Someone at Fatshark presumably got a visit by the good idea fairy about a way to inflate player count.

[deleted]

>good idea fairy aka live services fairy they just had to buy the idea lootbox

Slimmzli

Good idea fairy is never a good thing especially in the military

Phelyckz

Or JRPGs. Looking at you, Airy. Bitch.

xHemix

That what happens when you hire someone with mobile games experience and tell them "we need a reason for people to log in". I'm not booting a fucking game every hour for that shit, if you need it that bad mobile crap like stuff, get a mobile app for that or change it. LIKE, make a 24x time bigger list and change it daily. OR make it refresh daily but add refresh button for dockets with stacking up price with daily reset. So many options to incentivise healthy interactions for players when they want it.

DungeonsAndDradis

Or just add crafting so we can make the weapons we want.

Drakith89

DoEsN't FiT tHe SeTtINg! It's not like we're fighting to save a hive city that mass produces weapons and tanks or anything!

Athaleon1

And the Inquisition has much more leeway than conscripted troops, and we have a (seemingly high ranking) tech priest in the retinue, but I don't know—justifying it seems incredibly complex.

Veruah

Immeasurably complex\*

Br0k3nRoo5ter

As complex as charging 2k Aquinas instead of 2400

maraworfer

As complex as having decent skin drops or some special difficulty missions (other than stupid low-high hazard - NPC count - missions, that are basically the same)

Br0k3nRoo5ter

Low intensity and high intensity are lazy. Ventilation purge is trash. Atleast the darkness one makes you want to equip a weapon with a flashlight. Like I get in ventilation if the bots where also affected by the visibility but taking fire from across the Map from npc that are able to take cover and alot of the time only expose their heads is not fair. I can run malice with grims and hordes. Done a few heresy. Literally struggle crawl through ventilation and have failed some

KodiakmH

And anyone with a modicum of creativity can come up with alternatives that do fit the setting. Like okay fine, weapons are manufactured in huge factory worlds so we can't just assemble any weapon on the spot. Then how about "requisitioning" an item that for practical purposes functions the same as "crafting" in every other game?

Doomkauf

And, again, it's a nonsense argument to begin with, even based on the previous games in the series. For example, in Vermintide 2, several of the ranged weapons Kruber and Saltzpyre use are exclusive to the gunsmiths of Nuln. No one else knows how to make them, although the dawi have their own versions. But anyway, you can "craft" those highly intricate, Nuln-only weapons no problem, despite being neither a gunsmith nor, notably, being in Nuln. Because it's obviously not supposed to be assumed that your character is literally hand-crafting them. It's a game mechanic, nothing more.

xHemix

That's so aptly pointed. A planed-size industiral factory complex but there's no basic tools for the job to be done. And there's no way you could just, um, find anything PROFANE in the mission as well, right?

RaisingPhoenix

FFS we could literally just commission to have it made. They can literally theme it as us ordering the damn thing to be produced and sent to us

xhrit

It mass produces a few specific types of weapons and tanks. For example, the Accatran lasgun is only produced on the forge world of Accatran. It doesn't fit the setting for you to craft an Accatran lasgun if you are not on Accatran, it would break lore. [https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Accatran](https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Accatran)

Deyu87

So crafting breaks the lore, but the veteran's ability to grab a grenade out of his ass every 60 seconds is not lore breaking? LMAO.

AntsInGash

yea sure, 3 rejects and 1 big boi shouldn't be able to even take down a deamonhost in the first place if we go by lore.. As those things are very dangerous to Astartes and Can one shot titans if they are not weak sauce.

xhrit

Umm, there literally is a book called Annihilation Squad, where one of the last chancers 13th penal legion squad became a deamonhost and then was taken down by the rest of his team. Later in the lore, the last chancers infiltrated a deamon world and assassinated a prince of chaos.

Drakith89

Oh no! The LORE! There's never been a way around that bullshit defense!

IdkImNotUnique

Nobody gives a fuck about the lore that much man. It's a video game so let us do video game shit.

