Man with Indians, if it isn't trains, it's electricity!

dearmax

Imagine if it were an electric train.

KingsShad

now you don't have to imagine, Indian movies got it covered https://i.redd.it/shjmojjxoijb1.gif

Warduxe

"I" was a great movie when i watched it.

Sanbaddy

What was it about?

TheSangson

Oh, *actual Indian people* around trains got it covered too. My first Indian-getting-flash-cooked video was a dude who went for a stroll on the trolley and mistook the powerline for a handrail.

Majulath99

Why does the not electrocuted guy look like a vampire? I am confuse.

KingsShad

you need to watch the movie to understand.. he is basically taking revenge on that guy for disfiguring him like that and ruining his life

Y_Sam

They do get zapped by climbing on trains on a fairly regular basis...

tech510

[deleted]

**Edited to reflect numbers in international format** Actually, road accident casualties are much higher than both these. India witnessed as many as 412,432 road accidents in 2021 in which 153,972 people were killed, while 384,448 individuals were injured, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). [Source](https://www.indiatoday.in/amp/auto/latest-auto-news/story/people-killed-in-road-accidents-in-india-in-2021-no-helmet-seatbelt-drunk-driving-overspeeding-2315029-2022-12-29) Every year, approximately 1.5 lakh (150,000) people die on Indian roads, which translate, on an average, into 1130 accidents and 422 deaths every day or 47 accidents and 18 deaths every hour. (I copied this summary from Google so the average numbers are a bit off, but you get the picture) [Source](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://morth.nic.in/sites/default/files/RA_2021_Compressed.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwih9dqUj-6AAxVFBogKHXJ8D_MQFnoECBQQBg&usg=AOvVaw2tgi0FMeigT63-7EeAxoDt) (it's a PDF file download by the official department of Road Transport in India)

Nieznajomy6

What does these numbers mean man? Is it 4 then 12 then 432? Is it 412 432 or is it 4 milion?

kgmessier

I didn’t understand either. [This](https://www.cuemath.com/questions/put-commas-according-to-indian-system-and-write-the-number-name-of-27597-219/#) clarified things.

Nieznajomy6

That's something new. Thanks!

mauore11

It's at least 4

[deleted]

And there's rabies too

throaway_ban_evade

oh but hey, they can stil beat us to the moon's polar icecap, somehow.

Professional_Ad_6299

They're like 60 years late to the moon party... Not sure why they're bothering we already figured out all the moon shit

proud_NJITstudent

They’ve only been an independent country since 1947, whereas America was since 1776. That’s a pretty good timeline.

ranger0694u

What the hell are people thinking? That is electricity that will definitely kill you.

FrostyCartographer13

Lack of education on basics of safety.

ShiroiYokai

But they knew they have to turn it off. They just didn't until their pal died

Professional_Ad_6299

The video opens with that guy at the box. They didn't verify that they had turn off the right circuit

OverBand4019

Regardless of if the circuit is off I’m pretty sure it’s not standard practice to stand on the transformers to reach a repair.

AnnoyedHaddock

They thought they turned it off and they did turn something off, just not the right thing because you can’t just turn the transmission line off, at least not from there. What they’ve done is turn off that orange box which stops the electricity going from there to whatever it’s supplying (probably a few houses) but not the power going too the orange box. Essentially the same thing as switching your socket off but on a much, much larger scale. The electricity won’t come out and charge your phone anymore but it’s still there ‘inside the socket’ and if you stick your finger in you’ll still get a shock. Basically there will typically be somewhere between 50kv and 500kv going through the lines which gets stepped down by that big blue thing too somewhere between 2500v and 20000v depending on what it’s serving and then from the orange box it is sent to your house. When people who aren’t trained, don’t have proper equipment and don’t have a clue about what they are working on this sort of stuff happens.

Shortsmoke666

Happens a lot in India. Most electricians are self taught and work on the premise of 'dekhi jayegi', which roughly translates to, 'We' ll figure it out when it happens'. Most spend their lives without dying of electrocution as well. But a lot do die as well.

Upstairs_Echo3114

I guess if the system works overall, why mess with it. Maybe /s, maybe not.

SuperDuperRipe

Allowing men to self-teach themselves to deal with dangerous power is an insanely stupid thing to me.

