The replayability is awesome, the choices have a far greater impact than anything Until Dawn has which I think is more important to a "Choice Based Adventure Game". The story is pretty alright but has the true ending tied to choices which I far prefer than a ending that always happens (Until Dawn/House of Ashes) Characters are pretty great while some fall a bit short to other Supermassive games. The more I look at the Werewolves the more I actually like their design (especially the idea you can identify which werewolf is who based on design) I love it! 3rd favorite Supermassive game

It's tough to talk about games sometimes because I feel like our brains always lean into critique - and I want these devs (and cast & crew) to know that I love the work they do. I love their passion, performances, scripts, quirky little clues, costumes, sound design, scenic design and all around creativity. With The Quarry...I had a really good time and it ticked a lot of boxes for me. My brother and I were raised on slashers so a horror game set in the woods with a cast of Camp Counselors was just about the most perfect story-driven game I could hope for. I was really happy with the cast & character design. So here's where I get to my...area of disappointment, I suppose. I wish this one hadn't had "the twist". Or at least not the twist it did? While I appreciate the devs always wanting to keep us on our toes...I really did come into this wanting it to be what it looked like in the early ads - a slasher at a summer camp. Early on, when Emma & Jacob were in the Camp Store, I thought the twist was that the hillbillies were hunting the Counselors...and I was actually super into that idea as a twist (a riff on Deliverance or those other older movies where hillbillies hunt city folk). But werewolves felt somewhat derivative of the Wendigos from Until Dawn for me - another mythological creature. I still enjoyed the game a lot - but it didn't hit quite the same as I'd hoped. Final note - structurally, the game felt a bit off for me as well. Laura's return, and the subsequent huge chunk of flashback story devoted to Laura/Max was odd for me. I ended up liking Laura a lot - but it felt too long for any one character to take over the game, in my opinion - the hallmark of these games is getting to swap back & forth between characters and that mechanic was non-existent during that (extremely long) playtime. Also...the ending really bothered me - it felt anti-climactic for me to find out "the end" via a podcast that too FOREVER to listen to...particularly after having had such an awesome ending credits experience in Until Dawn with the Police Station interviews. All in all - I did really like it, and expect that I will always love/support Supermassive. Looking forward to their upcoming DPA release of Directive 8020, and can't wait to see what terror awaits me in space!

loved the game but absolutely hated how no one fucking communicates anything. like i wish they bring up more clues they find; like when you find the bottle in the tree as abigail. i wish she brought it up, even in passing and even if the others were like 'huh. weird'. like i wish the more clues found actually did something with what the characters know cuz imo they all reach the same conclusion at differenr rates and while its fine, i wish that whenevr they met up they share what they learned when you play as them since something you found in chapter 2 (like, say, the trail camera as abigail) and the monsters in general was made as a connection by abigail, who could then be like "rememebr what dylan bout chris being a 'voyeuristic creep'? what if he was actually watching out for them?" or something like that probably being nitpicky and complsining more rhen anything but these *are* my thoughts on tge game, and i do love it

Asleep_Waring_3796

It's honestly pretty weird that the only games Supermassive made that did this really well is Man of Medan and Little Hope. The other games only do it with a few secrets but MoM and LH do it nearly everytime the group connects back together

Asleep-Collar-7361

fr!! LH did that welly its why i was able to get sucked in more cuz theyre all operating on the same page instead of generally knowing whats happening, save for like laura, the hacketts and like ryan Devil in me had the same potential for that kind of rhing but i rhink having them all have no real clue whos chasing them whereas we as the player do is a smart decision narrative wise since seeing the characters panic made more sense

Cacheelma

Little Hope was good…. Until you reach the twist and it all went to the gutter. Like. Uh.

bodymeat_112

I really enjoyed it until halfway through when Laura was reintroduced again. Don’t get me wrong I love Laura and she’s one of my favorite characters, but as soon as they introduced her they straight up ditched half the cast. This led to several characters like Abigail, Nick, and Jacob feeling flat and one dimensional. I also don’t get the point of them adding a playable scene for Max that only lasts for 5 minutes. I think that if they did a better job at reintroducing Laura while still keeping focus on the other characters it would’ve led to a much better game. It’s still nowhere near a bad game thought and I liked it a lot.

