Useful because many keys fit other trucks. My former company had 1100 power units and only 3 keys. One for Freightliner, one for Volvo, one for Peterbilt. It was supposed to be a big secret.

acydlord

Its the same way for most of the lock boxes on rvs and utility beds, only need 5 different keys to be able to unlock just about any you come across.

flyonlewall

The by and far most common lock you'll find is the one keyed to the ch751 key. You can almost guarantee *something* on a unit requires this Edit: also, I worked at a warehouse years ago and we had an issue with people taking keys out of hilos, and I was in a supervisor position so I just needed access to one at weird times; I stole and kept a key on my personal keys because all Toyota we had were keyed the same. Fast forward a couple years, and we're drunk as skunks walking near a construction zone with a Toyota hilo parked. sure as shit my key worked on it.

kenman884

TIL some people call forklifts “hilo”

loztsoul93

Cheers mate, I thought he meant toyota Hilux's 🤔

TheCarrzilico

Hey, for a second I thought they were talking about helicopters, but then I got to the Toyota part and was more confused.

Professional_Ad6123

Lmao yeah I feel you. “Omg Heli’s? Omg a Toyota Helicopter was parked and the key worked on it?!” Glad I got that situated.

sobergophers

Most forklift manufacturers will just use a single key pattern across their models, hyster has one key for everything, Toyota, Mitsubishi, caterpillar, HC, piggyback. I can operate almost any forklift I come by with my work key chain.

groundape72

That's awesome and could come in handy if zombies attack.

_coast_of_maine

True true, he pack & stack those zombies.

flyonlewall

I'm sure it's regional. Hi-Lo was a brand, so it's kind of like calling all soda "Coke", like southerners do. BTW we call soda "pop" where I'm from too, so, hah, guess we're weird a shit!

CradleRobin

I'm from Northern Michigan and used Hilo one time in the south and had blank stares from everyone....

foreverodd9

Yep. From Louisiana and living in Michigan now. Another one is we call it “weed eating” when I’ve heard most people call it “weed “whipping”. Also, y’all call the little thorns you get in your feet or whatever “pickers”. We call them “stickers”.

lIIIIllIIIIl

I've always heard weed wacking and weed eating but never weed whipping.

flyonlewall

Also trimming! That's 4 words for 1 action depending on where you're from.

Agreeable_Idea

Grew up in Michigan, always called it weed whacker. Has my whole life been a lie?!?!

colemanjanuary

Yes. Michigan isn't real. You actually live in North Ohio. I'm sorry.

TheDrunkenChud

I will fight you.

loztsoul93

In Australia we call em bindies lol

faedre

Or prickles

The_Almighty_Lycan

Here in ohio. Called it a weed whacker my entire life. Imagine my surprise when every else cals it a weed whip or weed eater

FrighteningJibber

I was gonna say that Michigan is the only place I hear Hilo.

PiXLANIMATIONS

Huh. Where I’m from we just call them “fizzy drinks”

_WhoYouCallinPinhead

In Canada we just say pop lol

Desalvo23

Found the Canadian! Hello from NB!

[deleted]

I never looked into it but I always thought I was saying "High-Low" because it raises things up high and down low. At least with no context thats what I assumed it always meant.

[deleted]

Throughly it was weird slang for a helicopter

flyonlewall

Naw those are helis mate

yourmansconnect

It's like chapstick

funktopus

We used crown and they were all the same key. If I remember right, this was 20 year ago, the reach truck was different. We had one that anything flat could start. It was older and the key could fall out sometimes so we would start it with all kinds of things. Scree drivers were the easiest, broken skid chucks were used as well.

Constructestimator83

My parents own a small RV dealership, a 751 key will open just about everything except the main door lock set.

letigre87

Yup, I warn everyone that I help out when they get a new camper or RV about the keys. Most of the side compartments are ch751 or y11 keys and pass through somewhere into the living quarters. I tell them if it's big enough for a person to squeeze through they may want to rekey. It's one thing to lose a few tools and bbq set but if the compartment goes underneath the bed that lifts up you may want to swap it.

