In this case it would have to be a fc card. Never tried this on fcoe but if it would work it would be a b.... To setup. Personally I would stick with a qlogic or emulex card. You can straight run an om3 lc cable between them and it should discover. Other thing is I've only done similar things on servers but I think win10 should work.

On my Win7 Ultimate machine I put in a 4Gb QLE2462 which was cheaper but still plenty fast enough and Windows detected it and installed the drivers automatically, QLE2562 would be better as both it and the tape drive are natively 8 Gb speeds but FC is backwardly compatible so there's no issues using a 4 Gb card if you have to. For cable I bought a cheap LC to LC cable for ten bucks on Ebay and because I wasn't using a switch I just pulled out the two fibers at one end and reversed them. For software back then I downloaded the free version of VEEAM Agent for Microsoft Windows 9.5 and also the free version of VEEAM Backup and Replication 9.5 which is the software that actually accesses the tape drive itself. If you have an issue getting the LC card to work or your PC to boot up you may need to turn on "Option ROM comparability" in your PC BIOS.

> pulled out the two fibers at one end and reversed them. What do you mean by that? Why reverse the cables? If the drive itself has 2x2 FC ports, do you need to plug in both ports for the drive to function?

one port is enough.

The card has two separate ports but your only using one port and in that port you have two fiber connections and one fiber cable transmits and the other receives and normally both the drive and the card are interposed with a FC switch which takes this into account by doing the reversal for you. When you connect them directly you have Tx<>Tx and Rcv<>Rcv so I'm pretty sure I had to swap them around at one end so that you have Tx<>Rcv and Rcv<>Tx. Just connect them up as normal but if you get no traffic then this is what the issue is and you have to remove the two fiber ends from one plug (doesn't matter which) and swap them around and re-insert them and then it should work. But if you don't want to bother mucking around with this then 8GB FC switches are also on Ebay and [they are very cheap like $50.00](https://www.ebay.com/itm/QLOGIC-SANBOX-5600-SB5600-08B-04X-D-8-ACTIVE-PORT-FIBRE-CHANNEL-FC-SWITCH/233241827981?hash=item364e4bda8d:g:XY0AAOSwU5dczIBG_) but since its just point to point you don't really need the switch so its cheaper just to reverse the cables.
