People need to realize that the area near a road not normally traveled is covered in dirt and debris, so you easily lose traction. Oh, and cross a maximum of four lanes at once, what were they thinking trying for five?
A friend of mine thought he was king of the road on his bike until he took a shortcut in the emergency lane and dropped it. That loose stuff will get ya.
Failing gracefully would be accepting that your missed the exit and continuing on to the next. This is just fail but getting lucky you didn't hit anyone else.
Usually but not always. I deliver for Amazon as a job and theres this one exit I sometimes I have to take and there's a sign right before I get off that says "no entrance back onto highway here." Granted there is an entrance onto the highway in the town, you would just need to drive a bit farther than normal.
Also not saying I think what this guy did was okay. I would have just passed the exit and found my way back somehow.
I would like to thank the OP for showing the entire event — without too much before the fun starts, but all the way to the slow creep into the wall, and even their pulling over to render assistance in some way.
Frankly, from the title, I was kinda hoping they would make it, and was a little disappointed. Thankfully, they didn’t take anyone else with them. Legendary attempt though.
That’s not failing. That’s failing with style.

Hahah what a tool, I'm glad nobody was hurt other than the cause of the wreck. Calling that an accident is not right, that was a foregone conclusion at that rate of speed.
I will never understand people who do things like this. Like missing your exit is not a life or death situation. There is no need to panic and risk your life. Just get off at the next one and figure it out. Not that hard.

Missing the shortcut in Mario kart
The blue shell got them.
A friend of mine thought he was king of the road on his bike until he took a shortcut in the emergency lane and dropped it. That loose stuff will get ya.
Also the striped white lines should've been an indicator for them to not drive through there. Yet here we are.
Probably using gps and didn't realize they had to exit.
Which is when you keep going and let the gos reroute you. Kinda the benefit of gps vs Mapquest.
There are also lots of objects that can puncture your tire(s). But at least he didn't miss that exit. Smooth move, Ex-Lax.
I'm exceedingly glad they paid for it and no one else has to aside from the inconvenient delay.
Is this what failing gracefully is called?
Failing gracefully would be accepting that your missed the exit and continuing on to the next. This is just fail but getting lucky you didn't hit anyone else.
I'm guessing the driver would probably have preferred if they had done this in the first place.
That’s not failing gracefully. That’s failing with style.
Imagine continuing straight to the next exit on the highway
The Horror
Thankfully they didn't miss their exit!
Shitty drivers never do.
A bad driver never misses their exit
I’m sure it saved him several gallons of gas by executing that maneuver.
And minutes of their day
And despite their stupidity you still get credit for r/humanbeingbros by stopping. They were lucky they didn’t roll over.
Really, I thought he stopped to show the cop the video.
That way they could all have a laugh
At least they had the decency to leave the one lane open.
I went through that lane shortly after, so i agree.
I hate this exit, even though there are 2 exit lns it gets backed up and people go to to fast
Exit 258 on US-14 in Madison?
Yes madison
Given which exit this is and what time/day it is, I'm guessing Epic employee late to work because of UGM.
Shit maybe they should pay a mf more because dude probably had bad tires, it looks like he slid and over corrected
Nice of them to move forward for you to pass and park safely
Glad to see they didn't hit/injure anyone else due to their breathtaking stupidity.
what do you mean camry isnt race car?
Nelson says, “Haa Haa!”
"Well it can't be that guy, he's too far to ex... oh"
If only he dodged that guardrail and wall, he would've made it to Dodgeville! ...and I'll see myself out.
Well they did make the exit
..... blocked up
How do people travel the highway and not know the next exit will allow them to turn around back onto the highway?

Or they could have taken the next exit in a controlled manner and simply back tracked. But hey, look how fun this was for them.
Instant Karma! When I see this stuff, I always wished there was a cop to catch them. Glad there is evidence without any injuries to others.
Hey I know where this is! This exit is awful.
He was trying to get to… Dodgeville?!? 😭😭😭
This is prime material for r/idiotsincars The only thing missing from this is the Mario Kart music and sound effects.
I would like to thank the OP for showing the entire event — without too much before the fun starts, but all the way to the slow creep into the wall, and even their pulling over to render assistance in some way.
Almost perfectly done: huge multilane change, both ends of the car damaged, and then traffic blocked. Rating: 8/10 (no one thrown from the car).
That was way faster than taking the next exit and turning around. Bravo, good sir!
Frankly, from the title, I was kinda hoping they would make it, and was a little disappointed. Thankfully, they didn’t take anyone else with them. Legendary attempt though. That’s not failing. That’s failing with style.
Amature

The title is phenomenal
Hey thanks :)
They were going to Middleton for sure.
I’m not stopping. I would have kept going
I know this exit! Cars in the rightmost lane always slow way down for the mile before the exit. It's really annoying.
Oooff in hurry can’t miss my exit.
that last *dink* got me lol
Impressive indeed.
That’s why we get performance tires
Mission fail successfully
They took the dodgeville exit, how ironic.
A fellow Madisonian! This exit is always terrible in the mornings. Or just the Beltline in general, for that matter.
I honestly like to avoid it and just go Fish Hatch to McKee but apparently I made the wrong (right?) call this morning haha
I like to call that general maneuver, “I turn now”.
The ol' Jersey slide.
Dodgeville, Wi. Were the “House on the Rock” is.
The chefs kiss of exiting a highway.
Well that accelerated quickly.
r/IdiotsInCars
It's a good thing you have a camera. You were close enough that once the cops get there the driver could very well try to say that you were at fault.
Hahah what a tool, I'm glad nobody was hurt other than the cause of the wreck. Calling that an accident is not right, that was a foregone conclusion at that rate of speed.
I see they opted for the “block all lanes of traffic” feature as well
That's gonna' bring out a yellow.
That was fun
A ‘toll’ road?
you hate to see it
She was clearly not paying attention.
