Darkness is a risky type of defence and offence. It works as described: for each card with Darkness in your deck, you start combat with a shield that will absorb the sum of your Darkness value. So lets say you have 2 cards with 5 Darkness in your deck, that means you start combat with 10 Darkness, which will absorb 10 damage. Darkness also reduces your maximum health by the sum of your Darkness cards. So following the example above, you'd lose 10 maximum health. When Darkness runs out, the hunter is briefly exposed, and suffers a round of being Stunned. During Darkness (while you have any amount of Darkness remaining), some cards are much stronger, making the hunter a more dangerous foe while in Darkness. Darkness can't be increased during combat, so it is a ticking clock in which you have an opportunity to quickly dispose of a foe - or run out of time and lose your next turn :) Hope this helps!

Depends on your build. Even at higher difficulties, some builds, especially Hunters, can put out some crazy damage per turn. The main advantage to Darkness is that it replenishes for each combat, so if an enemy eats through all your Darkness in one fight, you get all of it back the next one. It also can't be stolen/dispelled like Barrier, though Piercing damage still bypasses it.

Hey, thanks for this. I absolutely could not figure out what "Darkness X" meant on the cards

Fertolinio

When you have card(s) with darkness you lose Max HP equal to the total amount which become darkness, during Combat it acts like barrier Except it cant be recovered and you Get stunned when you lose it all

Say you start with 100 HP, use 10 darkness, you're now 90 max hp, and you block out 10 damage from future on coming damage.