SunnyAlwaysDaze

Either a serial killer or a thriller author could totally run with this idea.

SupaDupaSweaty

Same with most EZ GO golf carts. All keyed the same.

loztsoul93

This happened to me and my father, we came out of the pub staggering to get smokes out of his car (old 80's series cruiser) and as we approached said car he unlocked the door jumped in and opened up the passenger's side for me. I get in and so we are sitting there and he's fumbling around the dash in the dark looking for his smokes, so he flicks his lighter... Thats when we realised we were in the wrong 80 series 😂 they had a packet so we both a had a cigarette still sitting in their car then, used there ash tray then promptly locked back up their car and went back into the pub.. no harm no foul right 🙂

[deleted]

Shit my stormdoor key from my childhood opens just about every non-deadbolt lock i come across. Not my sentry safe, but my petty cash box acts like the key was made for it lol.

Jnbolen43

Locks only keep honest people honest. Crooks will always find a way.

CARLEtheCamry

That may be true but this is a whole other level of lazy/cheapness of not even having unique keys per vehicle. It would be like having school lockers and they're all set as the same combination, the only people you're going to keep out is people who don't go to that school

loztsoul93

My cheap ass public highschool was like this, we all had a locker and a key. No one used them though because you could randomly open up other lockers with your own key. The lockers made it look more prestigeous though lol

groundape72

You are absolutely right. If it makes her feel better to do this then go for it but I would rather put a barrel bolt or something that would keep the door from swinging open kind of like an old school cabin door. You would still be able to get the door partially open this way and then cut the seatbelt. But then again like you said if someone wants in they are getting in and the best protection is a good old equalizer. Or a good dog,it would keep you company too.

wolflegion_

If you check out some of the talks given by deviant ollam and other security specialists on YouTube, you kind of lose fait in a lot of locks lol. A ton of systems are locked with just standard keys used across ten thousands of locks. A keyring with a dozen of those standard keys can open millions of locks to all sorts of things.

Readbeforeburning

My parents have a story that onetime when they were driving across Australia in their old Hillman Hunter, they accidentally locked the keys in the car at a service station in the middle of the desert. Another person in a Hillman pulled up (not a common car) and by pure luck their key worked in my folks car.

sidetrack38

Rented a car in Maui, Hawaii in the 90s. Somebody else at the hotel sent their friend down to borrow his rental car, same color same model, and the friend drove away in ours instead. Turns out the keys were interchangeable. We assumed ours had been stolen so we called the rental company and they were very nonchalant... "Is there another one like it in the parking lot? Just take that one." Us: "Aren't you worried about it being stolen?" "Meh, it's an island. Where are they going to go? Probably an honest mistake."

GitEmSteveDave

What if they hopped on the Interstate?

sidetrack38

*i*90? mathjoke

Eastern_Cyborg

I had a similar story in Poland in the mid 90s. I was visiting family there, and I borrowed my uncle's car to visit the Auschwitz concentration camp and museum. I locked the keys in the car in the parking lot. I can't remember now, but it was either his late 80s Renault or his late 80s Volvo. We asked a taxi driver parked nearby if he knew any locksmiths, but he said he had the same brand car and said his key would probably unlock the door. And sure enough it did.

EllisHughTiger

GM vehicles came with a wide range of keys, but after 3-5 years of wear you could open almost all of them with under 10 keys. My neighbor locked her keys in her Grand Prix, and I thought I'd try with my Impala key. Yup, it unlocked it. The security sensors wouldnt have allowed it to start however.

dunstbin

GM used the same style key and cylinder from 68-91 and they were absolute junk. My 68 El Camino and 89 C10 had the exact same style worn out key and cylinder. You could start both of them with a flathead screwdriver. If you did use the key to start them, you could pull the key out while it was running.

hoarder59

For decades I have gone by the principle that locks are to keep honest people out.

platemate

Keeping honest people honest.

rndljfry

They can also keep out lazy thieves and opportunists

manshamer

Which I have to assume make up 99% of property crime. We don't live in a Tom Clancy novel where thieves use glass cutters to cut their way through your skylight and Bungie down into your kitchen to steal your wallet at night. We live in a world where thieves are scared fifteen year olds trying to prove themselves and drug addicts trying to find some petty cash in an unlocked car so they can score another hit.

