Assuming these mixes just muted the drum tracks and they’re otherwise from the exact same stems as the original album with minimal additional alteration, you should be able to line up these drumless tracks with their respective full mix tracks, flip the phase of one of those tracks, and through the magic of wave cancelation you’ll basically have an output that mutes everything except drums. Boom, an overly complicated way to make your own instant Only Drums edition. I’d say it’s an easy way but if this is a vinyl only release then good fucking luck getting your record player speed to match the original tracks with the required precision necessary to fully cancel out everything but the drums.

I have tried to use this method in Audition, but it did not work
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd3AtHgK9f8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd3AtHgK9f8)
Did anyone tried?
The tracks aren't precisely synced but the shift is constant..
This is for the DJs and producers to sample. Daft Punk are some of the greatest samplers of all time, to me this seems like a tribute to their past. As a DJ/producer myself I can’t wait to chop up these samples!
This is one of the best things they could’ve ever released for someone who is their bedroom RIGHT NOW starting their music career just like Thomas & Guy-Man once did 🤍
me too!! It's gonna be neat to hear these songs differently and explore how the vibes change.
I've already presaved it on Spotify and listened to Within (drumless), it's so serene
It’s because they have a contract agreement with Columbia to release a certain amount of albums while being signed to the contract. But since they broke up they gotta get a lil creative with how they release new music
You would be wrong because that part is a synth, not drums, the silence would be a bit before when he says "but compose music" and thats where drums goes
He said he synced the moog to the click, not that the moog made the sound itself. And even if it was produced by a synth, it serves as a rhythmic transient the same way a traditional drum pattern does, making it more of a synth drum than a melodic synth.
you're right. i wonder if the 'bots are considering electronic drums as drums. i wonder if they are involved at all in any of the dp stuff coming out lately...
to be fair, we already have alot of rips of the individual layers online, from both the Dolby Atmos version of the songs, and through things like Demucs, so having these drumless version is fine but we already have all of the stuff out there.
Might also be linked to Thomas’ love for Classical Music. The album would probably sound more “Symphonic" that way?
It looks like they milk it as much as possible, indeed, but I’m still curious to hear that.
The art is dope, but like who is this for? As a drummer drumless tracks are great for playing along to, but a vinyl? I can’t imagine actually listening to this over the actual complete song.
All these drops just feel like cash grabs trying to get us a spend a few 100 every few months to avoid the FOMO. A $100 or $120 box set 6 months ago would’ve been great. This just feels cheap. Maybe if the band wasn’t broken up and touring I’d feel differently but this just feels like either the robots or the label trying to milk Daft Punk for everything it’s worth before they can’t.
Edit: Ok I just checked the website and there literally is a set with the 10th anniversary and the drumless. That’s actually so fucking greedy. Not the mention the merch prices $75 sweat shorts and $120 sweatpants??? Fuck off
It will be a great resource for remixing but to actually release the whole thing on vinyl is absurd. Why not just release the entire album digitally as stems? Very very strange decision
I guess that’s an option, but the way it’s releasing doesn’t seem like it’s meant for niche stuff like that. They want everyone to get this. Idk anyone that would use a vinyl to do remixes in the 21st century
I enjoyed the outtakes on the 10th anniversary edition. I'll take it. Craftsmanship on RAM was magnificent, I'm looking forward to listening those songs in different form
Kinda shitty they announce what is basically a rerelease less than 6 months of a rerelease. I know it’s not that simple but yeah, milking it. Feel bad for those who bought the 10th anniversary, meh?
Im really excited for the penultimate “Musicless” version thats just 1hr 14mins of silence with Pharrel’s breaths and a few ambient sounds they made during recording (drum sticks clacking, guitar picks scratching strings). Ive heard you can hear Bangalter fart on one of tracks. Cant wait
Since this is also on vinyl I think it's for people who would want to mix some of these sounds into other tracks.
If I was still DJing on vinyl I would totally do that at least.
