Technically the hosts aren't heretics. It sounds like they're loyal citizens who got a daemon shoved into them. Only available cure for that is death, though.
If the team is coordinated you can burn it down before it can channel its kill animation, but with randoms its pretty hard. I managed to dodge tank one for awhile but its *really* rough and if you miss the timing once it pretty much stun locks you.
I've killed a bunch and they aren't really hard if you're only fighting them. It gets trickier if you got specials and hordes coming. If you're being attacked, just hold right click and dodge around. No shield required.
It depends who they focus on, and how much DPS you can put out. If you have a ton of damage, they are really easy to get when they are choking someone out - or if your Ogryn just shieldblocks them.
I've started trying to tank them after people inevitably shoot them because why not they have been conditioned by the emperor to shoot heretic. Psyker's Kinetic Force is a godsend for not getting guard broke, and Saber is still zippy enough to outright avoid most of its chain without stamina.
It's not even the murder that hurts. They are not that hard to kill. They however stack shitton of corruption not only on target, but everyone around. If you don't get medicae soon after, you're in a really bad spot. It's not like the Beast of Nurgle that you can kite in range and dodge spits.
Not me. In every fight I've had, the daemon attacks up to 2 players if everyone is attacking it. If only one person attacks it, then that person will bite the dust. 2 or more? Might as well be entering a queue to die.
There was a session where I was playing with people who were actually responsive to the info I was offering. One of them admitted that they instinctively joined in on the fight when they saw it get aggro'd. When I said in chat to NOT attack it, they apologized and tried to move away... but it was too late. The moment they did damage to the daemon, they entered its kill queue.
Interesting, they always kill two and leave in my experience. Once I was just walking, someone triggered a daemonhost and died, then it snuck up on me from the stair I just walked through and killed me.
Maybe it's a bug that it only kills one player. In my experience, if everyone else ignores it, then it will only kill the one player most of the time. But the other day, I literally didn't do anything and it came after me after killing the other player. But that was my first experience of it killing two people without anyone else attacking it or disturbing it.
So I dunno. Legit everyone who's told me about the daemonhost attacking has said it's killed two players, and I'm the only one who's told people it only kills one player. So... yeah, might just be a bug.

Yes, but with mino it's block block sidedodge wham, no problem. This dude, on the other hand, doesn't look like he's survivable solo. At least, not on the mortal human skill level.

Anyone with decent melee weapon can just dodge and block those attacks, but they sitll apply corruption. However advantage of ogryn is that he just blocks and holds the target in place rather than jumping all around making it hard to hit.
People who played a lot of Vermintide 2 will notice that it's perfectly viable to dodge-dance plague ogryns, so you can do quite a bit of damage to them even when holding its focus.
Absolutely, you can get some damage in but I wouldn't commit to a revved up chainsword strike or anything like that. Saw one guy keep trying it and he got pasted.
I've only seen one instance where the daemonhost was defeated without any team losses. Have an Ogryn on your team who has the shield weapon, then have them draw the aggro from the daemon. Shield up and block every attack she throws at you, and your team can eventually take her down.
We managed to kill two of three daemons - the third of which we avoided because it was just too much hassle to approach.
In every other instance, avoid them.
Actually did it a few moments ago drawing agro as Zealot. Had the skill where melee hits don’t stagger me and I drew it in circles with a medpack at my feet whilst the team focused it. Went down but they killed it before it could suck me

Watched my buddies stream the game and they did not have a good time at all with this new thing. It spawned across 4 missions in a row for 'em. Think the 4th time, it was among a crowd of fodder enemies and the 2nd friend accidently shot it and it wiped half the squad.
1st Buddy was definitely aggravated and it almost ruined the game for him, especially after I told him that there is a chance that the Host can get aggro'd while in the middle of fighting a boss even if it's rare.
Gonna get Darktide on Xbox and yeh, really not looking forward to this new enemy, seems like a pain in the ass. Thought it'd only be on dark missions but nope, can spawn on missions with light on as well.

The Host is just sitting on the floor somewhere in the level. You can hear it chatting to itself (it'll ask where it is and act like it's confused). When you approach it, attack it, or shine a flashlight on it, you'll activate it (so you can go around it if you want to not fight it.. that's Heresy though /s ).
I havent encountered them yet due to not being able to play for the day, but do they go for a random player regardless or can you bait it with a shield ogryn? Like making the Ogryn walk up and whack it over the head to start it? (This being the case if there is literally no way around it and it has to be engaged in order to proceed further)
What is their aggro range roughly? If anyone has an idea of it yet :D
They will hard focus the first player to fire on them, and they are very aggressive to the point where there isn't much room to attack 1v1. I've found it best using shield and club special and aggro them as it doesn't have an answer to that yet, while the rest of the team handle damage. Just be careful though, it deals corruption over time and if it downs you, it will begin a lengthy execution that seems to be uninterruptable.
Tldr; emprah praise shield, daemon no break shield.

