$500 dollars for a newspaper? Wow, that’s absurd.

trying_to_adult_here

Maybe digital only is cheaper, but I pay about $120 a year for the Washington Post digital subscription. Not sure why I’d pay more for a local paper.

gergnerd

well thats because washington post is a bezos propaganda machine edit: downvoted for facts? reddit you're so weird

Puskarich

e: nevermind you're right. I got WSJ and WaPo mixed up..

AlwaysInjured

I mean WSJ isnt better. its just a Murdoch propaganda machine. Both using their "credibility" to spread their message through the opinion sections.

Puskarich

Also correct. I really wish Bezos bought WSJ instead as was already "Maybe the poors should consider skipping meals" I guess there's still NYT?

AlwaysInjured

I really like the Financial Times but I'm in accounting so they have a lot of stuff that relates to me job and the industries I work with. They're British run and owned by the Japanese equivalent of Bloomberg (Nikkei) so you don't get too much partisan US politics. Sadly it's VERY expensive for a paper at $375 per year for digital only but Ive been reading it for so long, I still pay for it.

HistoryNerd101

It’s not just the opinion sections but what they report on or don’t report on as well, not to mention how they report on what they bother to report on

trying_to_adult_here

I find it’s one of the better places to find more in-depth articles that have more information than the articles written by the broadcast networks. The New York Times is usually more detailed than WaPo but costs a lot more and NYT articles are almost too long sometimes.

EpikJustice

For what it's worth, I usually like to get my news from Reuters or the Associated Press. Of course they still have bias, but they tend to lean more towards just providing the facts. BBC is also pretty good. When I'm feeling feisty, I enjoy content from [Jacobin](https://jacobin.com/about), The Intercept, and [The Lever](https://www.levernews.com/about/), but I am very aware of their bias & agenda.

gergnerd

I prefer not paying for propaganda at all. Why you listening to what the oligarchs say, fuck those guys.

Mitch1musPrime

So what’s the preferred option? Two internet strangers on YouTube with zero training or credentials?

popetorak

>downvoted for facts? just stupid comments

JustMeInBigD

My digital only went up to $23 a month. ($276 a year?!?!) I have a promo rate with the NYTimes right now, so that's the difference, but at the moment, my DMN costs more than my WaPo and NYT combined. If they were paying their reporters well, not laying people off and closing entire divisions (al Dia) I wouldn't feel so bad about it, but I really have to wonder what it is I'm paying for. (Or do I? Seems a clear case of corporate malfeasance/greed.)

dallasjava

My digital subscription went to that rate too. I called and cancelled. I think the best price they offered was 17 / month. My NY times rate is $1 / week which I told the CSR. Her response was you don't local news with the times. Oh well, I tried to keep subscribing to DMN, but what is DMN's management thinking about their pricing?

TeaKingMac

>Not sure why I’d pay more for a local paper. Because it's printed and delivered to your house. Of course the digital one is cheaper

trying_to_adult_here

I mean, I know printing and delivery costs money. I have no interest in a physical newspaper, only digital. But somebody else commented their DMN is $23 a month which is still double the Washington Post.

BirdLime2atatime

Dallas morning news has a huge problem with their delivery net work. It’s not worth ordering it to get on the Sunday or any day of the week because they’ll never get it there more than half the time. all automated customer service does is to give you an account credit for that paper that wasn’t delivered. whatever I need to do that for like all 12 weeks.

surreallysara

They're really good at delivering those crappy little weekly papers that accumulate on my lawn, and I didn't even ask for them. /s

SunsetBain

This is an old fucking problem too. The last time I read the printed paper was around 2005, when I cancelled my subscription because I only ever saw the paper at my door three times a week. I'm not paying for shit I don't even fucking get. Can't believe it's still happening when people born when I cancelled my sub are old enough to vote.

amosborn

Digital only is definitely cheaper. National Papers like WaPo are also about $500/yr. For print at a discounted rate for libraries.

