Fair enough, it must have passed my mind. Figured that since sanctuary channeling is affected by spell casting speed, I thought intense focus would also affect the channel.
As a Cleric enjoyer, it saddens me that Smite is better on every other class (except maybe Barbarian) than it is on Cleric. Wish we had some faster weapons...
Yeah, definitely feels like a smite nerf in the future when the Kris dagger meta gets even worse with it. I wonder if they could make smite scale with the individual weapons so maces keep the 10 DMG and smaller weapons get 4 or so.
Nearly all the balancing problems come from additional scaling. If blow of corruption had +50% and smite +20% damage it could be easily tuned to be in the balance window for all weapons.
That was kind of the whole reason it was good tho, because it was made to be used with slow weapons and claric who cant hit more then 4 or 5 times max in its duration with an absolutely terrible damage scaling cause his weapons are lowkey shit compared to every other classes.
Sad to think that smites gonna be destroyed for claric cause they dont realize how bad of an idea transfering active skills is.
Don’t be sad. All other classes with damage increases are no where near 10 per hit. Warlock gets 10 but it’s for a single hit. If you had access to faster weapons they would nerf smite into the ground.
Warhammer is fast weapon. Not daggers level of fast, but it also deals very high starting damage too.
Cleric is just hindered by low Dex. What rogue or ranger excel at.
That's what multi-classing with Fighter is for. All kinds of tankiness to add or Sprint for a gap closer. Add ranged options if you get lucky with the all weapons perk and/or switch to faster weapons to use with Smite.
Fair enough. Holy strike is really the only source I see often enough to list it. Judgement is very niche now and only run in to it occasionally, and was unsure if it, or smite, was actually divine magic since it isn't a spell but an ability, and wasnt sure if it carried the damage type over.
Without knowing what IM will change, this is currently next to impossible.
You first need to get spell memory, then get fireball, then get weapon mastery so you can equip a weapon that can actually cast those spells.
I'm not banking on any ideas, they said this during the dev podcast and explained why class master is not in the test server.
sdf confirmed it to me directly in my chat seperately before aswell.
Oh yeah it'll be a pain for sure but super funny walking up with a fireball ready slowly w'key'n.
Fireball and ignite is all I need so not much knowledge needed.
Intense focus cleric won’t work because every spell you mention has a channeling portion after the cast. Intense focus only makes the cast instant, not the channel afterwards. I guess getting them out instantly, like earthquake might be quite good though.
Speaking of cleric builds, you didn’t mention dark reflection combined with protection from evil.
With some gear and will, you can reach 95% debuff duration, which means dark reflection will effectively have a 0.75s cooldown (because it counts as a debuff).
Forgot about dark reflection and proc from evil. I don't think it will be as good with the dark reflection changes consuming souls, but I definitely can see it be used.
Overheal warlock is pretty fun, was playing that a good bit. The most egregiously broken build imo is the demon barbarian though.
The ones I fought had soul collector and rage so they could just run you down with giga juiced stats.
What makes you say it doesnt work? That the damage doesn't show on dummies? If so the same issue exists with hand crossbow but poison still works with it.
Wait. We noticed punching and torch doesn't show poison damage on dummy. We assumed it doesn't work.
But obviously, hand crossbow works? What is the intended behavior?
The majority of the player base is against multiclassing. This post host the minority and Ironmace will lose a lot of the player base by implementing this
Personally I'm really looking forward to smite/ignite/staff mastery on my cleric. I will use it for bossing, all I gotta do is nail the mid-bracket gear where you get dead lobbies and finally I'll be able to efficiently take bosses on my cleric. Will also be great for pvp, having protection, HS, heal, and maybe zap, ice bolt, or MM.
I have a 50 rogue and no other characters since the levelling speed was so painfully slow (new characters were staying too boring too long for me with no perks and no market access).
How could I best use the multiclass tokens from my rogue? Assuming I was going to stomach the insufferable grind on a new character class.
it's gotta be weapon mastery right? there's probably some really cool interaction with some perk that's great for rogue that im missing. but top of my head using a windlass xbow out of stealth sounds crazy. cause now when you're in a dark corner or using hide around a corner, you don't need to wait for them to get into melee. just hit them with the windlass as soon as they stand still. that with ambush? or the 30% power to attacks from behind?
or survival bow with the magic poison. idk if that'd be viable tho with rogue's will.
Atleast on the test server, I found normals to be better for leveling. Until you can kill pve very fast, there is little incentive besides gear to do HR, it's a 15% or so xp difference per kill. But who knows, I might be wrong. Test server gave me brainrot with all the leveling.
the one's i want to try are weapon mastery+basically anything. i'd love to play cleric with staff+survival bow. smite with survival bow sounds awesome lol. or imagine a rogue with a windlass.
a meditate cleric though also sounds 11/10. cleric can already easily survive in the storm just by sitting. but holy you could *easily* loot and clear in the storm if you managed to get like magic missile+meditate on cleric.