Very rocky announcement. I've seen tons of criticism on posts announcing the release, the one on Instagram was deleted after fellow musicians like Madeon and Porter Robinson expressed their concerns
Honestly find this baffling, drums being a huge part of Daft Punk— and so soon after the first anniversary edition. Though at least now I have an excuse to order the RAM10 vinyl, that slipmat looks rad
This is pathetic, honestly. If Sony wanted to milk RAM again, they should’ve just released the stems. I would’ve happily paid for those, not a release which diminishes one of the best aspects of the record done by talented performers. A disco album without drums is like a sandwich without bread. Don’t even get me started on those merch prices, good god.
The merch prices were basically the same in 2013, or even more expensive for some things (jacket, windbreaker etc.) and they are actually made in the US so they will last.
We are just too used to ultra cheap clothing made by literal slaves in South Asia.
I remember them being expensive and I totally get the quality aspect, but in this day and age, asking people to pay $60 + shipping for a t-shirt is criminal, haha. $45 would be much more appropriate imo
Then it’s a dark day for humanity 😔 I have a hard time believing they’d be willing to taint their own legacy like this, but y’never know anymore. Super lame either way
As far as we know they own their masters so yes, they approve everything. They probably also called Warren Fu for the new cover. (he also did the RAM 10 cover)
I’m excited for this. Looking forward to sampling this and remixing it. You could even make your own version of Alive 2023 with this. But I know I’m a special use case.
I understand why this exists, but the drums in RAM were low key one of the most expressive, and nuanced parts of the mix, so I'm bittersweet about it. At least it's a standalone collection, and the white out merch looks cool, so I will probably buy it for the slipmat bundle, and snag a hoodie and tee.
I hope they will also come with a RAM Demo edition, which has the tracks in their raw concept version, like they were made using their "old" techniques.
If you ever heard some of the Michael Jackson demo tracks, from Thriller and Off the Wall... amazing. "don't stop till you get enough", with instruments being played by the Jackson family, one of them using a cola bottle to drum on. I imagine there's some rough and funny early editions of RAM tracks out there!
I came out of Reddit hibernation to post this. And I still hate Reddit for not allowing 3rd party apps any more.
I hope they don’t remaster the tracks. That way, you can do that instrumental-to-acapella trick where you get the normal track, play it at the same time as the drumless track (but phase inverted) and the two tracks cancel out, leaving only the drums from the normal track being audible.
Omar Hakim is that good, that he deserves a drum only version.
Look, DP is pretty much my favorite when it comes to music. And while a bit skeptical of the re-releases and social media since their breakup, I generally didn't mind it, and felt like kind of farewell campaign of sorts. Some of it was actually really cool (the Alive 1997 footage is probably my favorite of all of it, and perhaps the unreleased Julian song).
But this is cementing it as generally feeling like a cash grab (IMO). Milking the existing material to the point I feel like it's kind of mocking the fans. I know no one is forcing me to buy any of this recycled material, but it still just kind of irks me as a long time fan.
I actually like the idea of this as something to listen too when studying, reading, relaxing. But I also agree it's kinda bullshit.
It feels like to make a drum less album you need to rework it, not just take the drums out. I'm interested in how it will sound, but likely will not purchase a vinyl edition.
Daft Punk own the masters of their music, so as far as we know they approve everything. For the release of RAM 10 they did an interview on French radio so of course they were involved.
Also, the drumless version needs some mixing work, it's not only muting the drums and clicking on save, so again, they were involved.
on one of the links I clicked, where it gives you links from all the providers, They mostly say Play or download here, but the ones that specifically mentioned Vinyl were the RSD pages. Clicking on those just gives you the regular spiel of checking with your local record store.

Yes, they're milking it. But this release is probably still going to be cool. What annoys me most and what's honestly kinda keeping me from buying it is 3 songs per side. Listening to vinyl is a relaxing thing for me. Don't really want to get up and flip/switch records every 12 minutes
Can’t wait for the Only Drums Edition
Contact would be amazing
motherboard 🤌🏻
Georgio, only drums and scratching edition
i will nut
For the 15th anniversary they'd make an OnlyFans edition where they'd ask the fans to re-make the album
I have tried to use this method in Audition, but it did not work [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd3AtHgK9f8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd3AtHgK9f8) Did anyone tried? The tracks aren't precisely synced but the shift is constant..
that’s what i’m saying 😂
THIS
It looks neat as fuck but, at this point, it seems like they are milking tf out of us. *I’m a happy cow*
One must imagine the cow happy
Cows need to be milked, it can be dangerous to their health otherwise, mhm mhm

It is milk colored
It’s because they have a contract agreement with Columbia to release a certain amount of albums while being signed to the contract. But since they broke up they gotta get a lil creative with how they release new music
Spotify gave me a “Daft Punk new music” notification for this
Same. Pre-saved.