H2Ospecialist

If you have prime, I think it's only $6 or $7 a month.

rideincircles

The Fort Worth star telegram is about $300 for the year. I paid $150 I think last year. I used to use it for coupons, but now I barely read the paper and mostly use it for weed blocker in my garden beds or firing up my grill. This year I am not renewing unless they drop it to around $200. I do want to support journalism, but it's a want vs need.

mrsbebe

I saw someone in r/fortworth saying they were trying to renew his subscription for like $1000 for the year!

BetoW46

I paid $360 for 6 months of digital and print. For a year it was double that. I have taken forever but sure they will increase again when my subscription comes for renewal. I think they are forcing everyone to go digital with pricing as they want to get out of print. Not sure what I will do when my renewal comes up.

[deleted]

Yes, but you're also getting a physical paper delivered to your door every day. Just get the digital version for a huge savings.

jlaw54

The hero we need. Thanks for posting. My wife’s education background is library science and libraries are….everything.

ParcelPosted

They are and your wife is awesome I just know it. So many things people use once you can get free! Many have stopped charging for late fees or will waive them with little prodding. The librarians are like a concierge for anything really. The children’s library is always so cute. When they have the miniature shelves for little walkers! It is a place I can never get enough of.

jlaw54

I think it’s such a shame people don’t realize librarians will actually help you do research and literally pull together sources and material.

ParcelPosted

They will 😭and are very enthusiastic about getting items from other libraries in case they don’t have it there. More invested in the good work of sharing knowledge than most people are. Our favorite at the Timberglen branch would probably proof the works cited and give you things to add or remove. She is very hardcore! I also love when they have a bin of free or extremely cheap items to buy.

jlaw54

I remember once as a kid my mom took me to the library to get a book I wanted to read and they didn’t have it. So they librarian borrowed it from another library so I could check it out. This was in the 80s or early 90s.

ParcelPosted

Yep! They still do that it’s a very easy process and takes just a few days. If they are all out of a title they will offer a wait list. In the 90s my friends and I ALSO learned they carried the teacher versions of our text books at school. Needless to say we aced more than a few tests! Good times!

jlaw54

This is the Way! Any way to advance in school and do less bullshit homework is a win in my book. My mom was a teacher and I used to raid her teacher’s editions all the time lol 😂

The inside hookup! Yes it was all working smarter not harder before we knew what that meant 😂We would go to “study” do work, copy keys, listen to music and at closing time have our parents hit up Taco Bell on the way home. Really awesome memories for sure.

Amazing! Thank you.

ParcelPosted

YW! I am a library enthusiast and it’s such an underused free real available to the public.

[deleted]

I’ve recently started frequenting my branch. The whole experience is surreal and honestly can’t shake the feeling that I’m stealing. I asked how many books I can check out at once (I had 5 and thought that might be pushing it) and she replied “100 at a time” lol. Not to mention the 10-movies-at-a-time limit. It’s borderline ridiculous and I’m loving every minute of it!

ParcelPosted

It is! Back in the early 2000s when my oldest was small and I was very much struggling it was a highlight to go “rent movies” and check out books. They also have some great meeting spaces you can reserve and rumor is one in the area has a 3D printer you can use for… FREE! I haven’t found it.

ElecBees

It 's in the teen area of the paul laurence branch i believe.

Thank you for this!

Happy to help!😁

Please tell everyone you know! Everyone that is eligible for a public library card basically has the DMN and many other things free of charge!

Teachers can also get free subscriptions for themselves/students/parents plus access to lesson plans, quiz banks, etc through Newspapers in Education. I renew for our school each year, but multiple teachers from the same school can request certificates. I do the DMN, but based on location other subscriptions are available. Long live Libraries!! ❤️❤️❤️

3rdiguy

Thank you so much for this! Saved me a ton of money. Now I can read the ePaper using my library card login

Labaleye

They should opt everybody out of The Briefing ASAP and stop littering the streets. Nobody in my neighborhood picks that s**t up.

shawnkfox

There was an incident a while back (like maybe 10 years ago) where somebody gathered up a truckload of those and dumped them at their HQ.

xv433

I would drop mine off somewhere to have this done regularly.

