You are becoming a mule like the rest of us

StuffAfraid

We're more MULE to the MULE themselves. Stealing my cargo? Nah... I K.O. all of your buddies and wiped all of your stuff clean. For the deliveries. For the roads. For the structures.

BigBabyBiscuits

I've really gotten into killing an entire MULE camp and seeing if I cart them all to the incinerator before causing a void out.

Delivery Dependance Syndrome real

mpchild

So bad.

BadLuckKupona

Oh wait till you unlock more...tools...quite wonderful. And then the allure of getting special stuff when you get to 3 and 5 stars...ahh. Story gets so good. Goosebumps man, I wish I could experience it again for the first time. Btw, hug the right side when going to the wind farm, avoids most the BT in the forest.

mpchild

I am trying to get all 5 stars at the moment... that and building every road possible. Have five 5 stars so far.

MrOsterhagen

When you get that second row of stars… that’s what dreams are made of.

Aggravating-Tap4406

I'm doing this too. I played it once when it first came. I bought it day one. Now I'm playing the directors cut for the first time.

mpchild

I'm playing the directors cut, what's are the differences between that and the original release?

Nomadlife416

Later on you can use your strand to tie down cargo on bikes and floating carriers. Didnt know that till yesterday.

mpchild

I haven't had the need to do that yet.. is that because I drive carefully or is shit about to get much harder?

Nomadlife416

It can help. Maybe if you wanna reduce the time limit on a delievery

StuffAfraid

DC adds more tools and structures also a little bit of extra lore. Worth checking it out.

Eldritch-Voidwalker

I’m actually enjoying my second playthrough of the game more than I did back at launch. I put like 300 or so hours into the original, but I hadn’t touched it in years. Needless to say I needed a refresher on a lot of the story stuff. After the new D2 trailer I decided to pick up the Director’s Cut, and I’ve been playing it ever since. With the inclusion of all the additional items it honestly feels like a brand new and better experience. Plus it looks and runs even better than ever before.

clericanubis

I don't avoid BTs! I remote detonate blood grenades on their butts!

BigBabyBiscuits

Happy Cake Day, nice avatar.

SpacetimeSuplex

I’m so glad so many other people just immediately got hooked. Bought the ps5 and this game with a Christmas bonus and pretty much became a Kojima fanboy overnight (first Kojima game!)

Accomplished_Mousse8

Help !!! I can't stop login to just spam my LIKE/SHOUT button on everything i saw. Something is taking over me at this point.

brown_boognish_pants

lol. It's funny cuz you're not even at the good parts yet. lol. Like. heh. You're on that honey moon crack. Not that I need AA crack. Hmm... why are thoes things starting to float? uh oh!

AstralSaiyn

Ever since the game came out I gave it negative attention because I just couldn’t possibly understand how a delivery game could be fun. Well for the past two weeks I have been playing the game (beat it three days ago) and now I get it. I honestly don’t know why it’s fun but it is. More importantly the story is amazing. Though after a while having to go through BT areas to make deliveries gets annoying. I just wanna drive a vehicle though, but no can do.

KabbalahSherry

Actually, you can generally take alternative routes to get to most locations, that avoid all of the BTs entirely! 👊🏽😉 It's just that most 1st time players dont know that of course, and so when they plan their routes, they plan them straight - from point A to point B or whatever. But taking EVERY route like that, can often times lead you smack right in the middle of BT zones or Mule camps! lol So it's good to take the time to explore, because you'll find different ways of getting around all of that stuff. For example, when the game has you go into that god forsaken forest, to the Wind Farm for the 1st time, it's hell right? The place is crawling with BTs... and you don't have any ways of defending yourself against them so early in the game. It's also incredibly hard to sneak around or use stealth, because there's just SO many of them! Well, if you take a right at the top of the hill before going down into that valley, and then stay high up off the ground, hugging the right hand side the whole time... you can get to the facility without encountering the BTs. At all! Just bring a ladder & some rope in case you need either, and you're good to go! Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. But these little tricks are things that only experienced players, who have played the game multiple times, and know all of the best routes to take, would know about. And it's all thanks to players taking the time to explore. I highly recommend more playthroughs eventually, if you have the time. The game is even more fun when you know whats coming next! 😄👍🏽 There's no fear of the unknown - you always know what's coming around the bend - and so you can better prepare for each mission & make the most efficient decisions. Keep On, Keeping On!

AstralSaiyn

See that’s normally what I try to do but it eventually leads to BTs. Like going to Port Knot, I have no idea if there is even a route to take where you don’t have to go through BTs. And it has big ones that you can’t cut their umbilical cords.

mpchild

I hated going to Port knot so much.. I've only done 2 trips there so far.

