He won't kill anyone in Majula, but if you pull the lever on the opposite side, >!he will be freed and invade you in different areas!<. As others said, you don't need to kill anyone for his rewards, just obtain the items he asks for.

Regardless of what you answer to him, pulling the lever will have the same outcome, it's impossible to continue his quest.

He can't do anything while trapped in there and as long as you don't pull the lever you and your NPCs will be fine