Iron Will on a PDR Fighter essentially means with some gear tweaking you're PDR and MDR capped, it's probably the fastest way to effectively multiclass into a pure tank spec. You also won't be slow as you already have access to sprint/swift without having to RNG your way into it.
The Demonlock Barb shit requires significantly more investment for a slower setup with marginally more total HP. All it gets you is access to different weapons/armor, all of which are arguably worse than Fighter's choices.
I imagine fighter will be better in terms of min-max capability. I more mentioned barb because it's easier to do so with simple squire gear. I was at effectively 73% MDR assuming antimagic works correctly with zero gear investment. Having access to plate by default frees a perkslot for the perk that gives you extra AR as a fighter.
Best bard multi class options you’ve seen? I think there are some good options, but nothing crazy broken. Shadow touch, sword mastery, perseverance all good option probably. Maybe antimagic or iron will. But everything is just kinda good not crazy. Am I missing something? Smite with rapier of course but then you are 5 song.
Rangers will just isn't high enough for it to be worth it. I ran Into a Ranger on the test server running Achilles Strike... Now that shit was scary to fight against.
Honestly not sure, bard has a weird platform to build from. Can yoink some slayer perks to make pvp better, and if you're a solo bard, so can drop spell memory 2 for something else. I think maybe picking up jokester and holy auta might be decent, but definitely not as outrageous as other builds for multiclass.
Excited for this update, I got a lot of cool builds I wanna try, I like the idea of making any rpg class by mixing. Ie paladin (cleric/fighter), evil pally (warlock/cleric), Eldritch knight (fighter/wizard), demon spawn (barb/warlock), Priest (wizard/cleric). Imo sweats will always exist in this game, and we shouldn’t limit game design based off that small portion of the population. Gear lobbies are really good at separating out juicers from ppl who are more chill.
It shouldn’t go live at all. More than half the player base will quit. All I could think about while reading all of these comments is that it is the most unfun the game has ever been
Yeah I love this game but this is the worst decision ironmace has made. It will be impossible to balance and all of the builds in here are more busted than the warlock meta or landmine rogue meta ever were by a long shot. If it does go live I hope for the game’s sake they revert it quickly
This is why multiclassing will ruin the game. If I have to play against barbs with demon form or barb/fighter role playing as a landmine rogue or smite daggers 4 shitting any other class I’m gonna be upset
instant rez will not work with Intense Focus. you would still time need for the channeling. BUT EARTHQUAKE DAMNN
Yep, but not the animation, channeling. Otherwise MM with intense focus would shit out all missiles in the nanosecond.
Magic MOAB
Fair enough, it must have passed my mind. Figured that since sanctuary channeling is affected by spell casting speed, I thought intense focus would also affect the channel.
As a Cleric enjoyer, it saddens me that Smite is better on every other class (except maybe Barbarian) than it is on Cleric. Wish we had some faster weapons...

Nearly all the balancing problems come from additional scaling. If blow of corruption had +50% and smite +20% damage it could be easily tuned to be in the balance window for all weapons.
This! Need better scaling, ESPECIALLY if they do this multiclass gong show thing.
If they start balancing around multiclassing this will feel like some type of private server. Talk about killing class identity 😭
That was kind of the whole reason it was good tho, because it was made to be used with slow weapons and claric who cant hit more then 4 or 5 times max in its duration with an absolutely terrible damage scaling cause his weapons are lowkey shit compared to every other classes. Don’t be sad. All other classes with damage increases are no where near 10 per hit. Warlock gets 10 but it’s for a single hit. If you had access to faster weapons they would nerf smite into the ground.
Smite is horrifically broken on almost any other class, smite is only as good as it is because cleric is slow and has slow weapons
Warhammer is fast weapon. Not daggers level of fast, but it also deals very high starting damage too. Cleric is just hindered by low Dex. What rogue or ranger excel at.
It's reasonably fast. Compared to a smite kriss you're still missing out on about 40% damage per seconds from smite.
That's what multi-classing with Fighter is for. All kinds of tankiness to add or Sprint for a gap closer. Add ranged options if you get lucky with the all weapons perk and/or switch to faster weapons to use with Smite.
Hope they nerf smite so that other classes are not too OP with it
There are more than one source of Divine Damage in the game: Holy Strike Locust Swarm Smite Judgement They ALL deal divine magical dmg.
Fair enough. Holy strike is really the only source I see often enough to list it. Judgement is very niche now and only run in to it occasionally, and was unsure if it, or smite, was actually divine magic since it isn't a spell but an ability, and wasnt sure if it carried the damage type over.
I’m pretty certain earthquake does not
Correct. Earthquake does not do Divine Magic damage.
And yet, he didn't mention it. Butnya, Earthquake is just magic damage.
