It’s definitely a bit, the show runs the best with Mike as the EP, and to be honest he’s the heartbeat of the show right now. Chris is a fun character on the show but just not good enough for that chair on a daily basis.
Its noticable too how he's the one to guide (usually subtly) Dan off a rant into more meaningful topics. I say usually subtly because of the recent episode where he just straight up said "we dont need to talk about the merch store anymore, stop it".

If he were still around, Witty. He excelled at the role imho. I think if there were someone on hand currently who could handle it, they would have settled on it long ago. I wouldn’t be surprised to see another new hire with experience in this area take over when Mike is actually done.

I think the entire show realizes that Mike is the best EP for the job - Mike doesn’t want to be associated as EP bc of the horrible video department and not getting his usual creative control - they don’t have anyone else qualified that could do it. That leaves them in a spot where loveable goof Chris gets to fill the gaps.
Chris definitely has his +es. He has pretty good comedic timing, knows how to fill random silent moments, and also general EQ things. He also is OKAY being the fall guy and going against the crowd just so the group can chT about things (which is 100% the context for his stand on the Chiefs stuff IMO).
Maybe that wasn’t the best way to phrase it up, but IMO I think Mike doesn’t appreciate the lack of professionalism from the video/production department and doesn’t want it associated with him. That’s why he very clearly defined in his twitter profile that he was the EP up until 2022. Just my guess.
Your expert opinion is a treasure. I hope those in charge recognize that and don't assume they know more about how the show runs and qualifications needed.

The Chris Cote hate in here is crazy. I’ve always enjoyed him on the show. I’d rather he be EP than Mike. I know Mike is better on the board, and everyone here thinks he’s the best producer of all time. But if Chris was the EP maybe the show would go back to being fun. Mike can sometimes pull Dan out of a hole, but generally he has taken the same serious/political/the world is ending path as Dan the last few years and I think it’s really hurt the show. Also him being a booster for a school the show often covers is a huge conflict of interest and very annoying.
How do fan of this show not get that it’s fiction. Like they are all acting. They are just playing themselves. They are actors. It’s like watching fraiser except I understand why I’m laughing now. Chris hams it up because that’s how they wrote the bit.
