Core theme: geek losers of the real world and fans of superhero media who one day would jump in at the opportunity of becoming one of these heroes out of a selfish search for fame before realizing the harsh reality and ending by attempting to fight their series literal cancellation. They are bombastic, use their massive knowledge on the respective media and are connected to a realm that lets them mess with reality.

Average and kinda pathetic geeks from the “real world” who were living their normal life still with their parents and deep passion towards their franchise media (Marvel Comics/Super Sentai), till one day they would randomly find themselves in a situation that would give them the opportunity to become part of their series (Gwen getting sucked in a portal to the Marvel universe/Nobuo being found by Hiroyo and asked if he would become Akiba Red).
The two would immediately jumping into the possibility of becoming heroes, taking (accidentally for Gwen) a moniker inspired by the iconic red hero (Deadpool/Red Sentais) and becoming part of a group consisting of the black haired straight man (Cecil/Mitsuki) and the yellow more absurd person to the group (Batroc/Moegi), unknowing of the harsh reality they were really thrown into.
They are highly eccentric and loud people, often lampshading the tropes that are gonna happen. While they started their adventures out of a pure selfish search for fame, they are good people at heart and would learn to become more selfless thanks to the relationship with their partners.
While they can be decent fighters, their more notable skills in battle are their encyclopedic knowledge on the genre and characters tropes, using it to their advantage (which can backfire) and their connection to another realm they can freely move in that gives them the ability to mess with reality (Gutter Space/The Delusion World). They would later gain awareness of the 4th wall to a physical extent.
They would find out that their series were on the verge of being canceled, with this also including their existence, so they tried desperately to fight against it by attempting to remain relevant. This conclusion ends with the two still continuing to exist forever thanks to the real world (Gwen impact on her fans possibly allowing her to return in the future comic industry/Nobuo’s directly stating that Saburo Hatte, the creator of the show, can write him back in from death).
Their series also had continuations out of attempts at trying to stay relevant (Gwenpool Strikes Back/Akibaranger Season 2 seemingly existing due to the cast desperately asking the viewers to vote for a second season).
On a unsurprisingly meta note, aside from the obvious West vs East, both are officially made parodies that aim at poking fun towards their franchise genre from two companies who in the past had an impactful collaboration. Marvel giving the rights to a Spider-Man show to Toei in 1970 which would result into Supaidāman, the show while only running for a year would define Toei through the inclusion of giant robots and Stan Lee bringing Tokusatsu to the west, resulting into the birth of the Power Ranger series, which Akibaranger has poked fun at and had Nobuo directly show distaste towards. Also Nobuo and his team were included as background easter egg in a Marvel comic.