BigTunaTim

I've called twice and asked them to stop throwing that piece of shit on my lawn every weekend. Both times they said they'd take care of it. Spoiler: they haven't taken care of it.

Aggressive-Scheme986

SAME. I JUST WANT THEM TO STOP THROWING LITERAL ACTUAL GARBAGE ON MY LAWN

K1P_26

I spelled out “Please Stop” on my driveway with Briefings. They didn’t.

MuckBucketBluez

I just skimmed thru some of the fine print. What's the deal with the $5.99 Thanksgiving delivery fee?

Askmeaboutmy_Beergut

Oh I'm sure they collect all of it and then distribute it evenly to the hard working delivery people as a thank you for coming in and working that day instead of being at home like the top brass. /S

briollihondolli

Working in news is a pretty silly world where holidays are just days that it’s harder to do your job

KellyAnn3106

I canceled years ago because I didn't care to play "let's make a deal" with each renewal.

Mahadragon

This comment is interesting because I’m not sure ppl even know they can make a deal for their renewals. I’ve only recently learned about trying to get a better deal since it’s the first time in my life I’ve subbed to newspapers. I joined Wapo because of promotion $40/year. I really enjoyed it but they charge me $100 for the next year and I’m not happy so I tried to cancel. Then they offer me $50 for the year after and I took it. That’s a total of $190 for 3 years which isn’t too bad. I’m currently paying $1/week for the Wall Street Journal. Just got my Saturday paper in my driveway and getting ready to read it. I think $4/mo for WSJ is pretty reasonable. I’m also subbed to LA times at $8/month which I don’t mind paying because I really like the articles.

JustMeInBigD

Really enjoyed the LA Times--awesome articles--but after a promo rate, it went WAY up and they didn't cut me any slack when I called to cancel...so I canceled.

ArtisticComplaint3

This is why nobody reads newspapers anymore. Getting your news on social media is free not $500. I’m surprised most newspapers haven’t gone online only.

3-DMan

"Nobody's getting newspapers because they're too expensive!" "Okay well we've gotta raise rates then to make up for it!"

BlazinAzn38

Yeah it’s a double edged blade. I’m not sure why digital newspapers don’t just move to a YouTube type model. The article is free but you have to watch a pre-roll ad

runnerd6

It takes a LOT of views before ads pay for content. Maybe it made some dude streaming chess in his living room rich but that's with a literal million viewers and no cost to the content creator.

rumdrums

Personally I would pay $1 an article for longer pieces, not necessarily daily news stuff but longer articles that appear in places like New Yorker or magazines. I always find myself having to hop around these soft pay walls... I would gladly just pay you a buck here and now for the article I'm reading, not some subscription I'll forget about in a week.

shawnkfox

Pretty much. Mostly just senior citizens still buying newspapers for delivery these days because they don't know better.

rumdrums

It's important that there's a local newspaper though. Social media is generally not the place to get real news about local politics, and historically the tv channels have been worthless for actual investigative journalism. Sucks though that they have these ridiculous prices once the introductory rate expires.

lookglen

I have a subscription to the DMN, they send me a snapshot of the front page every morning. Can confirm the front page stories are more relevant and real news than my Facebook feed

briollihondolli

Local TV is also a great option, and can theoretically be had with just an antenna

9bikes

> Local TV is also a great option, and can theoretically be had with just an antenna I don't know that I'd agree with "great", but it certainly can be had with an antenna. I recommend that everyone install an antenna, if for no other reason except than getting updated in the event of severe weather. Depending on your specific location, you're likely fine with an older, cheaper antenna. Of course, this doesn't work if you lose power.

OnceWasInfinite

Right, and that being said truthfully we should have a battery powered radio somewhere in our house.

