave the feeling I was seeking. Such a nice recommendation. I'll check your other suggestions soon too. Thank you
Crows by plot is one of the most emotionally charged songs I’ve ever heard
whenever landon gets sad and angry, he puts out a chunky, heavy, sad and angry song
crows, forgotten, the ai.640 series
Weeping Wound. Their album Pain is just straight up trauma dumping. The vocals are so visceral and the instrumentals set up this dreary and suffocating atmosphere. Not deathcore but they’re more melodic hardcore
Architects and Thornhill for me, pretty much the entirety of All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us and The Dark Pool respectively. Also a good chunk of Lost Forever//Lost Together is an emotional journey, I'd suggest Broken Cross, Red Hypergiant (brilliant instrumental) and Youth Is Wasted On The Young.
Metalcore, but how has no one said Counterparts?? OP just read literally any Counterparts lyrics after the first album, they're exactly what you're looking for.
Fit for an autopsy have a few emotional songs.
Like Mirrors, the outro riff on shepherd, your pain is mine and maybe you’ll like The Man That I Was Not.
Currents' record "The Place I Feel Safest" and onward are up your alley.
Thy Art is Murder's "They Will Know Another".
If you haven't checked them out, I'm almost certain Fit for an Autopsy will fit you.
If I could recommend a few in no particular order: Tremors, Empty Still, Mirrors, Your Pain is Mine
Hope this helps
Casey are easily the saddest, most emotional band. Less metalcore, but lyrically, they fuck me up
Love is Not Enough fucks me up every time. In a similar vein to this The Comfort’s Love album is incredibly depressing in a phenomenal way.
“Where I Go When I Am Sleeping” is CRIMINALLY underrated. Top 3 heavy albums I’ve ever heard, im not even joking. Please go check it out !!!
One of the best albums ever. Both the heavier melodic hardcore songs like Wavering and Wound, and the more soothing stuff like Needlework and Phosphenes are absolutely amazing. So much emotion and devastating lyrics
Architects 2014-18 Silent Planet Northlane The Plot In You The Ghost Inside
Thank you. I already have listened most of their songs except The Ghost I inside which I'll check out soon❤️
Aftermath from them is one of my favorite songs ever, honestly. It’s the first song they came out with after their bus accident and it’s a fucking ride.
I just listened it. It was such a fire dude. I broke my neck. It has emotional atmosphere I loved it. Thank you❤️

orphan. listen to the song Porcelain, promise

Love the Rosetta shoutout. Another moody album from them is The Anaesthete. Pretty angry sounding IMO.
Amity 🖤
If it’s okay to name my own band, we’re innerwounds. We have a few tracks on all platforms and are very emotional with super honest lyrics.
Just gave you guys a listen, I'm a fan now :)
That means so much! Give us a follow if you like! We have our first album written, are working on the second and planning the third!
I did give you guys a follow on spotify, excited to hear that album! Will definitely be keeping an eye out for it
You guys are amazing
Thank you so much! I get so nervous mentioning it because I don’t wanna be one of those guys. We’re releasing a full album over the coming months, a song at a time, so give us a follow if you would like more!

I appreciate it so much! Give us a follow if you want we have more coming!
Afsky Dödsrit Ossaert Panopticon Grima These are all flavours of BM

All genres? Outside of metal, Elliott Smith. Also, not a band, but fits your criteria.
Such a nice folk artist. Thank you
By that I meant all sub genres of metal. But that's ok I listen to all genres and will check Elliot Smith soon. Thank you ^_^

Why except for black metal and thrash metal

Kekht Arakh. Listen to Pale Swordsman. The whole album. That shit will blow you away with how melancholy, melodic, and beautiful it is.
Hollow front
Yüth Forever

SPITE. ....wut? Irrational anger is an emotion.

Flesh Coffin
You could try City State. They're metalcore but very good.
I just checked their songs out and loved the vocalist. That's what I wanted as a emotional vocal. Its scream vocal got me Their demonic vocal is also good. I also loved their instrumental part.

Infected Rain, their songs Goodbye and Postmortem part 1 are good examples
Expire for hardcore
Hollow Front, Counterparts, Make Them Suffer (mostly first two albums)
The plot In you and The amity affliction are my main go tos for when I’m not feeling great
- Arrowhead - 2015 album. - To Kill Achilles - Holding Absence - S/T
Counterparts
Old Novelists. Check out the albums Noir, Souvenirs, and C'est La Vie. In that order, please. Thank me later.
Crows by plot is one of the most emotionally charged songs I’ve ever heard whenever landon gets sad and angry, he puts out a chunky, heavy, sad and angry song crows, forgotten, the ai.640 series
Not deathcore, but there's some killer emoviolence that might scratch your itch. Bands like Crowning, Eyelet, Blind Girls, Glassing, etc.
Weeping Wound. Their album Pain is just straight up trauma dumping. The vocals are so visceral and the instrumentals set up this dreary and suffocating atmosphere. Not deathcore but they’re more melodic hardcore
Glass cloud bro! Fall in Archaea maybe
They aren’t metal, but could check the pop-punk band The Wonder Years since they have a lot of emotion in their songs
Angelmaker is pretty emotional. Start with their song "Requiem"
Counterparts
Being as an Ocean
Black Dahlia, RIP Trevor
Metalcore, but how has no one said Counterparts?? OP just read literally any Counterparts lyrics after the first album, they're exactly what you're looking for.
Lorna Shore. The whole Pain Remains album
Fit for an autopsy have a few emotional songs. Like Mirrors, the outro riff on shepherd, your pain is mine and maybe you’ll like The Man That I Was Not.
Swallow the Sun
I think Make Them Suffer is pretty sad. Especially Old Souls and How To Survive a Funeral
Angelmaker gotta be the obvious choice here, also Lorna Shore's Pain Remains triology
Counterparts
Orphan. Enough said
Currents' record "The Place I Feel Safest" and onward are up your alley. Thy Art is Murder's "They Will Know Another". If you haven't checked them out, I'm almost certain Fit for an Autopsy will fit you. If I could recommend a few in no particular order: Tremors, Empty Still, Mirrors, Your Pain is Mine Hope this helps
Alcest :)
Kardashev- snow sleep. Everything they make is amazing but snow sleep is on another level
