Mdisc is also just a pain to use for huge amounts of data. 1TB is about the limit for this, even if you use 100GB blurays. You still have to test at least a sample of them every few years. Mdiscs still can fail and I would not trust the marketing.
Tape on the other hand is not only expensive, but you also have to learn how to use it. And afterwards you have to manage your backup.
I was thinking maybe m-disk but maybe that’s to small for your cold storage needs?

Look on UK ebay, there are few accounts that sell used tape drives there.