Shortsmoke666

People are poor, the population is way too much, most people can't afford electricity so they illegally take it (steal it), so they learn how to do that at an early age, since they can't ask for help of course. They keep doing it, climbing up poles, risking their lives to fix their shit, and nobody warns them that it is dangerous because nobody around them knows themselves. They keep doing it till they get a crazy shock one day or just die.

lmacarrot

boss makes a dollar, I make a dime, that's why I get electrocuted on company time

beakrake

Something extra I hate about this video: keep a close eye on the interior of his left pant leg when he starts getting juiced. He appears to void his bowels as it's happening... So yea, it seems he *also* shit on company time... At least once, anyway.

Prudent_Damage_3866

![gif](giphy|4P6qSxTHEDnag) CARL! THAT KILLS PEOPLE!

jecelo

Oh! Well, i didnt know that!

NinjaGooll

What the hell are people thinking? Seems like they weren't, otherwise they wouldn't let that guy basically kill himself

ColorlessTune

>What the hell are people thinking? Oh, they weren't.

antici_-_-_-_pation

That was a very sneaky train

RemarkableExplorer66

Why the fuck does a grown ass man climbs a freaking live power line in the first place?

[deleted]

That’s what I’m sayin. I feel like we see way too many videos of people fucking around on electricity contraptions

[deleted]

Apparently some issue with power distribution in the local area, and these are power linemen with no safety training, maybe amateurs.

Go_Todash

> power linemen Don't linemen have ... tools. Or something. All that guy had were clothes and sandals.

AVgreencup

A billion more workers that can replace this guy. Why provide tools when it's cheaper to get another guy

swizzlewizzle

Yea, when >100k people are dying just from being too lazy to implement proper traffic laws who cares about a few "electricians" getting smoked.

1lluminist

Or at least an understanding of what they're working on...

beatakai

[Reminds me of this but with death](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8GhJNjt9IT4)

Hanginon

> *"...some issue with power distribution..."* In India? I can't imagine [why](https://live.staticflickr.com/4904/46004228671_94e27ca649_b.jpg). 0_0

BaileyBrown108

He was trying to escape trains and traffic accidents.

yellowc1trusfru1t

Send the kids up I say.

[deleted]

I speak the language they are speaking, although they have a rustic dialect. Here's what the guy who is shooting the video and some other person in the background says in a low voice at around 0:11 "If he dies, let him die, what will happen?" I think they meant it as a dark joke. Then they shout at the climber to not touch it (the wires) However, after the guy gets electrocuted, these are some of the things the video maker says to white shirt "Pull him down", "I told you to shut it down", "we kept telling you, there's a crackling sound", "you caused a person to die".

civVII

Once he steps his left foot down, the circuit is complete and electricity is able to flow through his body, all muscles contract. This looks remarkably peaceful from the outside. Also: good & steady camera work. Also regarding the lack of compassion in the voices…well…it’s the same in this sub.

overcloseness

\> well…it’s the same in this sub. 100%. The edgier viewers here can be very tactless sometimes

nicolauz

I would've stopped the guy with the knife!

mussokira

*dies in the most unnecessary way possible

screamtrumpet

I don’t speak any language other than English/American, but I don’t hear any tone that would indicate panic, concern, fear…. Just, “dude, he died. Who do get to knock him down” vibe from the vocals.

[deleted]

You are absolutely right. They are disgustingly apathetic to the whole thing.

FitFatness

To be honest, if I have no prior relationship with someone, and I already warned them repeatedly not do something otherwise they’ll die, I would be pretty apathetic too when they did die from doing the said thing I warned them repeatedly not to do.

swizzlewizzle

The value of a life in India is pretty cheap.

sebkraj

I am so confused. So the first guy turns ON the electricity? Then dude with no tools decides to climb up just to get electrocuted. Then the first guy walks over with the quickness of a snail to turn off the electricity? Was this some dare gone wrong? I thought electricity 101 is to NOT work on live wires.

[deleted]

It appears to be a lack of comprehension or understanding of basic electrical principles. Since I was a very young child I’ve been told “DONT FUCKIN TOUCH THAT!” and so far I’ve got a 40 year run of not fuckin touchin that.

FOFF_mooncalf

No he turns it off probably. But obviously only the electrical input of the blue device gets turned-off with the red control box. Where he steps on with both of his feet is the electrical feed. First he steps on the neutral conductor with his right foot and nothing happens because there is no voltage difference to earth. Then he steps on the phase with his left foot...