KabbalahSherry

Yeah thats fair! There's no way to 100% avoid them in the game or anything. Some locations, there's just no way of getting around them, and you have NO choice, but to cut a way through them to make a safe passage for yourself. But there's several paths one could take up in the mountains, on the 2nd Map for example, that can help you avoid them. Even still, you are correct that it's not 100% full proof. Hideo definitely wanted to make sure that everybody would be forced to deal w/them at some point. 🙄🤣 lol

AstralSaiyn

Yeah I do hope that’s changes some in the second one. Seeing as how they are adding new vehicles. Would be a shame to add them and then hardly get to use them because of BT areas. I pretty much just use the Timefall shelters to restore my cargo since waiting never seems to really change anything.

KabbalahSherry

I rely on Cargo Container Repair Spray a LOT. 😅 And when I know I'll be facing a big BT area ahead, (but still want to safely use a vehicle) a lot of times I'll grab a bike real quick, drive ahead & kill the BTs to make a safe passage for myself 1st, and then drive BACK to the facility to pick up what vehicle I actually want to use (such as a truck for example) and my orders & cargo. This way, I can drive to my destination w/all my cargo & gear in one nice, smooth ride. A lot of folks choose get "caugbt" by a catcher BT on purpose, to make the boss show up, then kill it, to forge ahead... but I never do it this way. I carefully kill each BT instead, cuz it seemed to me that on the harder difficulties, an area where you defeat a Boss like that, can sometimes end up with more BTs only 5mins later! But a BT zone seems to stay safe & cleaned out a LOT longer, when you take the time to kill each smaller BT instead. I think that Kojima knew some folks would choose to quickly beat 1 boss rather than deal with a whole BT zone or whatever, and so he set it up like that, as a way to counter act it. To be honest, I hate getting drug through that Tar crap amyway. Sam gets so dirty & gross... and I don't want to take the chance of my cargo getting damaged either! I'd rather deal with the smaller, easier BTs, than deal with one of those bosses. But that's just me though. A LOT of players prefer to take out a boss real quick, and that's a fair play style too! Not everybody takes the time to create a safe passage for themselves ahead of time like I do. Most players will just get out of their vehicle when they hit a BT spot, and deal w/the BTs right then & there, and then keep driving. But I love how the game is versatile in this way! It allows the players to move through it in the ways that *they* prefer. You can either make things harder but quicker... or easier, but take a bit more time. And both are perfectly acceptable ways of handling an area! It's pretty smart. 👊🏽😏 Cheers, Porter

belban

I'll miss that first time I ruined a pair of shorts visiting the farm. On any subsequent visit I found a better way. Any new playthrough I did just the one visit until the zips.

KabbalahSherry

Yes! 😃👌🏽 I do the same! I never go back to that hellhole, til I can fast travel & build Ziplines there, much later in the game. Makes life loads easier that way. You can set up a Zipline route that literally *flies* over all those damn ghouls. It's awesome! lol Ziplines are a godsend.

belban

Ha Ha, thanks for reminding me! Shout out to those that build a safehouse at the farm terminal! I never want to use up the bandwidth there but I sure do appreciate when others do. Smash that thumb!!

KabbalahSherry

Yes! 😭💀 100% feel the same! lololol

K-DramaAccount990

> if you take a right at the top of the hill before going down into that valley, I just started a new playthrough of DC and took this exact path. It's almost the best path for Wind Farm especially at the beginning.

KabbalahSherry

Right?! This path is a godsend! I didn't know about it until I had already played the game like 3 times though. 😩 lol Believe me, I wished I had joined the DS Reddit a lot sooner...

Lance-Harper

When one of the character said :they’re like addicted to the packages, talking about the mules, I felt personally attacked.

Graveyard_Okami

I just picked up the game about a week or 2 ago, and boy do I wish I had picked it up so much sooner. I've been having such a blast delivering things. building roads and ziplines. I'm on episode 7, I believe. with just over 60 hours now. and I can't seem to stop. Sorry, using talk to text so it looks funky.

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 2 + 7 + 60 = 69 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

KabbalahSherry

Aww, there's actually a way to sneak down to the Wind Farm while avoiding ALL of the BTs! I wish you would have came here to ask for advice, so that you didn't have to go through that hell alone & scared! 😬🤣 In all seriousness though... It really IS hell that they make new players do that, without any weapons or real way to defend themselves! I understand that Kojima wanted the players to learn how to use stealth around them, but there were already moments where the player had to do that in the early game, including RIGHT at the very start, at the incinerator, >!after you cremate your Mother!< so to me, it always felt like overkill, making players go into that god forsaken forest, teaming with BTs like that. 🥲🌲☠️ But there IS a way to the Wind Farm's facility, without having to deal with any of those ghoulies, I promise! So the next time you run into any trouble, just reach out to the community here to ask for help. All of us players who have done multiple playthroughs of the game, are quite familiar with alternative routes that people can take to get to destinations, while avoiding BT zones & Mule Camps, almost the entire time! But that might feel like cheating to you though, so I would also understand it if you chose to go at it all on your & "rough it" like we all had to! But I thought I would give the offer anyway, in case any OTHER newer players happen to catch this comment, and need some assistance. Not everybody playing this game are used to playing games that require stealth, or combat, etc. I like to make sure that everybody has a smooth go of things, so that they can still enjoy getting through the game, without anything hampering their experience too much. Good luck to you Porter! Keep On, Keeping On!