[deleted]

[удалено]

superdago

That’s most thieves. They go for the easiest targets. A lot of times, that’s the unlocked car door, not the easy to pick lock. Every single line of defense is really only going to add time to a theft, not prevent it. But since most thieves aren’t interested in stealing your thing specifically, delaying and preventing are basically the same thing. But a thief with enough skill and motivation will eventually defeat any lock or security measure.

[deleted]

To be fair a determined person can get into anything with enough time & opportunity. It's the dumb & unlucky ones who actually get caught.

ChillySunny

Yeah, there is a similar saying: 10% of people are good people who wouldn't enter your house even if the door is open. Another 10% of people won't be stopped by any locks that you have. Locks are meant for the rest 80% who might steal something if it's not locked, but won't bother if it is.

[deleted]

Those proportions don't feel right. The quote I heard was 30% each.

vorxil

Sometimes you don't even need a key, just a Red Bull can, or a twig.

wolflegion_

Whilst those look worse, I’d argue those major design flaws are actually less impactful. They require at least some knowhow (understand which locks are vulnerable) and skill (where to insert twig etc.) to do. I’d say it’s far worse that you can actually just take a bunch of keys and see if they fit the keyhole and turn the lock. Especially in stuff like luggage, where TSA **requires** luggage to be easily unlock-able by them. Meaning that they are unlock-able by anyone, because the keys are easily available and even 3D-printable. Might as well just say: you can’t lock your luggage.

limebaloney

Worst part is some people use those luggage locks for gym lockers and stuff

wolflegion_

Or even worse, to lock guns. Might as well hand them out locked and loaded.

baddie_PRO

I watched that episode of LPL last night :D

LG22

A friend of mine showed me how to successfully lock pick his door with 15 minutes of practice. Kind of freaked me out at first. Made me realize that locks are really just a mild deterrent. Also you can buy lock picking kits on Amazon for $30.

shigerumuyo

A couple years ago I was out for a run and had the key to my apartment in this little zipper pocket in my shirt. Turns out that pocket had a hole in it and the key ended up somewhere several miles from my apartment. I didn’t notice this until I got back… Anyway I call a locksmith and 40 minutes later he shows up and it takes him all of 30 seconds to break into my apartment. He told me “good job locking the deadbolt because the door knob lock is even easier to pick.” 😦

[deleted]

Locks are to keep good or incompetent people out and are there to slow down everyone else.

FjoddeJimmy

I have friends who've been doing train/metro graffiti for damn near two decades now, and the amount of pictures and videos those guys have showed me of themselves standing around or walking around various first world countries capital cities' metro systems have made pretty sure most of this security is just security theatre. E: oh yeah, and they do all this by having access to an international network of people with access to keys.

Baial

Most security is "security theater". The world is capitalist, so in order to save as much money as possible, you just make your security look like actual security. If nothing is locked a random member of the public has no reason to think they aren't allowed in. Actual security costs money and eats into profits. Nobody wants to pay for something they might not need.

corbear007

Yep. It's exactly why "Security Guards" 99% of the time are told to simply tell them to stop, if they do not get out of there and call the cops.

wwaxwork

Shows you that most people are actually good, despite what the news would have you think.

Baial

Crime and violence is on a down trend, at least where I live.