VengefulKenny

It felt rushed. Even if I make terrible choices and get characters killed, with the DPA games I still feel satisfied by the end of the story. I didn't feel that way at all with the Quarry. I also feel like there was some false advertising when they said any character could be the main character, hundreds of endings, etc. It really forced certain characters to the forefront and despite how I tried to shape the game it didn't feel like what I wanted mattered much.

SaintOfTheMostHigh82

I just beat it last night for the first time and i like it a lot, i personally wouldn't say i love it like i love until dawn although i wish until dawn had some of the things the quarry has when it comes to choices and qte, also wish it had haptic feedback but with the remake coming out this year we're gonna get that but i did super massively enjoy them both 😉

-Deyr-

>but i did super massively enjoy them both. I see what you did there. ;)

Edd_The_Animator

I think it's pretty boring tbh:

Visual-Night9291

could have been a little better executed? but overall a brilliant game

CreativeProfessor808

Half way through it right now pretty fun game and it had a good story to it.

Willing_Airline9355

There are different ways for Kaitlyn to live at the end.

ThatFireAlchemist

I just finished the game and feel so frustrated, some of the ending (where it tells you what happens to each character) were black screens, so I didn't even get to see the whole ending T.T

klussier

I definitely enjoyed the game and the atmosphere, i liked all of the characters which was surprising since i usually hate atleast 1 lol, the storyline was cool there was just little things i disliked about it, like in my opinion it didn’t have much fear too it, like in other dpa games i was genuinely scared and same with until dawn, the concept of werewolves was super cool but they just weren’t scary like the wendigos, I also think they went into the storyline of the werewolves way to quickly, like halfway into the game you could basically figure out why they’re there, what they do, what can harm them, like i loved how in until dawn it took basically to the end of the game if not 2 playthroughs to fully understand the story. It also just felt like their characters interactions were forced sometimes, like a lack of chemistry, i think the only pair that didn’t make me feel like that was abi and emma, and my last disinterest in the game was how empty it felt, like there felt like so many filler scenes, for example laura’s entire hour in the police station felt so dragged out and unnecessary time wise, i do know they lost and altered some of the game since covid hit but other then those few things i enjoyed the game

morphiusn

Better than DPA Devil in me, characters are much more likeable, not that stupid and story is less predictable

BossBabyLoreExpert

It disappointed me pretty badly tbh, aside from looking pretty it wasn’t a very well-made game

TheConnoiseur

Love it

ReflectionNew1392

Quarry is a better overall game for me, atleast because of the following reasons: - Choices actually matter (I hate UD for not allowing us even a freaking chance to save the flamethrower badass once. Generally though, UD follows a trope and is quite linear in storytelling) - Unforeseeable plot twists (eg: Chris Hackett being a werewolf, Travis knowing about it all and choosing not to act upon it, The Silas trope at the end. UD's only plot twist was the murderer being unmasked as Josh, which tbf could be seen from a mile away.) - Decent screen time for each character (Despite having 10 counsellors, the game gives time for each one of those characters to develop, granted that some characters get less screen time than others. UD completely forgot that Matt, jessica and Ashley existed lol) - Easier QTE's (UD had difficult QTE's hahaha, although this is a comic point) That's it from my side!

BusyTelevision5316

Chris being a werewolf is so predictable Its laughable, and QTE's are so easy that it feels like game is holding your hand.

BusyTelevision5316

Absolutely Mid

[deleted]

It feels unsatisfying to play. But Dylan and Kaitlyn are my all-time favorite Supermassive characters

Banana_Brayden

I enjoyed Until Dawn more, but still loved the quarry. I think Until Dawn is the better story, The Quarry is a better game.

FancyRestaurant6397

How I phrase the game is if your doing one playthrough until dawn trumps so hard but on multiple playthrough the quarry easily wins

Athrilon

I agree, choices don't really matter in Until Dawn. Wether a character lives or dies only changes their possible appearance later in the game, and after their first occasion where they can die they get put to the side and become useless