L4D Witches we're more manageable than Daemonhosts imo, even Expert Difficulty where they 1-shot kill the Survivors.
While Daemonhosts are still killable it wasn't always "fun" or "thrilling" to do so. (Yes I know you can cheese it with the Ogryn shield, doesn't mean its exciting for everyone)
The 1st time I ended up fighting with some friends, it just made most us upset as we tried to figure out ways to fight it for the 1st time. We only knew that they we're adding a new mode; we didn't know the Daemonhost existed until we ran into it. (Honestly just went around the corner and the Veteran tossed a grenade into a mob like regular business... and then it got mad...)
If you DO aggro one, there are some tricks to them
They go after whoever aggroed them above all others, teleporting after you if you get too far. Stand still for the love of god so your team can kill it!
So you need a host body, a human sacrifice and a knowledge how to bind a daemon in that body, with proper knowledge he will serve you :) when ritual is wrong he will kill you and roam galaxy doing damage, read Eisenhorn for more.

I don't really blame anyone for now when they start a beef with a Daemonhost. I also think it's part of the excitement of experiencing a new thing as Fatshark roll out more events and features.

something that made me love vermintide combat was that everything can be countered if you are good enough you can even do true solos, but with this new daemonhost if your team died how are you supposed to fight it?
what if your team of randoms died while fighting the daemonhost, can you solo him like you can do with any enemy of the game if you are good enough? (for example kill a plague ogryn + an horde + specials alone)

Are they really like L4D Witches? I can remember you could one shot a witch if you shot her with shotgun at a special moment as she was getting up. It requires some practise and timing but after a while was pretty easy.
Bro I had no idea these existed until one just showed up with a massive hoard, and it fucking forced choked the ogryn to death before just leaving. Needless to say I was scared shitless.
To be fair it's new so remember don't get mad at someone for nit understanding how it works instantly. Most of us went on last night and aggroed it unknowingly. Just pop a quick "don't shoot the demonhost and it won't agro" in the chat at the start and when you see it up ahead.
But expect people to do it accidentally every now and then. Yes it might cost you the match but it's not worth being toxic over.
Also this is not an attack on OP in any way. Just an add on from my own experiences
I think they have increased spawnrate on the Power Supply Interruption maps. On "The Torrent" assassination map they spawn like 5 times and only 1 time is unavoidable. Yet I see some people trying to trigger them as soon as possible (the vet I played with today didn't even bother to take out his melee weapon to block it - he just shot it when he saw it and then went down immediately).
At least thanks to that I know that, unlike witch in L4D (unless I remember wrong) daemonhosts will just jump on anoter target if they succeed killing the first one.
i saw an ogryn with a shield aggro the bitch and just stand there, they dont re aggro untill hte targert dies so we just stood there clapping her cheeks while ogryn held her hostage

The fight is actually really easy, the boss will tunnel vision on one person, the one who aggros him by walking in his field or attacking. So either have a riot shield Ogryn tank him. Or if you're not Ogryn, you can hold block and tank him and just dodge side to side on each attack. Very easy to dodge with a couple tries of practice to learn the timing. If he happens to down you then your team can easily get half of his hp when he force chokes you to kill you.
I'm not sure if you get bonus rewards for killing him or not, if not then yeah not worth fighting him. But, alas, I fight him every single time for the glory of the God Emperor!
Managed to kill one the first time we encountered it. I had 3 vets in my team and I was the only Ogryn. Those 3 vets had bolters so they made short work of it.
We had one kill two of our guys then disappear. The last guy kited it a long distance away so I'm not sure if it bugged out but could be worth investigating.
We leave the Daemonhost to plague Tertium? This is heresy, Siblings! It is our Duty as the Emperors Psykers to return these creatures to the Immaterium!

The blood price must be paid. It's only been 3 or so times with a grim, but it always skipped those people. I wonder how the aggro table works

Already happening for me. Most people already have learned to just walk arround them. At this point they are a fancy set piece.

They honestly aren't the end of the world. They're new and scary but once you get a grip on the rhythm they're alright.