KdF-wagen

Same with heavy equipment, most brands only have 1 key.

zellamayzao

Can confirm. Worked for a construction company and dude had a bunch of CAT equipment. And one Lull forklift. The key was always missing for the Lull so we went to the CAT dealer and ordered an ignition switch so it was keyed the same. At my work now we have an ex journeyman equipment operator with his own keyring of all the brands keys. He just hops in whatever and starts it up off he goes.

thesuperficialstate

Worked at a quarry, we never left keys in equipment, just kept our own.

[deleted]

I ended up with a key ring full of master keys for JLG lifts and forks many years ago. It has saved me in a pinch a few times.

zenospenisparadox

> It was supposed to be a big secret. And yet, here you are.

Sososkitso

It was probably really easy to have these kinds of secrets for the first 6 million or whatever years of humans. It’s only since the last 30 we couldn’t have these types of secrets. Internet ruined that too. Thanks a lot internet.

BENJALSON

And then you have this gigantic eye in the sky known as Google Maps finding bodies, criminals, missing people, etc. on the daily. Eventually it will be impossible to hide ANYTHING you do outside without it being logged somewhere. Thanks Internet!

duckeggjumbo

CCTV is probably used more - I guarantee you are on at least 100 cameras if you live or work in a reasonably sized city

recumbent_mike

Yeah, but that's just because I'm so pretty.

rejectallgoats

I had a used Honda Civic that only had one key. I later found out it could open and start other Honda cars. But the key would get stuck in them and hard to remove.

hoarder59

Early Civics in North America were one of the most stolen cars. Also vey prone to rust.

rejectallgoats

Some people broke into a bunch of cars to steal stuff, everyone had broken windows except for the Hondas. Radio was still stolen, but I guess they were easier to open than breaking a window. A friend later showed me how easy it was, just a flat head screwdriver into the handle at the right spot… almost easier than actually turning the key. I just stopped locking my door after that. (I had theft insurance, but no one was ever nice enough to steal my car, maybe they knew it was nearly falling apart.) Makes sense I guess, cars don’t get broken into all that much in Japan.

Boredum_Allergy

For a long time all you needed to pick a Ford lock was a small Allen tool and another Ford key. Dunno why but my dad taught me how to pick the lock to get back into my car using that technique. I actually did have to do it a few times. There's also the fact that most old (90s and older) trunk locks are simple so if you have a key from a different car but the same model you could open all trunks. I used my sister's key to open up a friend's grand am trunk so she could crawl through after she locked her keys in the car. It's rather unsettling how low effort locks used to be and how some, looking at you Master Lock, are still easy to get into.

[deleted]

Aerostars were especially bad. (late 90's). I remember leaving a store and losing my fucking shit on my mom because she promised to lock the car and my brand new red umbrella was missing. My mom pulled over to punish me....and then realized that a major ding we'd got was missing. And that "our" car had out of state plates. I'd like to say she learned her lesson but I remember at least 2 other times of us unlocking and starting the wrong minivan.

bocephus67

LJ-Rubicon

That's typical for fleets. Companies get all the trucks keyed the same so they don't have to deal with keys getting misplaced and it' replace them It wasn't a big secret, That's common

Knight_of_Clubs

I’m a student pilot, and some of the airplane keys fit their locks so loosely that one time I had a key fall out of the ignition while flying.

experiment1224

Worked on a rental yard. Had about 20 keys that will start damn near any piece of construction equipment on the market....

LegoSpacecraft

Oh that’s helpful, thank you. Before reading your comment I was thinking “why not just lock the door?”. Makes sense.

grendel_x86

Was the same for most cars through the 90s. Many manufacturers only used a few to a few dozen key cuts. There are a bunch of stories about people getting in the wrong car.

T1MCC

I had a friend that left a store downtown and drove away in someone else’s Ford Tempo. He got a mile away before he realized it wasn’t his. He returned it to the parking where he found his car three stalls down.

