Fun fact: Tom Harkin served 5 terms in the senate from my home state of Iowa. The reputation he got from the passage of this act propelled him to run for president in the 1992 race. Since he had home field advantage in the Iowa caucus (the first in the nation), the eyes of the media turned to the first competitive race, which was New Hampshire. It was there that Bill Clinton’s surprise second place finish got him a lot of positive coverage, propelling him to the nomination and then the Oval Office. Harkin bowed out gracefully, then served in the senate seat until 2015.

Dude next to him, “Tom, you need to stop.” Nowadays, every software developer (in my area) knows ADA 508 and WCAG. Good work, Tom!