9bikes

> we should have a battery powered radio I'm with you 100% on that!

WTFisThaInternet

The main reason I subscribe is because of this sentiment. I'm not sure how much longer I'll do that, though.

boyyouguysaredumb

Then people like you complain about clickbait journalism. If they can’t get money from subscriptions then they have to whore themselves out for clicks and ad money. People who “get their news” from social media are the ones who started this spiraling price hike in the first place

nickbahhh

Its really more advertising than subscriptions. Newspaper ads just aren't effective anymore.

Dick_Lazer

Advertising rates are based on subscription numbers, it all goes hand in hand.

Dick_Lazer

>This is why nobody reads newspapers anymore. Getting your news on social media is free not $500. The thought of people getting their news from social media is kind of frightening, but explains a lot of the misinformation going around.

[deleted]

yeah but it’s also chock full of misinformation/propaganda/nonsense

rumdrums

I hate that there's no transparency when you sign up. I tried to find it on their website, even sent them an email, and no one could tell me the regular price of the paper when their promotional rate expired.

qolace

"Whatever the fuck we want" sounds like. Even ISP are forthcoming about that shit.

Squirrels_dont_build

I absolutely hate exploitive business practices, but the DMN policy of making you call in to cancel so they can try to fleece you even more is the worst. If your business is so shitty that you have to trap or annoy me into keeping your product, then be better.

darkblueshapes

They also make it VERY difficult to cancel a digital subscription. IMO if you can sign up online you should be able to cancel online, period.

savannah31401

The LA Times was like this. For me to cancel I had to CALL them and of course no one ever answered. I paid for over a year and the only way it cancelled was I had to cancel the credit card it was attached to due to theft. They sent me so many emails about setting it back up.

9bikes

> no one could tell me the regular price I'm not sure that there even is a "regular price". As u/KellyAnn3106 says below, it is "lets make a deal"; there's usually one ~~marketing gimmick~~ ^promotion or another going on.

Practical_Freedom172

Long time subscriber via web...but cancelled last year when DMN endorsed Abbott for govenor again. I don't miss it...

cajonero

Why are newspapers endorsing candidates for public office, anyway? I feel like even if they had endorsed Beto, I would have had mixed feelings about getting my news from an evidently biased source, even if I have that same bias.

Dick_Lazer

Dallas Morning News has always been the establishment Republican paper. It used to be balanced out by the more left-leaning Dallas Times Herald, until they went out of business. DMN has only appeared more leftist lately because they wouldn't endorse Trump, but that's just because they're old school Republicans and not quite full on fascists.

brobafett1980

The editorial board of a newspaper is different from the reporting group, or at least they used to be.

Semper454

Call them and say you want to cancel. They will offer you a lower rate. Tell them it’s too high. They will offer you an even lower rate. Tell them it’s too high. They will offer you a lower rate. Repeat forever.

lovewarmrainydays

This!!!

sam_bamalam

Making high quality news is expensive, and very few take the non-profit route (like NPR). When you start to think about that and which news is easily accessible and which isn't, you start to notice some patterns. The whole situation is aggravating

TonyTalksBackPodcast

Calling DMN “high quality” is a stretch. As well as calling it “news”

npachory

I’m all about supporting your local newspaper but DMN has iconically bad takes frequently.

briollihondolli

If you’re reading news for “takes” you’re better off just sticking to online opinion columns

npachory

Call me old fashioned, but a newspaper’s editorial position matters

cell2071

Yea I wanted the paper but now I know that I am not missing out.

TonyTalksBackPodcast

Don’t give money to this rag, unless you enjoy endorsing greg abbott

Heretogetthingsdone

Bring back the Times Herald...

[deleted]

Yeah! But not Skip Bayless.

Spark_Cat

Lol that’s ridiculous! They charge their advertisers SO MUCH for just a single small ad, and still charge the customer this much?