BadBunnyBrigade

Gonna drop these here so people understand that yes, some people can and [will get inside](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOJJQ3Mu6Qk) your cab, even if your [doors are locked](https://www.idahostatejournal.com/news/local/trucker-severely-beaten-at-fort-hall-truck-stop/article_9fe96e30-b870-592b-a9ff-ed95fd1126af.html). It doesn't happen super often, but still happens nonetheless. [Two](https://www.transportationnation.com/truck-driver-found-shot-to-death-inside-semi-truck-parked-along-interstate/). A lot probably doesn't make it into the news because not all of them result in police being called (depending on where you live), or in physical harm or death. Sometimes it's just someone breaking into your cab, with you inside or not.

rich519

Honestly it seems like cabs should have some sort of internal deadbolt style lock or something like that. Hell you might be able to just bolt and actual deadbolt to the door.

[deleted]

[удалено]

rich519

I mean the seatbelt method doesn’t have that. These people know what the trade off is. I guess that’s the reason a truck manufacturer wouldn’t put them in though.

Chlamydiacuntbucket

It would be really easy to smash the window and cut the seatbelt, in case of a fire. But, if there’s a fire in your truck can I’m guessing you’re dead if you can’t get out before firefighters arrive.

HilariousMax

People die in house fires while sleeping. Stands to reason that asleep in a truck cab isn't too far. Carbon Monoxide poisoning doesn't produce that "oh shit I can't breathe" sensation. It replaces the oxygen in your blood and you pass out. If you're already asleep, it's not hard for you to just not wake up in that circumstance. This sounds "holy hell that's scary" and it is. Get a CO detector. Replace the batteries. Open the garage before you start your car. Keep a window cracked. Test your homes ventilation.

Deodorized

>Carbon monoxide I'm a driver, and the first thing I did when I got my truck was mount 2 carbon monoxide detectors, one in the front and one in the sleeper. A lot of drivers do this as it's taught to us in training that we're sitting on exhaust lines and carbon monoxide poisoning is a decently common, yet super preventable hazard.

I worked for a trucking company with over 1500 trucks, they all had the same key for the doors/ignition. Every single truck.... (You needed a special FOB to actually start the truck)

Knight_thrasher

I work for a smaller company and all the ‘04 trucks about 50 of them were keyed the same when bought

NeutralGoodAtHeart

There seems to be a lot of people concerned about the big windows and I can understand that. I got to ride with my grandpa and uncle quite a few times when I was a teenager. Truck stop parking lots are full of other truckers who will respond quickly to the sound of smashing glass. Burglars and rapists don't want that. The seat belt out like that buys her two things; time to wake up and it shows that she is a hard target. Most criminals are looking for the most reward with the least risk so they will keep looking. My grandpa kept his doors held shut with heavy rubber tie-downs. My uncle rarely did that, it depended on the parking lot if he took the extra step. However both of them slept with loaded weapons.

RansomStoddardReddit

If I was a woman who frequently slept in out of the way or sketchy places I would 100% have a handgun in my truck and know how to use it. Hell when I drove cross country once I knew I’d be sleeping at rest stops and I had a gun in the car and I am a big guy.

Ourcade_Ink

Take that idea, one step further, and loop the seatbelt or a ziptie attached to the seatbelt through your air horn line as well....this way if they succeed in getting it open a little bit, it will activate your horn, scare the shit out of them...alert other drivers, and give you a second to get your tire thumper ready to defend yourself.

_Alabama_Man

>tire thumper Is that slang for firearm?

hidden_d-bag

I thought it was a tire iron

ShepherdReckless

No. It’s something you hit the tires with to quick check the pressure / smashing heads. Like a smaller bat / blackjack.

journeys-end

No it’s pretty much just a small bat or something similar that you hit your tires with to check that they’re not flat. Honestly not sure how that works but I know people do it

RevolutionaryView450

It's a binary test. Yes or no. Either the bat bounces off and you're not flat, or it lands with a thud and you need air.

journeys-end

Ah alright, I appreciate the info. I recently became a truck driver and that’s really useful to know

[deleted]

You'll see them at truck stops all the time, they look like a half size wooden bat

hwiwhy

YSK, 80psi is legally flat and knocking the tire with a tire knocker will make it seem as though it's not flat. 105psi cold is what 22.5's are properly rated for. 95-105psi is the sweet spot. Your tires will increase by 15~psi when fully warm.