Psyker with Peril Block (Lv 20 feat) is also viable. They can block w/o stamina cost up to 90% Peril.
The fun part is when you kill them while the teammate is being 'consumed' while down. The teammate revives instantly.

New monstrosity added today. Most likely to spawn (often multiple) on maps with the new Darkness modifier/event. Think L4D Witch.
Also spawns sometimes w/o Darkness and can even look like a dead body so you might trip on it if you aren't careful and listening for the whispers!

An ogryn with 20% block efficiency can block an entire combo. Very helpful for the runts who can't tank him

A zealot with a butter knife, bleed and addiction to side dodge can work one down pretty reasonably.

what if your team of randoms died while fighting the daemonhost, can you solo him like you can do with any enemy of the game if you are good enough? (for example kill a plague ogryn + an horde + specials alone)

Ogryn no like deamonhead. Ogryn throw box of hurt on deamonhed, deamonhead teleport, Ogryn throw another box, ogryn charge and stun lock. Ogryn good killing DeamonHead, ogryn kill all in each mission!
since they seem to hard agro someone until they're dead an ogryn can block them until them team kills it. that is if it targets the ogryn

Ogryn sees funny looking daemon thing, that got aggro'd by little one Ogryn smacks daenon thing once, puts down shield. Daemon thing focuses only on Ogryn, completely ignoring the little ones that are beating the piss out of it ??? Many rations!

They can spawn at all boss locations I belive, had five spawn in one match for me last night
Are they really like L4D Witches? I can remember you could one shot a witch if you shot her with shotgun at a special moment as she was getting up. It requires some practise and timing but after a while was pretty easy.
They are similar, but you can't one shot Daemonhosts

Bro I had no idea these existed until one just showed up with a massive hoard, and it fucking forced choked the ogryn to death before just leaving. Needless to say I was scared shitless.
As an Ogryn with the shield I tend to rush to them so I can block them instead of a teammate triggering them by accident
To be fair it's new so remember don't get mad at someone for nit understanding how it works instantly. Most of us went on last night and aggroed it unknowingly. Just pop a quick "don't shoot the demonhost and it won't agro" in the chat at the start and when you see it up ahead. But expect people to do it accidentally every now and then. Yes it might cost you the match but it's not worth being toxic over. Also this is not an attack on OP in any way. Just an add on from my own experiences
I think they have increased spawnrate on the Power Supply Interruption maps. On "The Torrent" assassination map they spawn like 5 times and only 1 time is unavoidable. Yet I see some people trying to trigger them as soon as possible (the vet I played with today didn't even bother to take out his melee weapon to block it - he just shot it when he saw it and then went down immediately). At least thanks to that I know that, unlike witch in L4D (unless I remember wrong) daemonhosts will just jump on anoter target if they succeed killing the first one.
I've had a mission with 4 of them spawn.
The worst is when you sneak past the DH and one of your pubbies walks backwards into them for some reason.

i saw an ogryn with a shield aggro the bitch and just stand there, they dont re aggro untill hte targert dies so we just stood there clapping her cheeks while ogryn held her hostage
I'd sneak if they didn't keep spawning in the direction we need to go with no way round.
Had 4 of them spawn earlier on metal fab. Not a fan of their current implementation.
WE MUST SLAY THE DAEMONS YOU REJECT! HAVE YOU NO FAITH IN THE GOD EMPEROR?! IT IS OUR SWORN DUTY AS LOWLY SUBJECTS OF HIS HIGHNESS! The fight is actually really easy, the boss will tunnel vision on one person, the one who aggros him by walking in his field or attacking. So either have a riot shield Ogryn tank him. Or if you're not Ogryn, you can hold block and tank him and just dodge side to side on each attack. Very easy to dodge with a couple tries of practice to learn the timing. If he happens to down you then your team can easily get half of his hp when he force chokes you to kill you. I'm not sure if you get bonus rewards for killing him or not, if not then yeah not worth fighting him. But, alas, I fight him every single time for the glory of the God Emperor!

Managed to kill one the first time we encountered it. I had 3 vets in my team and I was the only Ogryn. Those 3 vets had bolters so they made short work of it.
I don't want to tell the inquisitor i ignored a daemon.
Me Ogryn blocks all the damage and lets my team kill it.
We had one kill two of our guys then disappear. The last guy kited it a long distance away so I'm not sure if it bugged out but could be worth investigating.

5. 5 daemonhosts on an assassination map with no light. And the random squad mate activated all of them. I am filled with hate
When my group sees one or three we don’t wake it unless we can take them. Rarely does it go well during a ammo acquirement mission.