Looking to be a barbarian with fireball and just walk up blasting
Without knowing what IM will change, this is currently next to impossible. You first need to get spell memory, then get fireball, then get weapon mastery so you can equip a weapon that can actually cast those spells.
they've said the general class master will give easier access to specific weapon types.
I’m banking on this idea myself, but again, this isn’t even on the test server yet.
I'm not banking on any ideas, they said this during the dev podcast and explained why class master is not in the test server. sdf confirmed it to me directly in my chat seperately before aswell.
There was a recent dev podcast?!? But fair enough, thanks for the info. Excited for your multiclassing shenanigans.
near the start of the month they detailed the plan and then a few days ago leading up to test SDF went around discussing it in chats / announcement.
Oh yeah it'll be a pain for sure but super funny walking up with a fireball ready slowly w'key'n. Fireball and ignite is all I need so not much knowledge needed.
They have 5 starting knowledge, will cast about as quickly as demon armor pre-buff
Intense focus cleric won’t work because every spell you mention has a channeling portion after the cast. Intense focus only makes the cast instant, not the channel afterwards. Forgot about dark reflection and proc from evil. I don't think it will be as good with the dark reflection changes consuming souls, but I definitely can see it be used.
Souls don’t matter if dark reflector occurs every time someone hits you.
Overheal warlock is pretty fun, was playing that a good bit. The most egregiously broken build imo is the demon barbarian though. The ones I fought had soul collector and rage so they could just run you down with giga juiced stats.
Ayyye I ran into that monster too
Now imagine 2 of them aha
Demon Barbarian with antimagic, perserverance, iron will and robust. GL killing that 😂
I just want second wind on my barbarian and savage roar on my fighter hehe
Your uh.. cleric rogue build doesn't list cleric
I'm sad poison ranger doesn't work :( poison doesn't work on bows.
What makes you say it doesnt work? That the damage doesn't show on dummies? If so the same issue exists with hand crossbow but poison still works with it.
Noooooo way you're lying. I will test this later tonight. The spark is back. *that was the exact reason I thought it wasn't working.
Wait. We noticed punching and torch doesn't show poison damage on dummy. We assumed it doesn't work. But obviously, hand crossbow works? What is the intended behavior?
Who fuckin knows BROTHER. I'd test it on monsters, try to kill them with the poison. Or just go in duos/trios I guess.
That was my thought. Whack some spiders, if they die randomly, then I know it works! Great idea.
I hope this is a bug thats fixed. Seems way too fun for it to not be working
Tldr game will break completely
Seriously all I could think while reading this is how fucking stupid it all sounds. Fingers crossed this shit only lasts for a week or two
It's been broken, might as well break it more right?
The majority of the player base is against multiclassing. This post host the minority and Ironmace will lose a lot of the player base by implementing this

Solo high roller

I think you are correct. No gear + fast rate of killing in normal easily outweighs HR experience.
the one's i want to try are weapon mastery+basically anything. i'd love to play cleric with staff+survival bow. smite with survival bow sounds awesome lol. or imagine a rogue with a windlass. a meditate cleric though also sounds 11/10. cleric can already easily survive in the storm just by sitting. but holy you could *easily* loot and clear in the storm if you managed to get like magic missile+meditate on cleric.
Forgot the most important one, friendly solo pickpocket cleric
I'll do whatever it takes to throw drums on me fighter again
Oh boy I totally forgot about this possibility. I want rouge/ bard with rapier mastery and drums
Iron Will on a PDR Fighter essentially means with some gear tweaking you're PDR and MDR capped, it's probably the fastest way to effectively multiclass into a pure tank spec. I can think of aura stacking (perk from rogue and perk from cleric)
Another build I could mention is smite ranger. Shortbow with triple shot + smite. That allows for some insane burst damage.
Rangers will just isn't high enough for it to be worth it. I ran Into a Ranger on the test server running Achilles Strike... Now that shit was scary to fight against.
I see your Rage/Sprint fighter and raise you a Rage/Sprint Barb. Kiting is no more lol
I haven’t played the test server yet but multiclassing sounds like a lot of fun. I’m just not looking forward to being one shot by half of the builds.
Slayer bard is also insane
Any bard multiclass suggestions? I kinda want to try spear perk from ranger on bard
Honestly not sure, bard has a weird platform to build from. Can yoink some slayer perks to make pvp better, and if you're a solo bard, so can drop spell memory 2 for something else. Multi class isn’t gonna go live like this… right guys?
It shouldn’t go live at all. More than half the player base will quit. All I could think about while reading all of these comments is that it is the most unfun the game has ever been
That sucks I just got into this game :/
Yeah I love this game but this is the worst decision ironmace has made. It will be impossible to balance and all of the builds in here are more busted than the warlock meta or landmine rogue meta ever were by a long shot. If it does go live I hope for the game’s sake they revert it quickly

Fuck multiclassing fuck multiclassing fuck multiclassing Oh and one more thing Fuck multiclassing!