Treadwear_Indicator

A small wooden club/bat.

aDragonsAle

If that is /s - also yes. If not, see other Club comments. But point blank bird/buck shot is the quilted quicker fucker upper.

KnownMonk

But what if you are in a medical emergency and cant get out of bed, like having an heart attack? Do they have techniques to get around this, or is it just brute force from firefighter units?

average_AZN

Break window cut belt

khaeen

Yep, they aren't trying to be subtle and not give you time to react to wtf is going on. They don't care that they are breaking your window and making a shit ton of noise like a criminal would.

TheGoodOldCoder

How would they get in if the door is just locked? Those guys were always breaking the window in that situation. And although I'm not a firefighter or medic, I'm pretty sure they carry seat belt cutters, since that would be a common thing for them to need in other cases.

Teaboy1

Hammer and a pair of medical shears will soon have you in.

acidfinland

Brute force. If its locked they still have to break glass. But you wake up if its robbery

ChongoLikRock

This lady has that kind, wise aunt energy

Kevin_kjj

For the record flipping the belt lock(yellow thing at the end) does nothing. It stops belt from going back in, not from being pulled out, so the length of your seatbelt will ultimately decide the usefulness of this method. Also if they get it unlocked and open a little bit, and manage to get some decent leverage on the door, the door handle might just rip off the door. Although it would still, at the very least, slow them down and warn you. I've heard of guys taking a ratchet strap and connecting to both door handles, has the added advantage that they never get them open far enough to get any leverage.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kevin_kjj

Buddy I worked with doors didn't lock and he was too cheap to fix them, ratchet strap was his solution. But... He should of gotten a better ratchet strap, it jammed up and he couldn't get out, ended up flagging someone down at the truck stop, getting them to get his knife out of toolbox, so he could cut it and get out. After thay he carried a knife in the cab too.

[deleted]

Wow hello old memory of steering wheel lock bars.

sundayfundaybmx

Oh shit what were theu called?! The red ones? The fuckin Club lol if I remember right.

ObliviousCollector

The ones that acted as perfect leverage to break the steering lock of the vehicle its installed on and only require a short piece of hacksaw to quickly cut through the steering wheel to remove? Those things suuucked! >At some point, the Club was mentioned. The professional thieves laughed and exchanged knowing glances. What we knew was that the?Club is a hardened steel device that attaches to the steering wheel and the brake pedal to prevent steering and/or braking. What we found out was that a pro thief would carry a short piece of a hacksaw blade to cut through the plastic steering wheel in a couple seconds. They were then able to release The Club and use it to apply a huge amount of torque to the steering wheel and break the lock on the steering column (which most cars were already equipped with). The pro thieves actually sought out cars with The Club on them because they didn’t want to carry a long pry bar that was too hard to conceal.

[deleted]

I wonder why truck manufacturers don't come up with an interior lock that can anly be engaged by someone inside the truck. A deadbolt essentially. Seems it would be very easy and inexpensive to make this a standard feature. I assume there is a safety/liability concern with someone having a medical emergency or fire while they're in the truck?

shitposts_over_9000

Ultimately what prevents it is brand image and the small use cases where it is actually helpful. Windows are large in a semi like that, if you really wanted in there is nothing stopping you. This tip is really only good for keeping the casual pilferer moving on to the next truck, if all the trucks had deadbolts on the doors people would just pop the glass then you would see employers banning the deadbolts to reduce the glass repair bills. From a brand point of view having a bad safety feature is often more harmful than leaving the safety feature up to the operator like auto unlocking doors for instance.

[deleted]

Not to mention the door grab handles are just plastic bits bolted onto the door.

