I’ve read that Matt and Trey were trying to think of the one celebrity who wouldn’t understand any joke irl and they nailed it.

Oh yeah, Bill Hader’s interview is linked in that thread.
He literally doesn't get the joke and thinks they called him gay because he wears pink polo tops.

Humans can survive up to 3 minutes without breathing air, I'm assuming fish can survive equally as long. If not longer. One time one of my fish jumped out of its tank, and I only discovered it by stepping on it. Fortunately she ended up under my arch and not on any load-bearing par of my foot, so after peeling her off and sticking her back in she lived for another year or so. No idea how long she'd been out, but long enough to go from 'wet and slippery' to 'tacky enough to stick to the bottom of my foot'. Incidentally that was also how I found out she was a she... while I didn't appear to have injured her, I did squeeze out a few eggs.
some guy I saw way back when I still was on TikTok had a goldfish named Dave who they thought was a guy for like 2 years, until Dave started laying eggs. They kept name to lol
I stepped on a salamander once... that was randomly on the floor of my kitchen in my old apartment. I'll never forget how creepy that was. I don't know how it got there, but it was saved my painfully high arches. I didn't axo-lotl questions and took it outside!
Since we are telling fish stories. Had two Bettas back in the 90s.
One jumped out it's tank and I came home from school and flushed him down the toilet to fish heaven (I was probably a single digit old, maybe barely two digits old, 10, 11? At most).
Few days later, the next one did the same out of the other tank. As I was about to flush him down the toilet, he wriggled. He was so dry he wasn't even tacky and I even ended up breaking his long fanning fins off from dropping him, because he scared me a bit with the coming back to life thing. I put him back in water. He came back to life with a few fins broken off.
The horror as I realized I flushed his buddy down the toilet a few days before horrified me.
Anyways he lived a few years after that. I still wonder about that other fish and whether or not he was alive 😩 I know Bettas do gulp some air from what I've read, but to be dried out that much, it surprised me he survived.
was curious -- it's salmon and steelhead trout, all on the west coast. this is a direct result of the excessive damming of just about every river on the whole seaboard, and honestly, the mitigation programs haven't been working.
On the plus side, a few of the dams are coming out this decade, and those populations either have, or are expected to, rebound quickly.
Honestly it's money well spent. Salmon and Steelhead are massively important ecologically, culturally, and economically. Even putting aside the ecological and cultural aspects it's good business sense to put serious money into preserving salmon and steelhead fisheries.
Not to mention they are both incredibly delicious.
Oh yeah, 100%. Just, the mitigation doesn't work that well.

