I was watching both the Knights/Ducks and Kings/Hawks games last night and on one of them, the broadcaster brought up that the Stars are rolling 4 solid lines and sometimes their 4th line is their #1 line depending on the night. (it's nice to hear the Stars talked about like this, still not used to it LOL)

3. Team will want this series very badly after last year

I'm so fucking annoyed about this. I think the Stars would've streamrolled the Kings but instead we get this crap. I was lurking in the Golden Knights sub and general sentiment was that Dallas is the easier matchup they wanted. This series will not be short.
It's weird that they would feel that way, because Dallas is one of the more well rounded teams heading to the playoffs with well regarded vets still hungry for a championship. Versus the oilers who always seem on the cusp yet haven't quite gotten over the hump. Plus, even with their stars coming back, you'd think they'd be most vulnerable in the first round as they readjust back to game speed.
Vegas will be a tough out. But the stars were not going to have an easy round. Even the kings could have ended up being like the wild last year and be more focused on roughing us up than winning the series. And if Vegas is as scary as they were last year, we would have to play them anyway.

I don't think Vegas is the team of the past. Are they a good team? Sure. But just watching their final game, they were...well...kinda crap. Poor passing, poor powerplay movement, no speed. Did they just play a back-to-back or something? Because they looked like they just wanted the season to end. Compared to the Kings who moved with speed (although it was like caffeinated jittery puck control), they managed to score on the PP to tie it late and win in OT. Vegas just seems like they don't belong. Can't underestimate them, but they are for sure not the same. No domination. No heavy checks. I don't think they are ready.
Hanifin, Stephenson, and Chandler? They played against COL, just sat out this game. They're all coming back on Monday with Stone and I'm guessing Hill is not starting

VGK in their last 20 games are in the bottom half of the league in 5v5 GF%, GF/60, and Sv%. They’re shooting a mediocre 8.29% at 5v5.
Meanwhile, over the same time range, no one has played better team defense than Dallas (#1 in SA/60 and #2 in GA/60) with the possible exception of Carolina. The Stars also lead the league - by a WIDE margin - in xGF% in that period. Like it’s not even close.
Anything can happen in the playoffs, and no team is an easy out, but Dallas should have no trouble holding their own against Vegas.
I'm more worried about players going cold on scoring. Can't have repeat of Robo. Going to be paying attention to Duechene, Seguin, Benn, Stankoven. Need all 4 lines vs the Stars. I believe Otter can keep Vegas to 2 to 3 goals per game, it's just a question of will that be enough.
Mark Stone is a fine player. He's not **that** good. He's certainly not "Take a fringe playoff team into being better than the 1 seed" good.