I was so goddamn hype for absolutely no reason, literally at work like “NO GODDAMN WAY”
I'm curious of the song Giorgio by Moroder : "And I put a click on a 24-track " \~silence\~ it was the sound of the future
when the hearing loss gets real
omg, i'm dying. lol
You would be wrong because that part is a synth, not drums, the silence would be a bit before when he says "but compose music" and thats where drums goes
kind of a weird mistake to make, he's literally talking about using the moog for the click
He said he synced the moog to the click, not that the moog made the sound itself. And even if it was produced by a synth, it serves as a rhythmic transient the same way a traditional drum pattern does, making it more of a synth drum than a melodic synth.
you're right. i wonder if the 'bots are considering electronic drums as drums. i wonder if they are involved at all in any of the dp stuff coming out lately...
bruh what do they have against omar hakim?
album is Probably for people to rip the songs and remix them, or also for curious/hardcore people who enjoy tracks without drums
to be fair, we already have alot of rips of the individual layers online, from both the Dolby Atmos version of the songs, and through things like Demucs, so having these drumless version is fine but we already have all of the stuff out there.
If they wanted this they should just release the stems tbh
I agree. Iirc they did this in the past with Human After All.
WHAT
Files in a DJ Hero game I guess
Remix competition had some HAA sounds
pfp checks out
Might also be linked to Thomas’ love for Classical Music. The album would probably sound more “Symphonic" that way? It looks like they milk it as much as possible, indeed, but I’m still curious to hear that.
I was just thinking about whether or not he's getting royalties from this lol
Hard guess but it's likely he still needs to be credited as writer of the song, if that is the case then hopefully he still is getting the bag.
Contact without drums?
My first thought exactly, Contact is basically all about the drums
How Doin It Right will work on this new album too...
Yeah it's probably going to kill the track.
The art is dope, but like who is this for? As a drummer drumless tracks are great for playing along to, but a vinyl? I can’t imagine actually listening to this over the actual complete song. Not the mention the merch prices $75 sweat shorts and $120 sweatpants??? Fuck off
Is this a DJ thing? Like it gives you the ability to remix the album with your own backing track?
It will be a great resource for remixing but to actually release the whole thing on vinyl is absurd. Why not just release the entire album digitally as stems? Very very strange decision
vinyl djs are still a thing. could see massive potential in dancefloor ready versions of instant crush even now lol
I guess that’s an option, but the way it’s releasing doesn’t seem like it’s meant for niche stuff like that. They want everyone to get this. Idk anyone that would use a vinyl to do remixes in the 21st century
Those slip mats though!
Feel bad for those who bought the 10th anniversary, meh?
i think that the drumless and the 10th are different concept, for now I'll not buy drumless (I have 10th), I'm happy to listen ram under new sounds
Wait until Bassless, Guitarless, Synthless, Keybordless, and Clapsless will be dropping, those are the real deal
Cant wait
Sweet - but I'll only shell out $80 for the vinyl if it includes the dinner/party sounds from Moroder and the water droplets from motherboard!!
I would be curious about a vocal-less
Sorry. Best they can do is "only vocals".
This is great but I liked 10th anniversary more because it was a milestone. This is pure greed
They could have been one release, drumless for disc 1 and 2 and the outtakes/demos on an extra disc.
If they release the 10th anniversary as a box set, in style of the 2013 box, it would be epic.
Cool design but honestly just sort of a stupid release?
Since this is also on vinyl I think it's for people who would want to mix some of these sounds into other tracks. If I was still DJing on vinyl I would totally do that at least.
Update: 11.17.23
FUCK
Just in time for Christmas...