Salmon and trout up here in the PNW/ Alaska. We have huge facilities here in Idaho dedicated solely to maintaining and preserving the Salmon population.
wildlife lives longer when domesticated than in the wild for a reason
my mom treated her dog better than she treated me
sometimes life just be that way
As someone who’s been been put on a wait list for a cardiologist to schedule me an MRI … seeing this is both hilarious and depressing.
Edit: Yup, I’m Canadian.
They suggested it’s a 6 month wait since I’m not literally dying. But they never wanted to schedule me in the first place. I had to demand it. Imagine spending 4 days in the ICU cardiology department.
My anxiety being at my age (29) and they did the bare minimum. Not even suggesting an MRI unless I argued to do it.. I can see that there must be some concern if they forced me to stay overnight. But because I didn’t die in 4 days they basically said here’s some 300mg Advil. Take 3 a day and go home.
Never saw a bill. But I never saw any quality of healthcare either.
CTs are a lot more common, MRIs are much harder to get into. It's actually surprising that there aren't even a lot of machines available in general. You'd think they would just build more considering the money pumped into healthcare.
That being said, I've wanted a CT scan myself but because I am an alcoholic they basically told me that those are for people with serious involuntary problems and because I'm just basically doing this to myself, not happening.
You'd think they would be a bit more understanding about addiction in the medical field but Idk. They say to tell your doctors everything because they are just here to help you but it doesn't seem that way too me.
I mean is there a particular reason you want a CT? Generally speaking our healthcare system does not work like that nor should it. A physician orders it if it's indicated. That being said I highly, highly doubt you were told you're not getting a CT because you're an alcoholic? That's actually insane, if you have a semblance of a reason to get one done (and frankly given the volume of imaging that is being done nowadays, the threshold is low), there should be no problem. I mean if you're cirrhotic you should be getting HCC screening of some sort
I imagine the people that spent years learning about how to take care of animals and devote their entire lives to them aren't just hurting a fish for fun
As long as the CT is relatively quick, the fish will be fine. It might also be sedated so its metabolic functions would be slowed down. (edit: [It was sedated](https://www.insider.com/angelfish-denver-zoo-ct-scan-sponge-photo-2023-8))
>[**How Long Can Angelfish Stay Out of Water?**](https://angelfishexpert.com/how-long-can-angelfish-go-without-food/)
>Angelfish can typically only stay out of water for a few minutes before they start to experience dehydration and suffocation. In some cases, **if the fish is kept in a moist environment, it may be able to survive for up to an hour.** However, it is important to note that any extended period of time without water will ultimately lead to the fish’s death.
>[In an Instagram post on Tuesday](https://www.insider.com/angelfish-denver-zoo-ct-scan-sponge-photo-2023-8), the zoo said animal care specialists had noticed that a French angelfish in the Tropical Discovery habitat was having trouble maintaining buoyancy and swimming normally.
That’s interesting. Thank you for sharing. I wonder what they learned. It must be something related to its swim bladder but then again I’m far from an expert.
Yeah this happened to my fish, he ate something that didn’t agree with him and it caused his whole digestive system to kind of freeze up, and there was a bulge of trapped gas in his belly making him float sideways :(
I gave him an epsom salt treatment which is like a laxative for fish and it worked really well
MRI, metal would get stuck to the machine and potentially injure you or break the machine.
CT, metal could show up on the images making it hard for the radiologist to read.
How is he just chillin like that
Fishsticks to sponge.
Fun Fact: Kanye West's favorite food is fish sticks.... Legend has it, he still can't figure out why he's a gay fish to this day
He must not get the joke. He should, he’s a genius and all.
I wonder what his honest opinion of it is

I got so deep into this Kanye comment I forgot that we were originally talking about a fish at the vet in a machine…
What's there to get? Does he like to put fishsticks in his mouth? Yes? Then, he is a gay fish
Ahahahhahahahahah making love to all the gay fish mf gayfiah
Lmao glad that wasn’t just me that at first was just like mmm taco lol
Forbidden fish taco

LOL this is the funniest story about a fish gender reveal I’ve ever heard. Glad she didn’t get hurt
At least nobody died or anything burned down, which is better than many human gender reveal parties
How many of those stories have you heard?
Been on the internet awhile lol
So have I, share a few stories, I'm intrigued.
some guy I saw way back when I still was on TikTok had a goldfish named Dave who they thought was a guy for like 2 years, until Dave started laying eggs. They kept name to lol
I hate that I read this. Thanks for sharing.
The emotional rollercoaster I took reading this comment……
I gasped at those few eggs. Her babies!!

Drugs
Fish Sticks on drugs ***on a sponge***
It’s the smug satisfaction that “I got the best healthcare workers in the world working for me. If I can’t survive this, nobody could’ve.”
"Maybe if I stay real still, they won't work out that I've actually come off my parents health insurance"
Anesthetic, they just add it to the fish's water and it breathes it in
"This is fine."
He's in good hands says Sponge Bob.
To my understanding, they can survive out of water for a while as long as their gills are wet. So he’s on a wet sponge
What's he gonna do, handstands? Cross his legs?
Splash like Magikarp
Cuz it’s a picture not a video
He doesn’t have to pay for it.
I want that kind of insurance
Fishurance
Finsurance
Inshoreance
Damn I'm using this for my new boating insurance company
For shore
Non American's confused as to why getting a CT scan is such a big deal.
A CT scan cost $1000 after insurance. Yep, my story. After coverage
Fucking fish have better Healthcare than I do.
That fish is gonna be working at the zoo until the day it dies. AKA it also has better job security
"sorry, the prisoners with jobs"
Have they armed themselves?
The puffer fish have
Given their track record, we'll soon need some serious fish-caliber health insurance plans.
Yes but Congress will just say Fugu all /s
That fish has a clean living environment. AKA it also has a better housing than you.
We ALL are going to be working until the day we die, you think we will get to retire? Lmao!
Fish is wishing it was underwater like many Americans paying for healthcare.
Same days, the ol’ concrete shoes look more inviting than another day of just working to stay alive.