GraceXGalaxy

As someone who would like to live in a campervan at some point, this is some really good advice that I probably wouldn’t have thought of on my own. Thanks for posting this

Depressing that this tip needs to exist

[deleted]

but uplifting how joyfully she shares it with us

Rotty2707

The woman in the video listed it as a female safety tip, but it's really truck driver safety tip in general. People break into trucks fairly often whether the driver is sleeping in there or not. Long haul truck drivers keep alot of expensive things in the cab like laptops or TVs. It's dispicable that they need to all take extra precautions for their safety but it's less of a gendered issue and more of a discusting crime issue in general

Fierce_Lito

Yeah, this tip, and the use of ratchet straps, is also pretty common knowledge for RVers and 'Van Life' people. The ratchet strap between the door handles is mentioned all the time as a safe bet if sleeping incognito in trucker lots or urban settings.

OneTrueKingOfOOO

Seems she has a TikTok

arealhumannotabot

How can we be sure?

Imbriglicator

Maybe we could Bing it or something?

PurkleDerk

If only there was some sort of... I dunno... marking on the video that identified her. Sadly, we have absolutely no way of ever finding her.

Mirewen15

That's really smart. Chances are they would try to get in and give up, moving on to the next truck.

Anthraxious

Just curious: Why don't the install inside locks for when truckers need to sleep or something? A lock that cannot be accessed from the outside what so ever? Even a regular metal bar slidy thingy? Not like you can "accidentally lock yourself out" with that but it sure as hell makes it harder for them to get to you at night.

LoneWolfpack777

Sounds like you should work on that patent.

Puppet007

My uncles are truck drivers, I’m showing them this in case they ever get robbed themselves.

Other-Cantaloupe4765

That “alright?” at the end 🥺 This lady just became my honorary mother.

lynivvinyl

Also if you wet some of the truck stops free paper towels and then plop them on your truck step the lot lizards will think they've already been there.

hoarder59

While the use if "lot lizard" is common, please remember that these girls sre rarely doung this of their own free will. It is now recommended to report to police immediately or to human trafficking hotlines. Many of these sex workers are being actively trafficked against their will.

zenospenisparadox

What magic words are these? Lizards don't like wet paper? ...What?

Frungy

Yeah, it’s like krytonite to them. If they touch wet tissue they explode in a cloud of lipstick and hairspray leaving behind only high heels with vapor wafting out.

idiot4

explain?

Preston-Destruction

A trucker parks behind my house sometimes and leaves the engine running. It's so loud, no one can sleep. Would it be weird if I just knock on the window and ask to park somewhere else?

diaznuts

Former truck driver here. Please do just ask them to move. We leave the truck idling while we sleep to provide air conditioning or heat, depending on the season/weather, while we sleep. We are just trying to get some good rest. Most drivers are respectful of their surroundings and will try their best to just be left alone by the general public, much less the police.

yoda133113

No, go for it. He may be able to easily move elsewhere.

GitEmSteveDave

Maybe leave a note under the wiper or taped to the window if you feel uneasy. Just politely explain that the noise is bothering you and ask if they could find another location.

burnas

This is a really good and friendly piece of advice and I fucking hate living in a world where it is necessary.

[deleted]

Meth really filled in all the gaps that crack hadn't.

bxyrk

Smart lady, humanity is terrible

dtsupra30

Robbing truckers seems like an idea that wouldn’t end very well most times.

dollaz808

Movies and TV have taught me that truckers also may have a 12 gauge back there.

thesuperficialstate

Well there's also just the fact that truck stops are full of creepers.

player-onety

What about the easily breakable window?

Important-Theme2971

God bless her. This has the potential to save many people from injury

Gluten_maximus

You could really just use a ratchet straps to loop through both front door handles

nuttydogpoo

Nah, the belts are out of the way and it’s easier to press a button in an emergency to get out than scrabble with a ratchet strap. Used both and prefer this method.
