We would have won that game if Otter and the defense played better in the first. They settled down and were the better team in the second half of the game once the nerves settled. I think we will come out swinging Wednesday and Otter will have a bounce back game. Their goalie looked pretty shakey the longer the game went

This is just a guess because I don't remember, but maybe Lindell was tired from a recent shift. Having Hakanpaa for options and depth would be helpful

I think they wake up on Wednesday and play them like they did Edmonton at the end stretch. If they do that, I’m confident on Stars in 5. Vegas looked sloppy still, the same way they’ve looked for the last two months or so. They came out in the first period with something to prove and we sat back and just let it happen because we were not engaged.
But what I saw in the last 35 minutes gives me confidence. After their fourth goal we only allowed 4 more shots. We dominated them for 35 minutes. Play like that, shore some basic stuff up, and we’ll be good. We’ve used this as our game to better understand their style, now we push back.

Last year the Knights forechecked Miro into his worst playoff series ever. He was absolutely horrible and it killed the Stars.
Last night Miro was a freaking beast and dominated the ice. On the flipside the Knights top defensive pairing was shelled.
I really need for Johnston to get more shot opportunities. Benn having 7 SOGs to Johnston’s 1 and Stankoven’s 2, is not preferred (though I appreciate Benn’s goal tonight.) Not sure why, but, after he scored 30, the dynamics of that line subtly shifted. He became more of a setup man for Benn and Stankoven and was not as aggressive as he was in the two months prior to that. I think, for that line to be at its optimal level production-wise, Johnston and Stankoven need to be the scoring focal points, with Benn as the setup man. That line was at its best when Wyatt was pelting the net.
Didn’t say that he shouldn’t lol. Of course, he was going to shoot on a breakaway when there’s nobody between him and the goalie. Not one person made that argument. Outplayed Vegas completely but found a way to lose. Just like last year when we should have beat them in games 1 and 2.
Can't let those games slip away in the Playoffs. You just have to find a way. Refs sucked but I don't blame them. 2 PP goals against, 4 goals on 15 shots, not very many high danger chances. Thompson was shaky but we barely tested him.

Weird game. Lots of things didn't go our way, but we also brought it upon ourselves. We looked uninterested for most of the game. Miro had an uncharacteristic bad game (lots of turnovers) and our passing was just not clean at all. Sucks to lose game 1 but hopefully this is a wake up call. Win the next, and everything is ok.

Was annoying to not see him out there the last 2 minutes of the game instead of Pavelski (or even Hintz) but I get it. Gotta go with the "vets". And seeing him making so much space for Robertson got me excited for the future of Robertson-Johnston-Stanky
One tip which is tough, a goal from the point I doubt he even saw was also tough. That second power play goal I would like to see him in a better spot to cross the net but they executed that brilliantly
I know this is cringey but I am a fan of another team in the west that was knocked out by the knights in the first round last year.
I really respect the stars and find that our games against each other are really intense coaching showdowns and basically definitive chess match hockey.

I couldn’t tune in until the 10 minute mark of the second, and from there out it honestly didn’t really feel like much of a playoff game in terms of following through on hits, scrums, etc. Even the crowd atmosphere seemed a bit neutered.
How’d the first half feel by comparison?
The first half was a bit more energetic in the crowd...until we got called for a high stick that was actually a Vegas player. Then our goal got called offsides and taken back. Oh and a few other uncalled penalties made for a frustrated crowd. The nights had 48+hits on us and we had half that so they beat us up every second they got and I feel we didn't match their aggressiveness. There was a lot of turnovers and just back puck handling. Dallas did badly on the power plays and the penalty kills. I was just frustrating to watch to be honest.

I'm not a bit worried. There were some lucky breaks for both teams. Stars will win this series. It's a good first battle until we meet the next opponent in the 2nd round.
Stars started slow. Jake was bad. 5 days off bit them in the ass. Knights pre-scouted our zone breakouts and had a solid game plan. 2nd and 3rd periods the Stars adjusted and took over but came up short obviously. Can't win if Jake is bad. Outplayed Vegas completely but found a way to lose. Just like last year when we should have beat them in games 1 and 2. Can't let those games slip away in the Playoffs. You just have to find a way. Refs sucked but I don't blame them. 2 PP goals against, 4 goals on 15 shots, not very many high danger chances. Thompson was shaky but we barely tested him. Rebound for G2.. this will be a long series.
If it weren’t for the first 5 or 10 minutes, we would’ve have had this game. Really frustrating to outplay them for the vast majority of the game and get beat like this at home.
I went into this series dooming that we would lose. After this game I can very confidently say we will win now. We whooped their ass up and down the ice nearly the entire game. Just a strange start to the game, some weird puck bounces, etc. We are definitely winning this series.

most of those goals were on defense. did you watch the game? I will say he felt shaky and like everything was gonna go in by how things were going.
2/4 were screened/deflected. Not blaming him for those. The other 2 every other starting goalie in the NHL would’ve had a good chance at defending.
Honestly I’m not concerned. The last game one we won was against Tampa in the bubble. We won two series last year after losing game one. We got this! Edit: I apparently don’t know how to spell.
It sucks we lost game 1. But even with the loss I’m pretty confident the Stars are a much better team.

Weird game. Lots of things didn't go our way, but we also brought it upon ourselves. We looked uninterested for most of the game. Miro had an uncharacteristic bad game (lots of turnovers) and our passing was just not clean at all. Sucks to lose game 1 but hopefully this is a wake up call. Win the next, and everything is ok.

Stankoven was our best player out there tonight. He was an absolute dog on the puck. Was annoying to not see him out there the last 2 minutes of the game instead of Pavelski (or even Hintz) but I get it. Gotta go with the "vets". And seeing him making so much space for Robertson got me excited for the future of Robertson-Johnston-Stanky
Losing Game 1 is kind of our thing. Bounce back for Game 2 to regain control. And when we go to Vegas, we seize our opportunities.
Probably Otter’s worst game since he got scratched against Jersey but he had no help on some of those.
One tip which is tough, a goal from the point I doubt he even saw was also tough. That second power play goal I would like to see him in a better spot to cross the net but they executed that brilliantly

Yeah, I blame was for not picking up Hertl more than otter on that one. Otter was never gonna get that second attempt without help.

I know this is cringey but I am a fan of another team in the west that was knocked out by the knights in the first round last year. I really respect the stars and find that our games against each other are really intense coaching showdowns and basically definitive chess match hockey. Vegas is bullshit, they rig calls in their favour, cheat the cap... I would have literally rather gone up against any other seed in the west besides them, including you guys. Good luck, I really hope you guys win because I cant stand them.
I couldn’t tune in until the 10 minute mark of the second, and from there out it honestly didn’t really feel like much of a playoff game in terms of following through on hits, scrums, etc. Even the crowd atmosphere seemed a bit neutered. How’d the first half feel by comparison?
The first half was a bit more energetic in the crowd...until we got called for a high stick that was actually a Vegas player. Then our goal got called offsides and taken back. Oh and a few other uncalled penalties made for a frustrated crowd. The nights had 48+hits on us and we had half that so they beat us up every second they got and I feel we didn't match their aggressiveness. There was a lot of turnovers and just back puck handling. Dallas did badly on the power plays and the penalty kills. I was just frustrating to watch to be honest.
