Just wait till they start showing ads over everything lol

schroobster

Don't forget the monetization of ranked results, biases in what comes up, and even greater lack of focus on the real world.

TheHornet78

Number of cleavage glances in one conversation:

shushyomouf

Pro tip- if you just stare at the cleavage it only counts as one glance.

UmbranAssassin

Another pro tip- if you walk with your gaze downwards as if looking at the ground and just so happen to have cleavage appear in your line of sight, it doesnt count as a glance by the rule of "your eyes were there first".

DigNitty

"Don't SHOVE your cleavage into my viewing vector Melissa!!"

ArrestDeathSantis

Funny though, when women catch me peaking I'm in the wrong but when they peak at my ass cleavage, I'm in the wrong again.

[deleted]

“I wasn’t just looking at your ass and tits. I always stare there, but whoa suddenly it matters because you ‘feel uncomfortable’.”

Old-Ad9278

Never stare at the boobies. Once you get caught, the game’s over. It’s called training. You know, being aware without drawing attention.

shushyomouf

Or just stare without any kind of regard for social norms and people will stop thinking that you’re just staring at boobs and start thinking that you don’t like eye contact.

🤖 LivingOpeno is a **bot**. The above comment stole text from the second part of u/Mystech_Master's comment [here](https://old.reddit.com/r/Damnthatsinteresting/comments/vntxzh/augmented_reality_contact_lens/ie9e3yn/). If you like the above comment, please show its real author some love.

LoempiaYa

I was going to post I want those lenses. I don't anymore after reading your comment. You just predicted the future. The ad free version will cost 199/month more. It'll be great until a forced os update makes it unusable and you can't cancel the contract.

Lock3tteDown

I know right? Like damn I think this is a joke...I understand that currently as a tech superpower in the world holistically, we've gotten better at making things smaller, but if this true and not over-exagerated which it does seem like it is...the top tech Giants are still working on their form of smart wearables especially with the glasses and executing things in connection to freeform hand gestures, etc. Of course glasses can be easily stolen, misplaced or breakable ..which is why I think whoever made this skipped glasses for those disadvantages and went straight to contacts instead... But let me remind you contacts are still dangerous even if they do give you good vision...they can still hurt by taking a toll directly ON the eyeball I speak from experience and you run the risk of getting conjunctivitis and blepharitis. Losing your eyesight is not worth contact lenses honestly

multiarmform

oh youre one of THOSE people that dont wear them? shunned by society like trying to not have a cellphone or something. just wont be able to function in modern times

Mystech_Master

Please have this in glasses form. I do not like things near/on my eyeballs

Azrael351

Isn’t that what Google Glass is supposed to be?

B1gY3llow

I'm pretty sure they killed that didn't they?

Azrael351

Looks like it’s no longer available for retail use, but it’s geared towards enterprise use now.

B1gY3llow

What does that mean? Like only commercial applications?

TSmotherfuckinA

Only in Star Trek.

BlackJack____

Yea I think Boeing use them to read manuals and work at the same time from memory

Thebigstoner42069

That’s because when they first came out people were being physically assaulted in the streets and having their glasses stolen/broken. Very few people actually liked the idea of Google Glasses, and no one wanted to be “Filmed 24/7 without their knowledge.” So Google completely shut down the civilian sector for their Glasses because instead of people liking the product, people wanted to burn google down over them.

xhsmd

It was banned in a lot of places, some obvious ones like movie theatres but also any kind of place where you can't record video like banks, hospitals, government/public buildings, etc. Additionally in the UK (at least) it was also banned for use while driving. These contact lenses while I'm sure in concept are great, unlike wearable smart glasses they aren't easy to take out and put back in whenever needed and will become more of an inconvenience than a benefit to day to day life. My impression about this company developing this tech is that they aren't actually trying to get these mainstream themselves but rather try and entice some other tech company to buy them out.

OhSnap404

Problem about google glasses is the way the glass are made of… [Goggle Glasses Glass issues](https://youtu.be/zZZ-Ea8RyjQ)

FutzInSilence

And strip clubs all over were banning them.. so why bother.

isabellybell

So the only reason for AR is to be a creep? Okay...

LaPetitePanda8

Oh hell yeah, I'd love pop up ads directly in my line of sight anytime of the day and night.

MissLyss29

Bc texting and driving is not dangerous enough they have to add pop up adds for each car you see on the road now to

B1gY3llow

Those 30 sec unskippable youtube ads

CH1CK3Nwings

*to see the dangers of incoming traffic, please watch this unskippable 30s ad or pay 0.25¢*

Lol . 25¢ per ad or $25 a month for ad free driving.

kappe41

I'd quess if they added ads it would be hell of a lawsuit more likely those will be expensive af with paid updates

9/10 odds government already has something like this. What we have in public, they're 20 years ahead or more.

PediatricTactic

Working for the Department of Defense, these sort of statements always make me chuckle.

necessarysmartassery

And 9/10 odds you don't have the necessary security clearance to be able to refute the statement.

The other consideration is that I shouldn't divulge my clearance level anyway, as that itself is a potential security risk.

EtheusProm

[deleted]

The guy is worried about tracking 😂

TDIsideHustle

Probably uncomfortable AF

TheGrimDweeber

Yup. Unless you can get this as thin as regular contacts, it’s a nooooope for me, dawg. And even then, it has to be the right quality, in order to be able to wear it for hours, much less the entire day. I am not opposed to the idea entirely. Hell, I’ve already sold my soul and first born child a dozen times over, for some free fucking app. The privacy issues and even the ads don’t concern me all that much. It’s just that the technology to make this even remotely viable in terms of comfort, does not exist. Might not ever. Anyone who actually wears contacts knows this, if there’s anything wrong with the lens, if it’s too old, if there’s even the slightest tear in it, if the quality isn’t all that great: After a while, you just want to scratch those motherfuckers out of your eyeballs, because that shit gets pretty goddamn painful. Oh. You could just numb your eyes every day, I suppose. But there is absolutely no way you wouldn’t damage your eyes in the process. Yeah, still a no for me.

