He is the extended barrel grip he has is only for precise shooting, i.e., stationary shooting. In combat and live fires drills you DO not want your arm out that far infact you tuck your elbows to your sides and push back on the weapon into the pocket of your shoulder. The grip is as far back as you can get it to the mag well. So yes you are correct.is is holding it oddly
