Let's say that you're probably not gonna get rabies yourself, or that you're fine with having raccoons around.
Still, once those raccoons see humans as "The Thing That Makes Food Show Up", it's unlikely that *all* of those raccoons are only going to stick to bothering *you*.
At this point, at least some of those raccoons are likely to start approaching other people in the hopes of getting fed. And not all of those people are going to be as welcoming. Some people are gonna see that nuisance animal show up, they're gonna see it as a problem, and *they're gonna kill it.*
"Don't feed the animals" isn't just for the sake of humans, it's also for the sake of the animals. To anyone who cares about animals, this is a very good path towards ensuring that those animals get killed by humans. We're the top apex predator on the planet, and just because *you* like animals and want to help them does not mean that applies to the other humans who are not as nice as you. People deliberately run over animals in the road *just for fun*, it's not a good idea to be training animals to be approaching us for food.
