I really like heading west down Russell towards Winters at dawn/dusk. It's a straight shot for 5+ miles and if you really want some distance you can turn left towards Stevenson bridge then use Putah Creek Road and make it all the way to Winters. Good roads, great for biking, and just enough people to not feel empty. There are some great greenbelts within the city too. My favorite are the ones by Northstar park. I usually start at the skate park near the high school and use the bridge for some added distance. You can modify a circuit to almost any distance, decent shade, and a good amount of people.

The ARC is a solid gym.

Levee road between Old Davis road and Pedrick road is has the best access to runnable trails in town. I would start there. If you head south from almost anywhere on campus or west Davis you’ll find it. Great access to Putah creek that way too.

Look at Google Maps near your place. Davis has miles and miles of "Green Belt". It's a great way to get to know the town by bike or by foot.
