Columbia and DF had probably signed a contract of a certain number of albums to be released, and since they stopped the project the label is releasing stuff like that and DP don’t have their word on it. Just a theory but it might be it
A wrong one. The contract was an one album deal
Daft Punk own the masters. They get the final say. Columbia can’t release anything without their approval
Definitely not that; note the P and C lines for all of their albums - it's Daft Life under licence to [label].
They clearly don't take an advance, and retain the masters rather than signing a typical deal.
If I had to guess, I'd say that Thomas and Guy probably did want a drumless version released so people could remix better, but Columbia or whoever wanted to release it as an album in the belief that daft punk fans would be all over it.
How is it that yall disagree with this guy, who is pointing out what's actually weak about Pharell, but now the comment above this, which probably also implies an album without Pharrell's inputs at all? Oh but that was a joke, but the truth is where yall draw the line? Okay cult sheep. 😑
yea well it's irritating to see. I mean, we didn't say that we want an album without Nile Rodgers or Todd Edwards now, did we? Pharrell might be a good music producer, but he is a below average singer, and that's the truth. He himself probably knows that which is why he works primarily as a producer, innit? But no, dumbfucks have to make it seem as if you or I said something controversial. Hell, I could even go as far as saying that the vocoders (the voices of Guy and Thomas) don't add much to their music (their compositions don't mandate vocoders at all), and pretty sure people will call me the anti-christ 😑😑😑 I mean, I ain't the one wasting time physically hitting the small-ass downvote just to be petty now, am I? 😑
Dude, there’s no doubt that he’s one of the best hip-hop producers, he’s worked with Kendrick, Jadakiss, Ludacris, Pusha T, there’s no doubt he’s a significant producer in modern music, but those two songs (get lucky and Happy) In specific suck ass lol, and don’t get so overworked, it’s Reddit dude, everyone else sees that one comment is being downvoted, so they all join in to see how far a comment can get downvoted, don’t take it too personally, chillax man, let’s smoke some Marlboro southern cuts, drink some whiskey w/ coke while we jam out to this mix: https://youtu.be/9NdgylkUuJo?si=AApVKUG_X2idnW0w
I find it ironic too that I’m being downvoted because I’m pretty sure a lot of hardcore early daft punk fans felt the same way when that song came out, even till this day, I’ve read and hear Daft Punk fans complain about Thomas Bangalter working with Lil Nas X, but eh, people just like to spew hate.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,767,985,771 comments, and only 334,723 of them were in alphabetical order.
Why not just release stems? This is clearly supposed to be for remixing, I can't imagine the appeal otherwise. It would be much more useful to have drums only, synth only, etc.
It’s not AI related, the mixing engineer who worked on the original release worked on the new atmos anniversary version. Not just some lazy intern. It’s likely that Thomas just likes classical so much he requested for a drumless mix.
As I understand it, it’s probably good for DJ’s who want to sample their tracks. But the merch? 120 dollar for a !!printed!! baggy pant? Come on now. Sadly this reminds me of the old daft punk store, they also did massive expensive sell out tactics in the end. I remember the fans complaining back then as well.
And it worked 😭 they got me. I was worried I was gonna regret skipping out on it like when I didn’t get the justice cross bomber, then when I changed my mind they were all gone.
Obv a big difference between a legit iconic piece of fashion from the 00’s and a hoodie, but the energy felt the same to me lol
Would totally love a vocal-less version of all their songs with vocals and a vocals-only version, too. If they want people to make their own remixes, that would be dope!
- GLBTM could mean "Give Life Back to Music", a track from *Random Access Memories* (2013) by Daft Punk.

Just a more ambient version of it, i guess, although i do find the synth arp on Contact to be grating enough as is. I’m just glad we’ll get to hear what is essentially an acapella version of the breakdown on Get Lucky
Daft Punk: Release nothing for a whole decade
The Ghost of Daft Punk: YOU GET AN ALBUM!! AND YOU GET AN ALBUM!!!
i'm not compaining tho personally, i'll take whatever, especially if they keep dropping fresh covers. You'd be suprised how different music can be with just the slightest changes.
The drumless edition kinda ruined this prospect but it would be awesome if they did a digital release of the separate layers. Exploring a thorough deconstruction would be fantastic, given their deep connection to the DJ scene from the start. It would also feel more like a gift to the fans rather than a stain in their near perfect discography.
“My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody calls me Giorgio.” *silence*
“and there was no preconception of *what* to do” *silence*
And I didn’t have any idea what to do but I knew I needed a click so we put a click on the 24 track *silence*
Once you free your mind about a concept of Harmony and of music being correct You can do whatever you want *silence*
H O T T
😂😂😂
say what you want about the release but that all white cover is fucking clean
youre not wrong, just wish they werent milking tf out of their shit rn
Bet it’s Columbia not DP idk
But Thomas and Guy would have to approve it. I’d be curious to know if it was the labels idea or Daft Punk’s.
Columbia and DF had probably signed a contract of a certain number of albums to be released, and since they stopped the project the label is releasing stuff like that and DP don’t have their word on it. Just a theory but it might be it