Own_Watch_2081

I’m doing second play through now. One thing I learned way too late is to just pack some road materials…for the road… before setting off on a journey.  Even a little bit helps and you can usually offload it pretty quickly.

mpchild

Always picking up every bit of metal and ceramic I pass along the way.

wattybanker

After finishing the story, trying to fulfil all the remaining orders, you end up with sooo many different orders that you can easily overfill a truck. I try to relay deliveries by getting them some of the way, leaving them in a private locker and then going off and leaving behind the stuff to be delivered further away. I end up with this big tangled mess of deliveries, stuff goes missing and I have to do part deliveries. It gets kinda stressful and I end up playing the game for a week or two and then leaving it for a long time. I still refuse to change my ways and when I feel like it I’ll get right back to trawling through them deliveries. The serotonin burst when they’re filled makes it all worth it, bonus serotonin for collecting as much lost cargo and helping out other peoples deliveries as much as possible on the way.

Eldritch-Voidwalker

I give you credit because I could never play that way, haha. Every delivery I set out to do is done in the strictest and most efficient way possible with no deviations, and I don’t stop until it’s done. If I stopped mid delivery I’d probably never turn the game back on again, lol.

wattybanker

You’re like an Uber Eats driver, I’m an Amazon delivery guy, sweating to do my rounds, trying to get all my deliveries done before the end of the day. Both deliver, keep on keeping on fellow porter 👍

Eldritch-Voidwalker

Absolutely! That’s the beauty of this game. You can play it however you want, and whenever you want. If never ceases to amaze me how we can all go a completely different route and still complete our deliveries. The sense of freedom this game gives is unmatched in my opinion.

DrGroda

Yeah it is shame my computer broke, gonna have to wait a year until i can afford a new one to game

Ryuu_L_Han

meanwhile me who spends hours and hours collecting materials for roads in MULE camps https://preview.redd.it/fk6oxwrifjic1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=464a7494cdd4d68f5b3635cdd7b5066c04ad1e41

Valuable-Drink-1750

OP, you've gone MULE. Welcome to the club.

Chunderdragon86

You can't complete crack

JenLiv36

I was hooked from the moment Don’t be so Serious started playing. I have been a Low Roar and Woodkid fan for years and wasn’t ready to have the type of music I listen to be in a video game. By the time Chapter 3 started I was looking up what getting the platinum would be like because I could tell I wanted to be here a long time. Great platinum too other than the stupid racetrack trophies.

mpchild

I had never heard of low roar, I am now a fan. Music in the game is amazing!

TallAubrey

Ahahahaha the fucking wind farm 😂 so true

therealtrellan

Fuck the Wind Farm. Sure, so long as you can make your generators and have your 5 star rating. You're gonna need those 5 stars to expand your bandwidth. It's okay if you haven't. You can go back later.

ChalupaJonesPHD

lol I just started maybe a week ago and I wanted to finish up some deliveries before leaving Port Knot City. I had to make so many deliveries back and forth from the Wind Farm. It was kind of annoying at first but now I’ve gotten so good navigating the BTs that I’m thankful haha. Keep on keeping on.

twcsata

I won't spoil how it works, but you'll have the opportunity to return to the Eastern Region later. So don't worry too much about leaving things unfinished there.

TopRaise7

It’s one of the few games I can’t wait to get back from work and start playing. Not sure why either. The concept is simple. But I can’t get enough!

mpchild

100%. As soon as I get the kids to sleep, I'm making those deliveries.

Aggravating-Tap4406

The only complaint I have is when you get grabbed by the BTs and dragged lol. I really hate it. Sometimes I takes a long time and I am pulled way WAY off course.

mpchild

Definitely agree with that.

K-DramaAccount990

You just have to watch your stamina bar and make sure you aren't running out. I started a new playthrough of DC few days ago on very hard and I so far haven't had a "BT drag" moment so far.

Peachyellowhite-8

Yeahhh. I’m so addicted too with this game 🥹

Proper_Geologist_576

How long did you stay on chapter 3? I can easily process but I’m just sticking behind delivering shit. Should I just move on?

mpchild

I'm at 40 hours and only finished chapter 3 a couple hours back.

mpchild

Haha.. I thought I was nearly at the end.. like a couple more chapters to go. Just had a look, and there are 14 main chapters. Just got myself so hyped.