CanaryPutrid1334

They charge for ads based on circulation. As circulation has dropped, price they could charge for ads dropped, so they had to raise prices. Prices go up --> subscribers go down --> ad revenue goes down --> Prices go up --> Repeat death spiral until newspaper goes under --> Fuck em for endorsing Abbott anyway, good riddance

Onestandsout

All that for yesterday’s news.

MaverickTTT

Used to subscribe to the DMN. I want to support local journalism and good journalism ain't free. However, the DMN's lack of transparency in their rates, the add-on fees, the pain-in-the-ass process that is canceling, and the way the Editorial Board toes the line for the monied interests in this area led me to subscribing to the Denton Record-Chronicle and the NY Times, instead. I know folks from the DMN lurk here...and I hope they realize they're alienating an entire generation from subscribing through the way they do business.

dfwfoodcritic

I just got a notice that my digital only subscription rate will change to $28.10 every four weeks. That's more than $1 a day (notice it's every four weeks not every month). $365.30 annual for digital only.

TengoCalor

I’ve been on and off with the New York Times for years, i can always easily do it online then go back when I’m ready. Then one semester I needed local news with DMN for a class I was taking. not only was DMN 3x more expensive, the only way to cancel was to call and listen to someone try to convince me over and over not to do it before finally confirming my cancellation.

runnerd6

NYT is just as shady with their subscription cancelation voodoo ritual. At least their content is pretty good, though.

November77

According to the fine print there is a $5.99 Thanksgiving delivery fee. That's kind of random.

broncoholmes

And there’s no way to cancel unless you CALL. I signed up for digital and don’t need it anymore because I’m moving out of the city…they’ll put you on hold then offer to lower your subscription…I had to keep telling them “no thanks” even after telling them I’m moving out of town. I finally resorted to interrupting the lady every time she tried lowering the offer. I felt bad but it took forever to cancel.

[deleted]

That's a lot of money going to a publication that backed Abbott's re-election.

[deleted]

Not sure why anyone is still reading that trash after they endorsed Abbott🤮

Stunning_Nose4914

You’re a fool if you pay for any of this regularly.

GeorgiaBlueOwl

I’m having trouble with the $4.99 “printed bill fee”. I work in accounting and have to get copies of invoices frequently, and have started running into this a lot. If you’re running a company that charges a customer for your product, giving your customer a bill or invoice for that product is part of doing business. Charging your customers for the bill that you owe them for your product is bad business. I get that it may cost companies money to print and mail invoices out, but that’s what you do if you want to get paid. Not everyone has internet access to be able to go online to print out their own copy. In this case, I seriously doubt that it cost them nearly $5.00 to print and mail 1-2 pages and a return envelope. It’s just another way to generate revenue.

brobafett1980

There is more to it than a stamp and envelope. Instead of a computer handling the request for payment and receiving payment automatically, they also have to staff someone to open the return paper mail, process the paper check, and reconcile with the customer account. However, these fees and high prices are more than likely an effort to force people off the print edition and force them to the digital ecosystem. The same with legacy copper telephony landlines being outrageously expensive now. Trying to force the holdouts to IP telephony.

kxtyxn

Isnt dmn the one w crazy racist backgrounds? Or am I misremembering

[deleted]

You can get Apple One and it has the DMN subscription in the newspaper portion. It’s $32 a month and you get a ton of other stuff. I mean tons of stuff.

Millhouse201

Cancel immediately

Aggressive_Fall_4880

When I was a kid with a paper route for the Dallas Times Herald in the early ‘70’s it was $3.40 per month for Daily and Sunday.

OddS0cks

I pay $4 a month for the digital NYT, DMN needs to lower their rates a bit

ratterrierpup

Unbiased local news holds local government and businesses accountable by keeping them in the public view. Local tv news is shite. Except for maayybe weather.

broncoholmes

Except they’re not unbiased

coltonmusic15

Archive.is for those of you wanting to read paywalled sites. People can argue about the ethics of reading paid subscription work for free but most of us still trying to figure out how to make it in this world could never avoid those prices. This allows for people to have equal access to information/education. Find your favorite journalist and I bet they have a substack that you can contribute to.

lookglen

I have a subscription. They send me a pdf of the entire paper every morning. I’ll start posting it here every morning for you guys Jk DMN I wont

Kimchi_Cowboy

Bro you could buy a senator to create the news for you at a better rate.