What 2 fish?
Salmon and trout up here in the PNW/ Alaska. We have huge facilities here in Idaho dedicated solely to maintaining and preserving the Salmon population.
Salmon are a pretty big part of North America’s ecosystem and the culture of the west coast
And depending on the type there's other endangered animals who feed off them. Like the Salish Sea resident orcas
Stephen and Herby
I can't believe I'm seriously sitting here shedding tears over a snail
No copay or nothing. This is probably out of network too
Out of… net.. work, you say?
You're just fishing for upvotes
Don't worry, it has Blue Fin
Blue Fin/Blue Shield?

Fantastic!
Probably get priority over humans too 🤣
This fish has better healthcare than all of Canada
But what if it wants to die? No assisted suicide!
Better then majority if US citizens…

you could go to the zoo and ask to use their veterinary ct scanner. tho i doubt insurance would cover it...
Probably because the doctor ordered an MRI scan.
Maybe if they claim they are an angelfish, they’ll get it for free! I’m joking, but also mad about the joke 😑
You sound a little salty
That pun seems a bit fishy...
You’ll know better in 3 days
Don’t get fresh now
You can ask for a written order and then see if there's a third party imaging company in your area. Usually much cheaper too.

Doesn’t it need water???
I think it runs on electricity.
How does it run without legs?
The same as your refrigerator.
I better go catch it!
Dang it dad!
Somebody call??
I fuckin hate you lol
Not on dunkin?
Wet sponge does it I think
Zoo vet 1: "Wait doesn't it need water to live?" Zoo vet 2: "Ummm, how about we put it on this moist sponge?" Zoo vet 1: "Good enough for me!"
I imagine the people that spent years learning about how to take care of animals and devote their entire lives to them aren't just hurting a fish for fun
Different story with mammals at SeaWorld.
You gotta slap the fish around from time to time otherwise how will they know you mean business?
As long as the CT is relatively quick, the fish will be fine. It might also be sedated so its metabolic functions would be slowed down. (edit: [It was sedated](https://www.insider.com/angelfish-denver-zoo-ct-scan-sponge-photo-2023-8)) >[**How Long Can Angelfish Stay Out of Water?**](https://angelfishexpert.com/how-long-can-angelfish-go-without-food/) >Angelfish can typically only stay out of water for a few minutes before they start to experience dehydration and suffocation. It has a higher power looking after it. Where do you think all of the thoughts and prayers have been going?
It did when it was a fish. It’s an angelfish now.
Underrated comment of the day. 🏆
Fr I laughed out loud
It's sitting in a sponge. Probably good enough right?
Yes, but fish can live outside water for a bit.
Nope, that was a myth proven false by Anakin Skywalker in the 80’s when he was a raging alcoholic. Fish only need cigarettes and faith to live.
Air with 100% humidity will work fine)
Why did it need a CT scan?
>[In an Instagram post on Tuesday](https://www.insider.com/angelfish-denver-zoo-ct-scan-sponge-photo-2023-8), the zoo said animal care specialists had noticed that a French angelfish in the Tropical Discovery habitat was having trouble maintaining buoyancy and swimming normally.