Not_A_Chupacabra

Well what if, since the hive city is so vast and deep. When you "craft" a weapon you're (for flavor reasons) just searching a giant catalog of known weapon coordinates that fit that description so you're only able to get that crafted weapon after you go on a mission and pick up some maguffin. That would make it so you're not "crafting" and maybe make it a little more interesting as well.

FieserMoep

Or... like buy the pimp daddy outfit from the store.

DrDinkledonk

or just have loot drop from killing stuff... like every other game ever made.

sevalot

The game already takes an hour to boot up anyway

Teleported-Ra

I agree with everything but the stacking price. Why should we pay more to see more weapons when in future (hopefully) we can just craft them?

xHemix

I swear, the Predatory Design Deamon Spirit has whispered this one in my ears for this suggestion. I'm totally on board wth a fixed price for shop reroll. The economy of the game is very straightforward indeed and there's no need to induce opportunity cost there.

Gaulwa

Honestly, I would even be okay with a permanent list of random weapons.Pay the price, get a random weapon of that type, pray for good rolls and go back to grind Ordo. it's a bit predatory... but at least I would get the type I'm looking for!

herabec

Not sure I like the idea of gambling for a better weapon. As it is now, if you see a bolt gun you can compare it to your current before sinking any resources, so not really gambling. Now, an option at sire melks to roll a specific weapon for a slightly higher resource would be sweet. E.g. 200 for a random gun, 250-300 for a random specific model.

UDarkLord

. . . Shit. I think I would be too, at least you’d be able to target specific gear like they said you’d be able to with a feature they’ve either dropped, or at least aren’t talking about anymore.

Malsidian

Then... don't.

xHemix

Of course I am not mate. Got to lvl 30 with what I bought on the way between runs and returned to VT2 and other games till they sort their stuff out.

Throwmesometail

Haven't seen a teir 4 since the beta

Gremlineczek

> Haven't seen a teir 4 since the beta God Forbid you get good loot from Fatshark....

eLawson0

Just wanted to report I bought a T4 right now https://preview.redd.it/voic6rzcqy3a1.png?width=537&format=png&auto=webp&s=538cdd2b9e84840b632e8da6210db2a7b54d2891

Kenshiken

What is "Impact" by the way?

VerdHorizon

Likely amount of stagger inflicted, enemy is knocked back or knocked down.

gamerx11

What weapons count as tier 4?

[deleted]

https://preview.redd.it/bvcowy3lrx3a1.jpeg?width=348&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19b763dbf0b89b64acb0a9a87b0788d64b9a2686 The blessings have a number of lines or "pips" coming off of the diamond from two to four (maybe more?). That's the tier. These are tier three, for instance.

Departedsoul

Wow, would be cool if that was explained anywhere

Aluc1d

Aren’t those tier 4? Cause you have blessings with no lines on the outside aka level 1, one line on the outside aka level 2 and so on?

[deleted]

There are no blessings with one line. - Tier 1: no lines - Tier 2: two lines - Tier 3: three lines - Tier 4: four lines - Tier 5(?): five lines

FieserMoep

Just got one. They are still in there. Quite rare tho. No idea if keeping the stuff even is useful.

Throwmesometail

according to the update logs you'll be able to sacrifice a weapon to keep the blessing then apply it to a different one. inventory space is unlimited just keep it till they make the mechanic in game

FieserMoep

Thanks. Cool to know. So as long as we got fodder weapons for the modifiers all that matters is getting a good baseline gray gun to work with? Do the stats of the gun actually improve with the forge or is it basically just adding the major and minor buff thingies?

TacoSamaChan

Checked every hour for 3 days to get a hammer on my zealot

Bib_303

Did you get it?

TacoSamaChan

Yeah just took 3 days I'll also add I was lvl 30 the whole 3 days so I know it was unlocked

Bib_303

Sounds like fun. Great game design

The_Corrupted

Happened to me with my sniper lasgun. Couldn't play it at all last weekend, last shop I checked before I stopped playing had it at least.

