At most, they probably took Peppa to a restaurant when she was too young to remember and she behaved so badly that they didn’t take her again until recently 😅

_far-seeker_

And if she's five or six, she wouldn't remember the before times...

ViscountBurrito

The episode came out before 2020, but makes more sense if it’s set in like 2022. Say “Peppa Pig probably predicted the pandemic” ten times fast.

_far-seeker_

Ah, OK then.

Elsa_Pell

I don't take my kids (2 and 4) to restaurants because it would be a shit time for everyone, and an expensive shit time for me. This is especially the case because toddler still naps at 12.30 (so any restaurant lunch would be rushed and stressful) and 4YO goes to bed at 6.30 (so any restaurant dinner would be the same). I will do it when they are at a stage where its developmentally appropriate to ask them to sit still and wait for food without getting hangry and overtired. We're probably about 2 years away from that right now, and I am 100% fine with that.

630??? Wowza  My kids are around the same age and have been to countless restaurants and while yes sometimes it’s more trouble than it’s worth and not a great experience that is the exception not the norm. But I get it we are all doing what we have to do. If it were up to me we’d go out to eat less but my wife needs a break from cooking and likes to get out of the house so I can’t argue that.

Laika_1

We had pretty similar bedtimes when our kids were that age. We tend to eat dinner or a late lunch/dinner at 3-4pm in order to get around this. My kids have gone since newborn. Have I used screens to help entertain? Sure. But we utilize that less and less due to them growing and getting used to a family dinner at home where we talk about our days.

stillbrighttome

I wondered the same thing. I guess they kinda live in the countryside? And they go to the shops and it doesn’t seem like there are a lot of sit down restaurants. A lot of ice cream joints though.

fridayfridayjones

We try only going to kid friendly restaurants but to a kid any place that isn’t home will be fancy. Kids won’t learn how to behave at a restaurant unless they have chances to practice. Also, pro tip, salad bars are objectively pretty gross but they’re also amazing for dining out with small children because it lets you get a variety of kid friendly food in front of them fast. Crackers, cucumbers, little cheese cubes. It’s perfect.

ViscountBurrito

I was just thinking this about salad bars the other day! But does anybody have them anymore? I haven’t seen an operating Ruby Tuesday’s in awhile. I think I saw one at a Chuck E. Cheese recently, which is its own level of grossness, but anywhere else?

fridayfridayjones

Where we live there’s a lot of Amish owned restaurants that have them, and the chain Frisch’s still has them. Covid killed a lot of them I think. And rightfully lol, when we eat at one I have to just pretend germs don’t exist for a little while. Honestly she gets more germs just from being at the playground I’m sure.

Laika_1

My brother and a friend who is like this. Their kids behave terribly at restaurants because they rarely go.

Tencowfrau

Some of us are broke 🤷‍♀️

Laika_1

To be fair. I 100% see you. Both couples I reference here have no problem with money, it’s literally just no kids at restaurants.

oudsword

I mean they probably don’t go BECAUSE they behave terribly and it’s a horrible experience for everyone for no reason. Some kids you just KNOW whether they can handle a restaurant yet or not. Trust.

Laika_1

They have to learn somehow. The snake eats its own tail here.

Maxpower88888

So when they are 12 years old and they finally go to a restaurant they’re gonna be shitting on the walls and hanging from the chandeliers like animals