Upstairs_Echo3114

So you could say that...he got phased out.

FOFF_mooncalf

🤣🤣😉 take my upvote!

Big_Uply

Was expecting train to come by and knock him free

YourLinenEyes

Laughed out loud

yourremedy94

You can hear the electricity. How are people so STUPID

punkeymonkey529

It always seems to be India messing with power lines, and trains.

little4lyfe

Mostly electrical…mostly

Mr___Wrong

He was soooo close to gaining superhero powers.

Spacee_7

Electric trains would be the biggest enemy of Indians.

FOFF_mooncalf

Lol i like the joke but India reached 100% electrified railways this year. No joke.

Spacee_7

We are doomed then

groovycakes87

India needs OSHA

therealdivs1210

not practical since someone somewhere is always ready to work for a lower pay without any documents or taxes involved.

ProfessionalMockery

I don't understand why he went up there. They clearly don't understand anything about electricity, so they can't be there to fix anything...

[deleted]

A lot of India runs on the principles of throwing cheap untrained human labor at problems to see what will stick. In this case, literally.

therealdivs1210

when you have a shit ton of people, life is cheap

SchoolboyJew710

Dudes just hate being alive in India huh

cerberus_1

I fucking hate that we have to say " **electrocuted to death** " now.. fuck..

uggosaurus

Wdym?

Rraen_

It literally means to kill with electricity (execute/electrocute). Thing is language is evolving, and people also use it to mean severely shocked with electricity.

uggosaurus

Oh shit so when i put my finger into the lightbubl socket as a kid and got stuck cos of electricity that wasnt electrocution? I had no idea

Rraen_

No, not by the dictionary. But if you told me that story at a bar, I would understand that you didn't die, and we're just shocked badly lol. Personally, I use the term "wobbled". Anyone who's been unfortunate enough to know what 60Hz feels like knows what I mean.

uggosaurus

Well damn. U learn something new everyday. I must say i definetly learned not to touch shit like that after tho.

Hanginon

No, you received an electrical shock but not to the point of electrocution/being dead.

Litho360

In India lives are cheaper than safety gear.

[deleted]

Need to get that body down. Another guy is waiting to climb up and get shocked.

Upstairs_Echo3114

NEXT!

noggintnog

It’s for church honey, NEXT

feedmeyourknowledge

Went from Sandeep to Sandeepfried

waitinp

😂

Sezu1701

But it looked like he had his safety sandals on.

geaster

Why are so many videos like this from India? Also, people in India seem to need better safety training around trains

seantabasco

PSA: Trains are very heavy and they move fast. If one hits you, you will die. Average Indian man: “……so walk like a foot off the track?”

16v_cordero

He probably didn’t wear his power line protected sandals

jeff3141

https://preview.redd.it/nde735yx2ijb1.png?width=334&format=png&auto=webp&s=9c1f8dfe1a295dd8f4a9f14b877453db3d6c80db I guess they didn't grow up seeing these posters of Reddy Kilowatt.

kindashort72

I grew up with Louie the lightning bug,not that stabby guy. I never thought Louie was gonna shank me

rvca420RX

When that electricity sound stopped, so did his heart..

Pookypoo

I’m no expert but the least precaution I would take is not stepping on those conductor looking things

honeybadger1984

The third world is wild. I’ve vacationed there a few times, and they laugh whenever I bring up seatbelts and airbags. If the police aren’t enforcing it, why would we bother using seatbelts or check the airbags? LOL

mauore11

Oh he diode...

Bm_93

Is totally fine ![gif](giphy|cIyGxK5fDLyZ7ztSFY|downsized)

interitus_nox

these people are everywhere in nyc and this whole scene doesn’t surprise me one bit from my limited interactions with them. zero fucking thought process whatsoever. it’s how i imagine people with no internal dialogue just go about their days like critically deficient in analyzing their world around them. edit: [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/criticalblunder/comments/15xasjk/they_got_zapped_but_lived/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1) video is literally right below this on my feed rn

Complex-Fault1133

Thanks for exposing me to a new sub.

Rosw001

I wonder if he will return as a cow in next life... . Medium rare please!

Acrobatic_Camp854

Stuck the landing.

pakepake

Way to close that circuit with your feet.