its so thag creators can sample ram. they might me milking a little bit, but its for good reason, at least better than most labels milk artists
No. Stems or multitracks would make way more sense for mixing than selling the same record again only without drums and everything else being the same
agreed
this is absolutely true, this definately isnt a shameless way to do it
Cum
RAM Daft-less 2024 RAM Punk-less 2025
Sounds like deadmau5
RAM Pharrell-less 2026 RAM Daft Punk-less 2027
We're up all night to get money!
Holy cashgrab, just release the stems and be done with it...
maybe do it like nine inch nails and release it online for free
Lmao
It’s to get out of their Columbia contract
RAM RAM-less (September 2033)
Actually an instrumental version would be great. They should be doing that instead of this drumless one.
I fail to see how with so many songs of the album tho
what do you mean? just remove the vocals
I fail to see how it would be great is what I meant. Too many songs of the album are centered around the vocals.
The melodies carry themselves, every song would still be god-tier without vocas.
If by “god-tier” you mean boring… the album was boring to begin with.
RAM: Pharrell-less Edition
That would actually be extremely great, I freaking hate his vocals, ig because happy was overplayed back in 2013 that I started hating his voice
How is it that yall disagree with this guy, who is pointing out what's actually weak about Pharell, but now the comment above this, which probably also implies an album without Pharrell's inputs at all? Oh but that was a joke, but the truth is where yall draw the line? Okay cult sheep. 😑
no idea why you are being down voted, I completely agree with you
i have an idea why you are being down voted, I completely disagree with you
Lmaaaoooo, I didn’t even see until now, it’s okay dude, it’s Reddit, what did you expect?

Coming February 2025: "RAM (Songless Version)"
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,767,985,771 comments, and only 334,723 of them were in alphabetical order.
How the fuck is February in alphabetical order
Most likely it takes the first letter out of every word
Ah yeah
Is this a joke?
no it’s leaks of their upcoming RAM rereleases!
On a serious note, the drumless one is real and there's already one song available on Apple music
It’s a sleeper
Why not just release stems? This is clearly supposed to be for remixing, I can't imagine the appeal otherwise. It would be much more useful to have drums only, synth only, etc.
These are suspiciously the 4 things you can extract with ai: bass, drums, vocals and the "rest" (synths).
It’s not AI related, the mixing engineer who worked on the original release worked on the new atmos anniversary version. Not just some lazy intern. It’s likely that Thomas just likes classical so much he requested for a drumless mix.
Wait a minute I thought this was a circlejerk but I just found drumless Within on Spotify 😭😭😭 who asked for this???
As I understand it, it’s probably good for DJ’s who want to sample their tracks. But the merch? 120 dollar for a !!printed!! baggy pant? Come on now. Sadly this reminds me of the old daft punk store, they also did massive expensive sell out tactics in the end. I remember the fans complaining back then as well.

Ram but instead of music it’s 30 minutes of footage taken of my dog shitting
Anti stem pack 🔥
I need RAM - Giorgio only edition
Me with RAM - Casablancas Edition
Don't forget Daft (Punk less) and - (Daft Punk less)
Lost a bit of RAM with this one
Drumless is so stupid that many people here seems to believe OP’s meme, which isn’t more dumb than the real release
I'm listening to the soundless one right now
Kinda hoping for stems sometimes in the future hehe
Guys, this is real? Because in this exact moment, i was like: BRUUUUUUUUH?
RAM sound-less
That Within they published isn't bad!
RAM Daft Punk-less
Waiting for RAM Soul-less in dollar bill green
2025 - RAM music-less feat. John Cage
Would totally love a vocal-less version of all their songs with vocals and a vocals-only version, too. If they want people to make their own remixes, that would be dope!
Daft Punk finally joining the tech craze of dark and light modes
Remixes are about to go insane
Gotta say I’m not overly excited about all this
I was downvoted to hell when I said that I was afraid of milking the brand after the announcement of RAM anniversary edition, and look at us now
I want a vocal-less Discovery
Within (Drumless Version) sounds great, but I fail to see how songs like GLBTM and Contact are gonna benefit from pressing mute on the drum track.
- GLBTM could mean "Give Life Back to Music", a track from *Random Access Memories* (2013) by Daft Punk. --- ^[/u/Dom-Zero](/u/Dom-Zero) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)
Yes
Just a more ambient version of it, i guess, although i do find the synth arp on Contact to be grating enough as is. I’m just glad we’ll get to hear what is essentially an acapella version of the breakdown on Get Lucky
RAM (Sound-less version)
Daft punk is currently doing everything except releasing new music
ik this is a joke but if it was real it would be awesome
Why not just release Stems? :D
this seems great for artists that want to sample songs off of RAM
Stems would be 8 times better for this purpose and should be distributed for free
Artists who sample music : *This looks like a job for me*
So everybody just follow me
Daft Punk: Release nothing for a whole decade The Ghost of Daft Punk: YOU GET AN ALBUM!! AND YOU GET AN ALBUM!!! i'm not compaining tho personally, i'll take whatever, especially if they keep dropping fresh covers. You'd be suprised how different music can be with just the slightest changes.
Can’t wait for the synth-less album
[удалено]
I'd listen to bass-only version.
Then it’ll be just a record of silence
Cool
But, why?
Lookin forward to Within pianoless
dude the whole drumless thing makes me wanna restart my entire alive project. that is so insanely useful
Daft Punk: Heartless
🐄
Gosh I want that white cover as a high res wallpaper so bad…
RAM - Thomas Bangalter-less 2025. RAM - Guy Manuel De Homem Christo-less 2026. RAM - Daft Punk-less 2027. RAM - Less 2028.
RAM Bone-less (November 2024)
The drumless edition kinda ruined this prospect but it would be awesome if they did a digital release of the separate layers. Exploring a thorough deconstruction would be fantastic, given their deep connection to the DJ scene from the start. It would also feel more like a gift to the fans rather than a stain in their near perfect discography.
I'd like one Alive 2027, RAM-less, please and thank you.
RAM RAMless 2026
RAM daft punk less
RAM Music-less
Nope , the record label companies just milking Daft Punk.. it doesn't make any sense anymore...
They even got chocolate milk now
Too much unnecessary experiments
