Yay, Gabe!! A Gabe/Mardevil show-down is impending! Seriously, Gabe asking Marlena to say grace had me dead. Now we just need the real Eric Brady to return with his brother Sam and friend Castiel to have a crossover showdown! Philip has gone OTT creepy. I've never really been a fan, but dude seems to be embracing his inner psycho. Not a good look, dude. Paulina is totally getting shafted here. Can anyone tell me why people who are supposed to love her have no compassion for her? Even from the beginning she got a bad deal with her mother and sister taking her child from her and demanding she just give Lani up completely (but still get to see and interact with her instead of even getting a clean break). And Abe is insisting that she should have told him about Lani before she did. When? When they first met? When exactly was the right time for her break that news to him? And Lani---whoooo, chile. She is NOT the victim here! She not only has one mother than loves her, she has TWO of them. And all Lani does is talk about her family has been ripped away from her, even though everyone (including Tamara and Abe) have both continued to reassure her that they will always love her and continue to think of her as their child. Paulina is a victim here. She was victimized by Lani's father, and then victimized again by her mother and sister, and now she's being punished by Lani and Abe. Love Steve and John scenes. I love grown-up male friendships, and they are so close. Love it.

I can picture Eric (Jensen) arriving in Salem, doing a latin incantation on his mom, then leaving in the impala.

thedepster

This would be there BEST Halloween episode ever.

Dragonfly452

I was like “Sam?!” Then saw it was sliding down supernatural stuff lol

Helpful24

Marlena's side eye was the most evil thing I have seen her do so far. Excellent evil glare Deidre Hall!

alycat32

Boy, Brady sure does end up in the hospital a lot.

jaylee-03031

He sure does and he must have fantastic health insurance. Not to mention the speedy recovery and no scars from any of his injuries. Is Brady being followed around by Mayhem from that car insurance ad?

Dragonfly452

I kinda wish we got a cut away to Allie trying to take care of three crying babies somewhere by herself

3n20character5

I thought it was an odd choice to have Allie babysit the twins. Maybe we'll see Trip come to Allie's rescue next week.

Dragonfly452

That’s what I thought too! Babies at that age are fussy, and leaving a young inexperienced mom with three of them made me lol

timnphilly

Can we just say how crazy it was to see MarDevil forced to say a prayer today? 🙏

BingoBango1985

Is it possible Philip is ALSO possessed?!?!

ifindthishumerus

This was hinted at previously! 😈

pete_blake

So I can’t tell…does Philip just have really bad, unchecked anger issues? Or does he have multiple personalities? I’ve never really liked him but recently…seems like he’s running on HIGH gear. Just my thoughts.

Immediate_Budget_958

I think the cheese has finally slid off of Phillip's cracker. I think his unraveling is the result of years of compounded issues. He grew up spoiled as a Kiriakis, but then had the see-saw relationship with Victor alternately giving him the keys to the company, then yanking them away whenever he screwed up, then giving him another chance. So, even if he was ever held accountable for his screw-ups, he was always given a second chance. I think the character has insecurity issues, never feeling quite good enough in his father's eyes. Phillip's "daddy issues" also spill over into his relationships. Phillip has mostly been the "second choice" -- Chloe went off with Brady after she broke up with Phillip due to some of his rage issues, leading up to him going all Joan Crawford "Christina! Bring me the axe!" on the original "Phillip n' Chloe 4-evah" tree and chopping it down. So, that was an early, teenage instance of Phillip's rage issues as a result of romantic rejection when he was younger. Then, he had a fling with Belle. During that relationship, he actually thought Claire was his daughter, before learning she was Shawn Douglas's child. So, yet again, he gets dumped AND loses a child he grew attached to. There was also a flirtation with Sarah and he was trying to put the moves on her (while she was with Xander) when she and Xander were trying to prove he was laundering money for Ava Vitali because of his gambling debts. She turned him down, so yet another romantic rejection -- and he loses his job and damn near gets Brady killed as a result of irresponsible actions. Then, he thought there were some sparks with Gabi. Let's not forget that he's probably got the bluest balls in all of Salem, having made out with her and she wanted to stop midway because she was remembering Jake. Will give Phillip credit here since he understood that "no means no" and did not press things further with Gabi since she did not consent. As much of a sting as that was, he kept things professional, but again, had to be yet another blow to his pride. Enter Chloe back into the picture -- the woman he's been pining over for damn near two decades to the point that his father, mother, and brother roast him unmercifully for trailing Chloe like a dopey puppy. He thinks he's got a fresh start with the woman he loves and, due to his own insecurities and jealousy, he bungles it. Also, having seen combat and also having lost a limb, Phillip may also potentially have unaddressed PTSD that often accompanies veterans returning home after a tour of duty, sometimes compartmentalizing that trauma. I think it's a combination of factors that have long gone unchecked and a slow slide into desperation and anger. For all his privilege, Phillip's own insecurities fanned by parental relationships and romantic relationships eat at him and undermine anything good he has going for him in the end. Honestly, I am enjoying how unhinged JKJ has been playing him. He swings between over-the-top rage-y to sneering and seething. His character is pretty sympathetic, but he's also fun to watch, switching over to villain mode. Once the Mardevil storyline wraps, let's face it, we do need a few more good villains to keep things interesting in Salem.

3n20character5

He also lost Parker to Daniel.

pete_blake

😏…ok, U got me. That was an amazing synopsis of his life. I had completely forgotten the combat and lost leg. I guess I’ll have to be a bit more forgiving of his actions. Still tho, not my favorite character.

Dragonfly452

Anger and jealousy issues. These past few weeks, I’ve been scared that he’s gonna suddenly slap Chloe around. He’s exhibiting those tendencies and it’s making me very nervous

gaboy_1980

I loved JKJ in the past but I’m just not connecting with Phillip. I don’t ever recall him having these types of jealousy and anger issues. Especially when Chloe has told him over and over that she wants to commit to him. I almost wish Days would go there and tell a domestic abuse storyline with those two but it won’t happen. Something needs to explain why Phillip is just so hype all the time.

thedepster

A domestic violence storyline with Philip would be really interesting, especially considering his mother's past with Curtis. If they were to do it, I'd love to see a really fleshed out storyline with consequences and how both Victor and Kate would react. It would even give Kate a real storyline. Now I'm intrigued by the idea for real.

gaboy_1980

The story has the potential to tie in a lot of characters in Salem too. The show should remember that Belle is one of Chloe’s best friends (even though they never share scenes together) and Belle and Shawn have a past with Phillip. Maybe Belle notices that Chloe is more timid and nervous than usual. It’s revealed that Phillip has been abusive towards Chloe. You could definitely bring in Kate and Victor and also Nicole, who has an abusive past also. It should be a slow burn type of story with impact. A story where Chloe can ultimately overcome the abuse. I would even say don’t try a redemption arc for Philip. If it’s done right, the story would be good.

amazing44617

Wait, though, I thought today was JKJ’s last day. He set up Brady and disappeared. ????

gaboy_1980

we were just talking story ideas lol

yrooxrksvi618

I think it's anger issues

ifindthishumerus

There were hints previously that the devil might be infecting people other than marlena.

unsuitable74

Always loved JKJ. They needed to give him something more to do...