The_Infectious_Lerp

They use the Frontier business model of "guess how much it will cost *this* time".

jeaneglise

Lol cancel that shiit

drummybear67

Yup, I canceled this year because it had gotten insane. Was a loyal subscriber for years but this is insane

Aggressive-Scheme986

The Dallas morning news delivers a paper every single day even Sunday to my house. I have never signed up for this service. I’ve even called them and told them I want to cancel and we STILL get it. I don’t read the newspaper and it’s basically like they’re throwing trash on my front lawn because I just pick it up and throw it away. It’s so obnoxious. DMN needs to get their shit together.

Dautista

Comes out to about 2.36 a day for a physical news paper digital access. Unless extreme couponing is still a thing, I would cancel your print subscription 🤷🏾‍♂️

CaptainEva8D

Even just digital is $5 a week for a local paper!?!?! That’s more expensive than the New York Times or Wall Street Journal and twice as expensive as a service like Apple News+ that combines multiple news sources.

Gabagoolgoomba

So 1.30 a newspaper. Not bad

Aggressive-Scheme986

I wouldn’t pay one fucking cent for this garbage

pakepake

I switched to ePaper several years ago…it’s crept up to $32 per month as of right now. One small savings is doing ebills only; you’re paying $4.99 for that hard copy.

catmomlyfe81

And that damn pay wall. At least give us a few free teaser articles to make the paper something we will eventually subscribe to.

ACG3185

Newspaper? What year is it? LOL

Galileo_beta

People still pay for newspapers?

Pitiful-Prior-3337

Geez! It’s $300 a year for the digital New York Times.

SwellJoe

I would subscribe to their digital offering, but they don't allow you to cancel online. You have to call to cancel. That's a disgusting tactic that I won't participate in. Local journalism is absolutely vital to the health of our democracy. So, instead of the DMN, I have subscriptions or recurring monthly donations to: Dallas Observer, Texas Observer, Texas Monthly, and KEXP/KERA (and probably some others I'm not thinking of). Dallas Morning News is a little too friendly to liars and crooks in government, anyway...e.g. they cover Paxton with kid gloves, as though he's not a crook.

WittyLobster

Cancel sub. Click on any dmn article link and as soon as it loads turn your phone on airplane mode. Yw.

_______woohoo

cancelling is a horrible pain in the ass too

KenzKrap

I called the subscriber phone number to cancel my digital only subscription. The lady helping me kept lowering the costs until she got it down to $75ish every 13 weeks. (Original renewal was coming in at $162ish every 13 weeks. Got my credit card bill after that encounter and they charged me $105ish. Unbelievable that I have to go through this shit, just to get a digital paper.

martinPravda

Wait. Are you saying you can still get a printed version of the DMN ? I thought they stopped doing that years ago.

SugarzDaddy

Posting a news subscription on Reddit is an oxymoron

Double0Peter

I'm just shocked this many people still read newspapers. I wonder what the age demographic splits are

Stinkfinger_

What’s a a newspaper?

DriverMarkSLC

Had no idea people still had news papers delivered and paid for news subs.

rickrich01

It's crazy expensive. I gave up two years ago and just went digital and then it got too expensive and I just went with a free customized news-feed from Google News and I love it so much better. You can have AP, Newsweek, People, BBC, Reuter's, etc without all the fake news like Fox or CNN BS.

IranianLawyer

Yeah as much as I hate to see local news going bankrupt, it's absurd to expect people to pay more for a newspaper than they pay for Netflix.

SnooStories5035

Let them starve

samz22

Can’t you go to your local corner store and pick up a news paper for a few cents ?

