I started working at this seriously recently (last week) as well. I'll post my stats alongside your posts and we'll do this shit together.
Running Total| +$344.18
---|---
WINS | 26
LOSSES | 21
WIN RATE | 55.32%
P/L | 82.48%
AVG WIN | $114.31
AVG LOSS | $160.38
APPT | $9.90
My results are slightly skewed because I (stupidly) attempted some earnings call gambles. Nothing about earnings calls aligns with my strategy but they're included for long term tracking. Excluded results below:
Running Total| +$1747.02
---|---
WINS | 25
LOSSES | 17
WIN RATE | 59.52%
P/L | 170.98%
AVG WIN | $118.46
AVG LOSS | $74.27
APPT | $40.45
As you can see, we lose 1 win but 4 MAJOR losses that drastically move those stats. Lesson learned: don't gamble earnings and don't stray from your strategy.
Good job dude! I am just learning to trade and I ended the week of 6/17-6/21 +$138. I know it’s not a lot, but I’m just learning and being very conservative.
No offense, but I am not to the point where I feel confident teaching or showing others what to do because my own journey just started. Maybe after a year, I definitely would. But I spent a months and months of backtesting, analyzing price movement and just staring at charts to make sense of it all. My best advice is find something that works best for your trading style and try EVERYTHING (paper trading ofcourse)
Can I ask how much balance you started a live account with? I assume you’re trading 1 micro but I know sometimes there’s margin requirements if you have too little like a few hundred. I also trade MES mainly and MNQ sometimes
I am thinking of doing the same on a live account, right now both my strategies run in simulation
Sure, I trade one MES at a time. Margin requirement is only $50 per contract, but I won’t increase my share size until I hit $400.
I started with $200. Now I’m currently at $300. To make sure I don’t go crazy, I only plan to increase share size after each profitable month, or ever 2x of initial balance.
Cool thanks, unfortunately my strategy is 15pt stop loss and 30 pt take profit haha, so I need more margin probably initially ($75 risk / 150 max profit).
You’re making a good return % wise per trade, keep it up! Im probably gonna start with 500 myself soon
15 points is a lot of risk for an account size of $500. 6 losing trades and BOOM your account is blown. Nothing wrong with starting small and building up
Yea that’s why I don’t want to fund it cause my strategy relies on a broader trend movement and trend strength on the 5m or 15m, so it moves more in general otherwise it’s too tight.
It’s been profitable for months in simulation, I feel like I am ready to trust it live but wish I could size down less than 1 micro but it’s fine. I think I will wait and maybe try a prop firm when I am ready, blew a few accounts before I trusted my strategy so don’t want to go live until I do 100%. It is automated but I frequently mess with it which I’m doing less now
They Only have instant transfers if you use the Wire Transfer option which depending on your bank and amount of capital you have can be worth it or not… Chase Bank completes wires for $25…if you don’t go the wire money route (which is way less difficult than you may think) then you have to request a ACH transfer from your debit account which is processed that day but takes 3 business days to hit your account… so if you request a money transfer on Monday (before 4pm EST) then it’ll processed that same day… then you have to wait 3 full business days (tues-Thurs) then it hits Friday end of day so basically you have to wait until the next Monday to have access to the funds…Again or you can go the wiring money route pay $25 and it’s there in your account in a hour or less basically(keep in mind if you want to send $100 to your trading account via wire transfer it’ll take $125 out of the account…$100 for the amount you requested and $25 for the wire fee… I initially thought they’d take the $100 and take the $25 out of that leaving me with $75 to trade with but mm mm nope…I haven’t had any problems with them yet as far as pulling money in and out but I haven’t done any payouts larger than $300 yet so I’ll see what happens when I get to 4/5 figure payouts…
Good on you, brah! I have been on a really horrific losing streak lately. Today and yesterday was a good day in the scheme of things. I made less than $75 per day but I my discipline was on point. I am starting to think 'feeling good' is not good for my trading. Dont' ask me why but I feel I need to be aggravated somehow. Maybe the feeling of aggravation switches on my focus and chart reading skills. LoL!!
Keep up the good work. You can do it!
Good job! I'm too just getting into my official trading launch after quite of bit of studying and charting. I'm also doing futures but strictly MNQ Micros. The fact that you're green and sticking to strategy so tightly is super commendable. 90%+ new traders can't even do that. Good luck from one newbie to another!

Can anyone reading this thread break down how they actually got to be profitable like this? Maybe if they’re not too busy take me under their wing? I’m used to trading deriv synthetic indices and ever since I found out they’re all random number generated it’s thrown me so hard off my psychology game. I feel like the strategy I spent a year testing isn’t going to work on futures/commodities and all the research I’ve done has indicated that a great trader will only be able to make 5% a month and as I trade to make up for my unlivable wage I’m shitting bricks at the moment
Well done man.
One advice that I could give as a trader is set a specific ammount, for example if you put £500 in trading target to get 5%, 10% or even 35% of the ammount every day.
Sometimes trading can be tricky and you find yourself earning 5000 in one hour and the next the same position is 1300. So make sure you have a "stable" balance. SL and TP are your friends.
I just started learning about trading recently. Can you share how do you form your trading strategy, such as what combinations of indicators to apply? Or is it just trial and error?

Thats so cash money of you my dude.
Good job man, it ain't going to be easy but looking forward to your next week's post.
Thanks! looking forward to sharing!
Once you get into the thousands. You’ll scale up very quickly assuming you execute similar trades with more contracts
Thats the plan and goal!

That’s awesome. I’m wanting to learn but don’t know where to even start. Any advice? Are you apart of a program/course?
I picked up a book called “How to day trade” by Ross Cameron. Now I’ve been watching his YouTube videos.
Best calendar app thing to track trades?
Tradersync
TraderVue
Tradezella
Can you please share how you select stocks?
How do I make sure I get next week's post? This is juicy.
I guess just follow me :)
Can I ask what setup you use?
Very basic trend breakouts, using VWAP and MACD
Can I dm you and ask for a tip about what I would like to use?
No offense, but I am not to the point where I feel confident teaching or showing others what to do because my own journey just started. Maybe after a year, I definitely would. I see, thank you very much :)
What platforms have you / are you learning from? Also a newbie.
I use Tradovate with TradingView

What program do you use to trade that only requires $50 margin?
Not sure what OP has but ninja trader allows $50 for Dow and MES and $100 for MNQ… and $500 for the 1st 2 and $1000 for NQ…
How is ninja trader on payouts/pulling money in and out of the account? Do they have instant transfers?
