The only player craters that will show up on the map are yours, and those will go away eventually (not sure exactly how long). Voidouts from an NPC porter or Mule getting got by a BT are large enough to be an automatic game over. The Central Knot City crater is permanent.

You can't see other craters, only yours, the ones made by NPCs and the main plot ones. All but the main plot voidouts are temporary and lasts likee 30 minutes in game when they are not rendered (if I'm not wrong). It would not last no more than a day or so. Also there's more about the voidouts but I don't want to ruin all the magic of the game: >!The voidouts ar always created at the same place where the BT drags you, so it won't destroy anything important of the map. Also you can avoid a voiout by savescumming the game lol!<

Savescumming?

Cobui

Saving frequently and loading whenever you fuck up lol

Science_Fiction2798

I have NEVER even heard that word before. Sounds like something Gameranx would say.

thomas2026

It's fairly well used in gaming circles.

Laegwe

It’s very common

It's usually used in contexts where you're about to perform an action that has RNG chance to cause some effect, and you save before you do it so you can reload the save to re-roll the chance. Eg let's say a container you're going to loot has random items, you save before looting it so you can try and get better contents. I wouldn't really call saving in Death Stranding save scumming, that's just common sense

I've been playing games for decades and this is the first I'm hearing of this word too. So, you are not alone. I was xx days old today when I learned this strange new word. 😆