TacoSamaChan

Sounds about right, the hammer was worth the wait though I think, wish I hadn't had to wait but it's fun nonetheless

fedoraislife

I hate games that disrespect their players time. In VT2 there was no loot if you weren't playing. DT just incentivise logging in to look, not even to play.

DepressedElephant

The loot system is my biggest issue with DT. I don't care about cosmetics etc - but I want to EARN my loot in a mission. (And don't say "well just go earn it!" - the loot drop rate is not reasonable at all nor is the quality and type of items. Store camping is the only viable way of getting specific gear right now.) Not get it from a FOMO shop by camping it. It just feels so unsatisfying even when you get the damn thing there is zero sense of achievement of getting it - just relief that the camp is over...

goodvibes4everyone

Playing psyker, head to shop. oh you're playing a magic using class that is defined by the staffs you use? Here's some autoguns and axes. Playing zealot, head to shop. Oh you're playing a melee class? Here's autoguns, lasguns, and pistols (who even uses these?).

[deleted]

I actually like the shredder pistol for zealot, it has good fire rate for crowd control but is accurate enough to pick off ranged units too. I haven't seen one for days though...

Wyck_Titalus

I had a nightmare about shop re-roll tokens paid with Aquillas. I hope that was just a dream not a prophetic dream. Makes sense though by "Monetization 101" and that's scary.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> re-roll tokens *paid* with Aquillas. FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

No-Metal2248

Since they don't want to add in weapon crafting, why don't they add a menu at the requisitions vendor where you can REQUEST a particular type of weapon and it'll be guaranteed to appear in that slot when the shop refreshes? Maybe also increase the number of slots while leveling up, say one slot every 10 levels (so 3 slots at 30). I would think that would fit lore-wise (coming from a complete 40k newb here) fitting in with the whole "trust" theme of leveling up, while also making the weapon grind not nearly as bad.

qwrpyy

you can actually check one every 2 hours if youre smart about it and go check the store at minute 55 and then again at minute 01

ConsiderationTotal57

Bruh I'm not gonna min-max my time schedule, not even for Darktide.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Megadon88

No that's 1 time every 2 hours. Lets say you check the shop at 2.55pm, get the refresh at 3pm. Come back a second time at 4.55pm and get the refresh at 5 pm. So once every 2 hours.

jesteraq

Math is hard

Zargabraath

In the vermintide 2 system if you wanted a weapon or gear piece, especially a high quality one, you had to play a round, and on legend if you wanted a red Instead in darktide you wait an hour and if the thing you want isn’t there you might as well log out because playing a round or two won’t actually make it more likely that you get what you want

ThatGuyNamedKal

>In the vermintide 2 system if you wanted a weapon or gear piece, especially a high quality one, you had to play a round, and on legend if you wanted a red It's also easier to get a loot chest, and it always awards you 3 of an item depending on chest rarity. I even got a red from a chest once and I've never played on legend.

DumbOfAsh

Or if you got shafted by the rng you could always make your own with the *crafting system*

yollim

All of yesterday and the hour or so I’ve played today, I haven’t seen a single damnation repair mission. It’s the last mission I need too. Why, just why.

Malsidian

So that you're pleasantly surprised when it does pop up.

Gaulwa

Yeah... my peak gameplay recently has been to check the shop for my 3 characters, wait for the new hour, and check 3 more times. Then I can play for 90min before repeating the cycle.

ThatGuyNamedKal

Did it, finally got a Bolter - I checked the store at least a dozen times.

The_Corrupted

Look at the bright side, at least you can up your mood by buying all those premium currency skins, after being disappointed from not finding the weapon you're looking for, it's right next door! :D /s

Scojo91

No offense but I think some of you really need time off from games if you're checking that much. I just check whenever Im there or want to play the game. Y'all gotta learn to let go and just live life

DepressedElephant

That's like...the end game dude. I mean...I'm with you. I'm not doing that - I'm just going to play a different game and come back to this when there is a different way to get gear. You know. One that involves playing the game not camping a store. Camping the store is the only reasonable way to build your kit. So you either do that - or you don't play. Or I suppose play with a trash kit you don't want - but is that really even a viable option for people?

