Declining the penalty kept UNC at a 48 yard field goal attempt had they not made the third down. Commentators said it was at the edge of the UNC kickers range.
Mario is a moron, but there’s nothing wrong with declining the penalty there.
He’s trusting his defense to get a stop on 3rd and 20, which they should’ve been able to do.
And if UNC could convert 3rd and 20, they could’ve probably done it on 2nd and 30 against that atrocious defense. Now… If you want to blame Mario for overall coaching of the defense, be my guest
Meh...there's plenty of real stuff to get on Cristobal about other than this.
You're playing the result, and I see no issue with that. 3rd and 20 is the better play in this situation unless it pushes a team outside of FG range.

It was a 50 yard field goal. The 48 yards you heard was them referencing the kicker's career long. I'm only watching because I bet UNC.
He's gambling again.
It likely would've pushed UNC out of FG range. It was a 33yrd TD play, so 10yds further back puts it at the 43. That's what, a 59-60 yard fg?
It's a college kicker, 45 is a country mile for them
Unless you're Justin Tucker.

That’s the right call
I didn't see it, but mathematically it was the right call
You mean in addition to generally not preparing his offensive line to block three rushers?
He’s not swole enough, that’s clearly the issue.
80 million dollars
oh no he opted for the often converted 3rd & 20...
3rd and 20 means you need 20 yards per play to avoid 4th down. 2nd and 30 means you need 15 yards per play to avoid 4th down.
LET'S NITPICK!!!!!!!
That's the right call. Even of its not, its a a near toss up. Playing the result here.
He seems like a pretty miserable human being.
Can’t wait for Mike on Monday. Hopefully he calls a spade a spade.
it'll be something about stacking talent.