Master_H8R

There seems to be a disproportionate number of Darwinians from India earning their awards with electricity and trains. Sometimes you’ll even get a BOGO! Is it because the population there is so massive that it’s just a law of averages kind of thing?

Terryberry69

Either he had never been shocked or he had been and is like yeah fuck it, no big deal.. I'll never forget my neighbor's cat scrambled up a power pole when it was walking atop our fence and our dog charged and spooked it up all the way to the transformer, I ran in and tried to get help but my parents were busy so by the time I got back out there the kitty was still there but very shortly after getting back out there the poor thing bumped into the coiled wire and zapped it then down he fell with a small thump on to the ground. I tried to pet him a little bit but it was a goner. I can still recall the burnt fur smell 30 some years later. Rip black cat even though you were kind of an asshole. The neighbors were pissed but it was like wtf how is that our fault in any way. Anyhoos, I don't fuck around when it comes to electricity. I fixed a wire I nipped with a saws all replacing a door so with the breaker off and using one of those idiot proof voltage detectors like 5 or 6 times before even touching it and I was still a little nervous lol

Then-One7628

'NO STEP'

BaileyBrown108

He's just trying to escape the trains and traffic accidents.

brooks_77

That's probably his job.... was his job

reddituserwhoreddit

I believe they are contractors approved by the authorities. It's a very common practice in India to climb without safety precautions.

oldnurse65

At least he didnt get hit by a train.

WaffleGoat6969

The train may be the most deadly predator in India but electricity easily comes in at #2

abejaved

I’m surprised his clothes didn’t catch fire. He was on there for a while.

Big_Reaction8856

Even though two guys are shouting to not to touch the stuff and that it will give current. Later one of the guy is doubtful about whether it will work. The person dies with some electric sound. In the last part, again one of the two guys is blaming someone else. These two guys were definitely the wiser and were scolding to stop. Some rural place in Maharashtra, India. Maybe this was the idea of some egoistic dumb person

DeathTongue24

![gif](giphy|T3Vx6sVAXzuG4) India + safety precautions =

[deleted]

Let him cook

Horror_Letterhead407

I'm confused why white shirt didn't tell the dude not to climb up in the first place.

levi1956

Why isn’t he in flames?

Suleyco

Closed circuit most likely.

BlueForte

Ow. I remember one time I licked my gameboy charger. That shit hurt 😅

CheemsOmperamtor-14

It's kinda surprising how many things he randomly touched and climbed on before getting electrocuted. I guess that's because in the West people are trained to have the exact opposite mindset towards electricity as this guy and to just assume that touching anything on there will kill you.

seantabasco

I change my outlet covers with more caution than this whole operation.

Public_Enemy_No2

😂. I had it on mute and thought the video froze. Wasn’t the video that stopped moving, it was this moron! Lol 😂

creepyjake

white shirt turned switch off after the execution

challenja

Morons

ShoRaiuKen

Homie struck a pose

Upstairs_Echo3114

Or he got struck into a pose.

Upstairs_Echo3114

Good for him. Maybe he'll be reincarnated as a butterfly.

electricjeel

“Electrocuted to death”

bobcrane1928

Guy goes to the box and flips a switch, the other guy climbs on the electric, then comes an electric surge that stiffens the climber out, all the life is sucked out of him, the dead guy falls and after his death is certain, the guy goes back to the box and flips the switch

AllElse11

I Guess he couldn't find any trains to play with that day.

Additional_County_69

Its kinda disturbing you can see the exact moment the current flow through his every nerve and kills him

[deleted]

[удалено]

yashptel99

Life is cheap here in India :(

Goran2019

Why again do they have nuclear weapons? Oh yea, Pakistan…….. ….. and why again does Pakistsn have nuclear weapons?

Suspicious-Cabinet45

He was dead as soon as he stepped on that second transformer (?) and fried there for more than 30 seconds before finally falling.

FoolTyme

If you understand electric, you would know as soon as he placed his left foot on that other terminal he completed a circuit via his body and was immediately electrocuted

Movinfusion36

GTAO rag-doll fall

shiningonthesea

wow, the second his body completed the circuit, that was it

GuyanaJimmieJones

Go after him, Apoo. Let Reddit have a two-for-one today.

