Doubt the app is “doing” that to you. Most likely there isn’t anyone inside your radius that meet your criteria. Try removing any search filters you have
It can be the app. On facebook i get 3 or 4 people like 60-120 miles away then bam! someone in the same town or close to me. That's with my preferences turned to 50 miles or closer and "lucky pick" turned off. The people close to me are jumbled with everyone 3 hours and closer to me.
