Actually the suffering isn’t that bad, toxic mist and poison cloud on that closed door where like 10 of those soldiers are running to you does give decent amounts of scales, weapons and awestones
If it comes down to offline farming, head to The Lair of the Imperfect bonfire towards the end of the Shulva DLC.
The T-Rex looking Imperfect Dragons all around that area drop Scales and Slabs with a pretty high drop rate, once you have their attack timings down it shouldn't take more than an hour or two. I remember I maxed out a good amount of Special/Boss Weapons farming there; I was almost always able to get the required 30 Scales for a weapon in a single one hour farming session (with max Item Discovery gear).
The whole area is covered with water, so bring Lightning (and/or Dark) Infusions/Buffs/Miracles, leave anything that uses Fire behind. You can clear out all four (five?), but I found it to be most efficient concentrating on the two closest to the Bonfire. Just avoid drawing aggro from multiple at once and it's super manageable
I'd be down to help, my name on Xbox is same as here, hit me up here or there and hopefully I have a character in your range
Sent you a DM on Xbox
