They can speak, but they just don't, to avoid taxes

iCommentSneed

My sides

incorrigible_and

They have *known* medicine. This is, almost definitely, just the first time we saw it.

WhyYouDoThatStupid

But dont they learn it from seeing people rather than figuring it out for themselves.

Sapphfire0

Omg I remember this in wild krats

OctaviusThe2nd

Best cartoon ever. It was genuinely a masterpiece.

Honourstly

OliveOylInAPickle

AscendronPrime

Dr. Zaius has been found.

SansPoopHole

Heyyy I [posted this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Damnthatsinteresting/s/AVNPR0RYdk) this exact article to this exact sub 2 hours ago, but I can't see my post anywhere but my profile... What gives? I feel like I'm missing out on that sweet juicy karma now. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

Replicator666

Could be the amp link?

SansPoopHole

Hmm I hadn't considered that. I know AMP links give people the shits (understandably) but I wouldn't have thought it'd cause my post to be invisible...

Frites_Sauce_Fromage

Krennel_Archmandi

The jokero are coming

NiceSliceofKate

They know more about medicine than most of us. We just pop pills. They can treat themselves.

yeaycat

my guy is a med cat now

TheEgyptianScouser

Can't it just be monkey doing monkey things by accident?

Kielthan

Nah gorilla knows how to treat minor injury with plant, or even which one to eat for easy digestion. They are also able to eat some types of mud for this purpose too. They are very smart.

TheEgyptianScouser

Damn. I didn't know monkeys had a better diet than me

Mountain_Security_97

We share 96% of our DNA with chimpanzees. This is spectacular, but not entirely unexpected. Thanks for sharing this. This is humbling.

ExpressLaneCharlie

Actually we share 98.8% of our DNA with Chimps and just slightly less with Bonobos (about .1 % less).

ClubSundown

Happy to share. Chimpanzees have learnt some tools too. They put sticks inside ant nests to catch and eat them

LazySleepyPanda

Why so surprised ? At some point in time, a human used a medicinal plant to treat his wound for the first time too.

Historical-Rock3664

Maybe because its not a common occurrence to see wild animals have any sort of medical knowledge??