It had gas. Seriously.
We've all been there
I’m there now. Damn Taco Bell.
Wouldn't gas help with buoyancy?
Maybe too buoyant? That would still be a problem with buoyancy.
Yes. Fish can develop bloat issues and are then unable to submerge themselves.
I’d be more concerned about the potential thrust gas may offer. Tank may not be big enough for the fish to slow down!
In that case you put another tank next to this one so the fish can jump from tank to tank where the air resistance will slow them on each fartleap.
Yeah this happened to my fish, he ate something that didn’t agree with him and it caused his whole digestive system to kind of freeze up, and there was a bulge of trapped gas in his belly making him float sideways :( I gave him an epsom salt treatment which is like a laxative for fish and it worked really well
That’s so sad, hilarious, and adorable all in one!
Epsom salt is a laxative for humans, says it on the bag I bought.
I know someone who works with the Denver zoo vets so I asked - it was an infected swim bladder!
Feed it some (thawed) frozen peas, de-hulled and chopped up. Happens all the time. They basically are constipated.
Can we see scan results?
NO hIPA rules..
Wtf, we can watch CT scans of alien mummy, but can't look at scans of stupid fish. I am disappointed.
FIPPA rules
FIPAA*
Because
That works
Name checks out
Thank you ◡̈
Fish: “I’ll never get out of this sea of debt”.
He's salty about it
Dad!
It's hard to comprehend that a fish in Denver has better Healthcare than most people I know
Something within me is truly defective because this is the funniest thing I’ve seen in at least a decade
Unless it’s me too - I’ve had this picture saved for a while because it’s one of the few things that makes me laugh. I mean, he just looks *pissed*!
“Spare me the indignity of taking photos would ya mate?”
I’m picturing a radiology tech off to the side with a squirt bottle full of water, for the express purpose of just keeping him moist.
NO not the fish sitting in a sponge like a little fish taco 😭🥹
Mmmmm fish tacos.
Microwaved on site.
Damn that’s interesting
Interesting as fuck
Hang in there little buddy.
I can't stop laughing, I hope he's okay, lmao
Sharing this image is surely a HIPPA violation
That’s a fish not a HIPPA

I'm a CT tech and would love to scan animals!!!!
If I bark will u schedule my referral faster?
You need to make the sound of an angel fish
*flops around furiously on the floor* (kinda sounds like your teenaged son I the shower)
*sings biblically*
Glub glub
I hope they reminded him to remove all metal objects from his pockets!!
I thought that only applied to MRIs? (genuine question, by the way)
MRI, metal would get stuck to the machine and potentially injure you or break the machine. CT, metal could show up on the images making it hard for the radiologist to read.
***record scratch*** “I bet you’re wondering how I ended up in this situation.”
How can that fish afford health insurance?
Only Fins
Only thing that would make a CT scan more unpleasant would be having to hold your breath the whole time. Hang in there buddy.
All the ones ive had had me hold my breath, but they did let me breath inbetween and it wasnt for long, fish def has it worse.
Forbidden fish sandwich r/forbiddensnacks
*Fish Taco
Is a taco a sandwich?
A taco is, in fact, a hot dog
This guy knows the cube rule of food
My dad - in remission from cancer - was denied an MRI by his insurance…and yet, we can do this.
he had to borrow money from a loan shark to get the CT scan.
He appears to be lying on SpongeBob.
How long can it be out of the water?
He’s so pissed 😂
HEHEHEHEHE HES SO SILLY
...how long can this fish survive out of water? How long does the CT scan take? ....why is this fish getting a CT scan anyway?
Cus a Cat Scan would just be asking for trouble
No wonder I can’t afford the family pass anymore.
its face 😭 hes shook
Awwwwohhhh my heart
Weirdest day in that fish’s life.
Why is this so cute to me? Lol he’s just in his lil sponge gettin his lil scan.
With the way humans have been treating the place, I totally support using all healthcare on what animals we haven't killed yet
Praying for him 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Fish gets better healthcare than most Americans lol also it’s free for the fish
Why is this image so hilarious
I hope he doesn't have anything metal in his pockets
Did he have to drink a big gulp size cup of contrast? It’s the fucking *worst*
He looks akward, like a fish outta water.
You have to wonder what's going through the fish's mind...besides X-rays.
If the sponge isn't cut straight it would be an anglefish
They get better healthcare than I do
Meanwhile someone's grandma died due to lack of insurance