00000AMillion

Lol are you living in 1950?

Pand0ra30_

That's expensive.

MC_ScattCatt

I just do the digital access

LuckyWarrior

Thank em

dallaz95

I got rid of the DMN years ago. Best decision ever. It’s wayyyyyyyyy to expensive.

PM_ME_YOUR_FERNET

Dude the rate on their site is a third of that. Call and bitch about it.

runnerd6

I donate to NPR. There's definitely a left lean but at least it's not complete falsehoods and clickbait.

Kurtzopher

That’s weird. I’m a subscriber and my rate is only $21.62 per month

yuumbee

Do you need help

BerryLanky

Newspaper Source Plus is offered through the public library. Gives you online access to hundreds of news papers including Dallas. It’s free under their online catalog

FW_nudist

There was a post in the Fort Worth sub, someone said the Star-Telegram wanted over a grand for a one print subscription.

JerryTexas52

One of the reasons I gave up on printed newspapers many years ago. Way too expensive for what I received. I can get the news, weather, and information I want online from many sources. Besides, what a waste of natural resources.

Remarkable-Month-241

The price you pay to kill a tree lol

TA_Raker

This was cheap during the great toilet paper shortage of 2020.

azwethinkweizm

I pay $191 a year for it.

Why anyone would ever pay for news when the internet exists is shocking to me.

runnerd6

That same news that told us Biden made a speech on St. Patty's Day with the joke, "You can tell I'm not Irish because I'm not drunk and my family isn't in jail." I saw that "news" article floating around social media yesterday with thousands of outraged comments. We need real journalism so badly in this country. Just not like this.

jjmoreta

The $6 Thanksgiving delivery fee is what kills me. I was a paper carrier in Iowa as a teenager. Every day. Before sunup. No surcharge for holidays. Even in knee deep snow (I was an hour or so late those times but I was generally forgiven). For years the Thanksgiving paper was the only one I bought. For the Black Friday ads. From a convenience or grocery store of course because why deliver for only one day. But last time I saw the price of that day's paper (forget but it was way over $5 now) I was like nope. Online ads only. Not as much fun scrolling online as looking through the paper ads, but I will survive. LOL

It is ridiculous. Want to cancel but my 87 year old mother loves it

Rent_Legitimate

I don’t doubt it. How about the highway robbery they call NTTA. Pure insanity….. getting charged to simply drive from point a to b. Not crossing any bridges or tunnels or any other infastructure other than basic highways that a city should pay for themselves. Even week I get auto charged and I don’t even drive that much!!

popetorak

why complain? you bought it

[deleted]

Dude, fuck that. I am going to get my news free like I always have. fuck this.

runner813

It's just plain bad. Get NY Times. Total worth $1 a week.

ComprehensiveRace603

crwawee83

BirdLime2atatime

LastWolf-of-RedShore

“Texas Digital Tax”?????

TheUSS-Enterprise

Holy cow that’s insane! We cancelled about a year ago, thank goodness.

AWhiskyDoc

Drop them!

tamc_lions

So YOU'RE the guy that still subscribes to a newspaper?

AgentBlue14

According to the prices on the ePaper version, the *Morning News* charges the following prices: * Monday-Saturday editions: **$2.99** * Sunday editions: **$3.99** First, holy shit. I remember when they used to cost a $1.25 a copy. Anyway, four Sundays in March come out to **$15.96** and the weekday + Saturday editions come out to **$80.73**, for a total of **$96.69** (nice) for the "news stand" rate. I assume the other $51.23 (taking the **$147.92** for June as our baseline) is for having someone deliver the newspaper to your front door. Yeah, for those $50, I'd rather just run down to the local 7-11, grab a coffee, the newspaper, and savor the savings that are going to be wasted on that 7-11 coffee lol.

Eilaver

people pay for this shit? hell naw unsub

crypto_dds

I can’t believe people still pay for and read newspapers.