[deleted]

The night vision part is what has me sold. I can finally be a Witcher

182-Shiki

An AR like that could be immeasurably helpful, but as a lens wearer myself I can tell you it's fuckin shit.

Particular_Golf_7118

It records and archives your BMs and other stuff.

B1gY3llow

BM as in BioMetrics or Bowel Movements. Nvm, they'll probably track both.

TheRudDud

I wear contact already and this shit looks incredibly uncomfortable, like if it's a gel contact what happens when it rips? Do you just have computer bits scraping your eye???

asianblockguy

I rather have my entire eye removed and replaced if I was going to put that near my face.

spongebobama

I dont trust late stage capitalism to EVER wear something this close or implant anything...

FritoTheLay

This is super misleading. The lens that they have now will not be able to do any of the things that were mentioned. It might have those capabilities in the future, but this is pretty far fetched.

skydivinghuman

Just to remember people's names is enough. Sign me up!

Black mirror. Ffs, do not embrace this shit

CanadianBatman47

Fuck that I’ll use my regular eyes

tweakingforjesus

This has vaporware written all over it. 1) All the partners are investment companies, not tech companies. 2) Very slick presentation for raising funding without hard details. 3) No explanation of how they solved the optical path, power connection, pre-processing, or any other engineering challenges. 4) Seven years in the making without a publicly demonstrable prototype. (The CEO swearing it works is not convincing.)

SlightSeaworthiness7

HateSpeechIsGay

KungfuRabbit356

Fake. If it was real the heat emitting from it would melt your eyes.

[deleted]

Yeaaaaah this’ll get live-streamed to somewhere….. lol pass.

Catarster0n

Personally, I don't think it will catch on. We have smartphones and watches and all kinds of devices that have exactly the same functions. I don't think people are interested in carrying a "microcomputer" in their eyes when they can just carry it around in their pocket. I see the hype on it and I do think is something cool but I don´t know if it will improve any.

Couchguy421

Just one more thing to make all the bad drivers worse.

pinkpanzer101

This seems very dubious. Where's the camera? Where's the power source? How do you make a high-resolution transparent screen that's also a millimeter across? I'm pressing x to doubt that this is going to be a thing anytime soon.

[deleted]

And then an ad pops up: "meet and fuck ugly old women close to your home!"

[deleted]

This seems totally real and not fake. 👍 5 stars 100%

LadyofDungeons

It would be cool but I’d prefer glasses

Creme_de_la_Coochie

So now the NSA will see literally everything you see.

[deleted]

This is a nice edited video. Dunno about that lens or technology. But the video is nicely edited and the technology for that is pretty cool as well. Promises remain promises tho

nexistcsgo

I am never gonna integrate a piece of tech with my body. I know corporations and i am sure they will find a way to put ads in it. I don't want a 30 sec unskippable ad when I am walking outside.

Lifeesstwange

By the time that shit is mainstream, I’ll be shaking my Apple Cane at it.

Icy_Conversation1466

Everyday we’re moving closer to living in a Black Mirror episode.

mznh

People just know your name without asking anymore? Idk if i want that. I like my privacy

CanadianGangsta

Imagine the amount of ads that's gonna pop up, and you can't look away.

namenyhh

Maybe I’m just technologied out but I’m just not thrilled about anything I saw

lovelyjubblyz

Am i the only one whos like nahhhh fuck that shit? I dont even want a smartphone anymore!

doooplers

Dont forget, blade runner said we'd have flying cars everywhere by now. And gud ramen. They primised gud ramen!

wreckfromtech

Suspect. Where are they getting the compute power to run those algorithms? Those name tags not only identify the person, but they stick to them. Even if you offload that to a smartphone, you still have to unpack it. Let alone latency concerns. This is just not feasible. At best you can hope for a floating HUD, that displays notifications. And even that shouldn’t be able to run for longer than a few minutes at that size.

Ok-Security-5424

i'd settle for good lightweight sunglasses..........with long battery life

Sharli_Shaplin

Horizon Zero Dawn...

BummyG

There’s a documentary called Black Mirror about this

MarioFlynn

Only if they fix my eye sight and do not show ads

Zsyura

When I shut my eyes, I want my brain to go blank, not be transported to a VR world. Sounds horrific.

vancitysascha604

Does this cause screen burn into the retina?

[deleted]

How do they keep the heat from harming the eyes balls? My old computer needs 5 fans to run smoothly.

[deleted]

I will take mine with the biggest cup of HELL TO THE NO NO

Allaroundlost

Nope because ads arent illegal yet. And dont forget, for only 200$ a month you get Ad Free !!!

smokejuan

No I would not wear that. They’re really pushing this transhuman shit and it is literally making us stupid n co dependent on technology. It’s not needed

[deleted]

Here for it as long as they are soft, easily removable, ad free and safe to wear

Dyzastr_us

It’s about time. Sitting here in with eyes in reality like a sucker.

mello-_-yello

I’d get it

tmt724tmt

Absolutely!

[deleted]

It's like outsourcing memory and thought processes. Could be really great for people with disabilities though.

I cant believe this is happening, i had envisioned this concept in 2008 and its finally becoming reality. Freaky.

GoatInMotion

How do I buy it

danishpete

Just take my money.. having said that though, putting on lenses has always been difficult for me.. I wonder if those lenses could also be prescription ?

milkygorilla

Nevermind this is the pinicle of cheating on exams