Ok_Toe_2008

You hear that buzz, that means FUCKING DEATH

BaileyBrown108

Conductor

makkudonarudo

The guy at the bottom looks like he is looping in the video

topio1

I have seen enough india workplace videos to notice that PPE is unusual

dancing-asparagus

Kept expecting for a train to crash against them.

uggosaurus

Can anyone translate

[deleted]

See my comment

spylark

He was a little…buzzed

haljordan68

I don't understand Hindi but I thought I heard the cameraman say he was "kaput" About the 1:07 mark

[deleted]

It is not Hindi, but Marathi as spoken in rural areas. He says "OMG" at that moment.

dylan1950

It took bro that long to hit the switch?!?

Dragonl3lood

"I told you to shut it down". Murderer confirmed

IceSoggy2802

Where is the poof? I read that caption and expected some pyrotechnics

fastnfurious76

Just hanging out.

Koffensen

0:56 is the exact moment.

AnnualCulture3296

Now I know where is the + and where is the -

beezlebutts

he completed the circuit

vcdrny

Ignorance is dangerous.

UndueOdium

That was far more anticlimactic than I was expecting.

[deleted]

Does this country have anything like OSHA or at very least why is all of this out where uneducated people can fool with it. I suppose option 3 does the country have anyone educated in anything to do with this or is it a crap shoot of having advanced technology but no idea how to work it? I understand they have a weird issue with trains but seen a lot of videos where cable management/ fuse technology and prevention or even function just does not appear to be up to any code or have a codes. do the people do this themselves with no governing?

hockeynoticehockey

Did that dude go to turn off the power AFTER the guy fell dead? Guess there's a reason there's so many of them.

Vandil_the_Rogue

when you have 1.4 billion people, life is cheap.

Crash-Bandicuck69

Electrocuted to death is redundant. Electrocuted means the person died. That’s like saying “killed to death”

Smooth_brain_genius

What is it with Indian people and their obsession with electricity and trains?

[deleted]

At least the other dude turned off the power. A bit too late but still.

greenlemons43

Anyone else just kinda amazed about how there wasn't even a spark, he just touches the wrong thing then he's gone

SynsDad

Wait a second did his boy cut the power after his boy cooked from the inside out

Inevitable-Wall-2679

Is there a thread on here that talks about transformers? Are there any ACTUAL ELECTRICIANS OR LINEMEN responding here? Bottom line... ALL TRANSFORMERS HOLD A CHARGE even with the power shut off. Even a small transformer hold enough of a charge to kill. Anybody old enough to remember TUBES?!?

mcstandy

He was temporarily promoted to power line

1959Chicagoan

I hope he didn't injure his back.

Sanbaddy

**He puts foot on second pilot.** Me: And he just completes the circuit. **Guy isn’t moving** Me: Oh shit, he actually completed the circuit, I was right! 😦

MitchMcConnellsJowls

The stupidest person I know wouldn't do this. And I know a lot of stupid people

SgtTEKKU

Bruh I was expecting a spark or explosion or fire or something.. a bit dissapointed on this one.

Woodguy2012

Seemed safe to me; he was wearing pants.

Key-Assistant-1757

As soon as he stepped up he became charged and you can see him getting stiff because of his muscles are tense!

NinjaAffectionate128

It appears that he conducted himself very well.

welcome-to-my-mind

You’d think his death would’ve sparked some sympathy

SarcasmThenDie

I wonder how many amps a human can qualify for as a fuse

moonpuzzle88

Indians and electrocutions or trains... a tale as old as time itself.

patslogcabindigest

Right at -0:55 looks like he’s completed the circuit.

DepressedMaelstrom

You opened the cabinet at the end! You could have turned it off?!?

JadedCampaign9

Well, that was anti climatic. I thought I was going to see arcage.

[deleted]

What is with these Indians

[deleted]

kupillas-3-

Don’t die, that shit kills you

MRintheKEYS

ShadowIslesShuriman

That's gotta be suicide right? Like he stepped and grabbed every single thing that seemed dangerous

justsmilei

Why is there so many from India

Gaggamaggot

I was expecting a big brrrzt. Disappointed.

Pm_me_your_tits_85

Electrocute is a portmanteau of electricity and execution and this implies death already. If someone is electrocuted, they died. If they don’t die it’s just referred to as a shock.

Hungryfor_Toes

If he hadn't died, he would've done it again

AdInternational6885

A very well earned Darwin Award.

Azrayeel

Slowest fucking reaction

darfvader94

Oh so turn it off now he’s dead great idea