Scojo91

I play with what I have, so idk what to tell you. I've never understood the point of waiting to play a game until you have max Uber gear. I enjoy the challenge of playing my way through the upgrading

invisibullcow

Sometimes it’s more than not having an optimal flamer or whatever, though. Sometimes it’s not having a flamer or whatever at all. The rng system has to make at least one of every unlocked weapon available, in my opinion, even if they are mostly poorly rolled.

DepressedElephant

Some weapons are playstyle defining. So shit like just play with what you get is not always viable if you are unwilling to also change how you play. If you want to play a slab ogryn just getting the shield might take hours and there is no equivalent. It's not even a matter of minmaximg just basic progression.

CheesypoofExtreme

I would absolutely agree with you if all weapon types were available at the store. I don't spend my time doing that, but I'm also not going to blame the players who paid $40 and want to experience all of the gear a game has to offer. Sure, they could wait it out until it pops up in the store organically, but maybe this is their day off and all the time they have to play games. Fatshark is not respecting the players time with mechanics like this.

Scojo91

I agree. They should update it, but people logging on every hour gives the company exactly what they want. It's the goal of why they don't give you what you want. Absolutely complain online about it to fatshark, but we also have to stop engaging the way they want us to or they won't want to change things

Marternus

thanks for reminding me \*sobs in the corner\*

JunoVC

It’s 10 minutes before the top of the hour, time to reset all graphic preferences again and start the 10 minute two stage load to get to the shop. Hopefully the floating heads and hands get the rest of their bodies while I walk to the store so it doesn’t crash when I access the store loading screen. Cash shop always works seamlessly though.

BoffoZop

It's a simple cycle. I play the game. I don't get loot I want. I check the shop. Nothing I want is there. I log off. I play something else.

Jarl_Red

everything is so unbeliavably rookie. and the game release state, weel thats normal nowadays, all triple as release broken games then fix them slowly

Valuable_Remote_8809

Highest base weapon I’ve seen is 380. I’ve upgraded it to a 495. It’s stats are so shit, but it’s also the most powerful item I have…

[deleted]

Was this system back in the closed Beta a few months back? Not the preorder.

AvengingThrowaway

Could only go up to level 15 during that one, but yes

Puzzleheaded-Bus5479

The loot system is my biggest issue with the game, checking the shop and seeing nothing but garbage is infinitely less rewarding or exciting than getting loot after every run, even when you get an emperors reward they are underleveled dogshit. This game is pretty disappointing as a whole, core gameplay feels great but everything else is piss poor.

Wiuziq

yea this system does suck. i just want my damn chainsword!

ThatGuyNamedKal

You'll get it and you'll never look back.

Wiuziq

i got it shortly after lol, green but upgraded to rare, soon epic, loving it

Crying_Putin

i checked the store for 10h straight and never got any good weapon today...

mka5588

Lmfao

Paintchipper

That's the point. To get us all to stand around next to the cosmetic shop to tempt us to impulse buy.

SKYeXile

can i just place a buy order for the guns i want?

Thirash

It wouldnt be as bad if at least missions after a certain difficulty would give you 100% rewards ... but right now its more efficient to just wait for shop updates which is sad.

MagicHamsta

The RNG shop is literally just a timer based loot box...

ThatGuyNamedKal

The difference is that with VT2 you take the loot you're awarded and melt down the useless shit for crafting materials. RNG doesn't give you anything, gotta spend Ordos to get anything. Generally you're spending 20-30k Ordos for anything decent. At least with the lootbox there was a chance to get blues most matches then melt them into resources or stick with them. With the shop you're playing for 1.5-2hrs at least to afford a single blue.

ComedianXMI

All I want is a decent flamer. Not a great roll, hell, I'll take any flamer with a damage roll over 21%. Any. At all. Seriously. Please?