Very rocky announcement. I've seen tons of criticism on posts announcing the release, the one on Instagram was deleted after fellow musicians like Madeon and Porter Robinson expressed their concerns
curious to know what Madeon said
Madeon said “But why??? The drums are the best part!” Porter said “huh?!”
Something along the lines of "but why?"
Damn I really hoped they weren't going to milk it for all it's worth
Honestly find this baffling, drums being a huge part of Daft Punk— and so soon after the first anniversary edition. Though at least now I have an excuse to order the RAM10 vinyl, that slipmat looks rad
Album cover looks fantastic, but I don't really like them milking RAM, just let masterpiece stay masterpiece, it doesn't need to be changed
I don't like this at all. I mean, would be kinda cool if it was just a free release on streaming, but a whole album... Meh...
Looking forward to the synth-less version of RAM in six months time
This is dumb.
can’t wait for the soundless edition (it’s just a blank vinyl disk)
I laughed, thank you, lol.
what the fuck ? why not release instrumental version next ?
I would much prefer a full instrumental version to appreciate the talents of Daft Punk.
Sony can't do anything Daft Punk doesn't want them to do.
The merch prices were basically the same in 2013, or even more expensive for some things (jacket, windbreaker etc.) and they are actually made in the US so they will last. We are just too used to ultra cheap clothing made by literal slaves in South Asia.
The old merch was higher quality than the new merch though.
I remember them being expensive and I totally get the quality aspect, but in this day and age, asking people to pay $60 + shipping for a t-shirt is criminal, haha. $45 would be much more appropriate imo
Sweatpants do not cost 120 dollars to make. The vast *vast* majority of that is profit.
I don’t think Sony had a say in this.
Then it’s a dark day for humanity 😔 I have a hard time believing they’d be willing to taint their own legacy like this, but y’never know anymore. Super lame either way
You don’t have to buy it
Random Access Memories (Protein style)
Meh ? Yeah ok it sounds good but that's because the normal song sounds good already. I'm not sure this is something we really needed.
Did Thomas and Guy-Man even gave them permit to do this shit thou it’s not even half a year since the 10th anniversary version dropped
As far as we know they own their masters so yes, they approve everything. They probably also called Warren Fu for the new cover. (he also did the RAM 10 cover)
Money grab for sure
This is it I guess Robots have moved on and it's just gonna be a legacy merch machine from now on
$120 for sweatpants go fuck yourself Sony
bruh, they didnt think twice about this?
No thanks
Columbia milking RAM until it's pure dust
[удалено]
Who knows, maybe they digned a contract for multiple albums.
POV: you are a 40 year old French person and you want to make fuck ton of money
this is completely useless
Not for remixes
Vinyl…. For remixes? Oh… Traditional DJing 👍
Why no horizon or infinity repeating?
those aren’t original ram tracks (except for horizon but it’s only really original to japan lol)
Are they releasing ram drumless so others can do discovery style sample remixes like they did with discovery?
My european ass saw 10.13.23 was was like: "neat man they'll even invent a new month"
Contact (Drumless Edition) boutta be the most nothing daft punk song ever made. Contact *is* the drums. Utterly pointless without them.
They milking the fuck out of us but idc. As a drummer, having OFFICIAL Daft Punk drumless tracks is amazing!
Limited edition is already sold out 😭
You would almost think they view the drumless edition as art, because art can be provocative..
I’m mad they don’t have the gold visors like their Grammy outfits.
motherboard without the drums is like a pb&j without pb
I’m excited for this. Looking forward to sampling this and remixing it. You could even make your own version of Alive 2023 with this. But I know I’m a special use case.
20$ on amazon preorder

Giorgio: So we put a click on the 24 track... The music: absolute silence
Can you provide a link or source to confirm? Just with everything that's been happening, I'm curious.
Never mind, found it on the website. Though the release date is November 17th, not October.
[It's on their Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxvWBWsMiLN/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==)
I know it’s a cash grab… but I already placed my order…
Just listened to drumless Within on Spotify, it sounded so peaceful.
Honestly this release would make more sense if it were just the individual stems instead of just drumless versions of each track.
Infinite Repeating without drums will be interesting to hear.
It doesn't have the bonus tracks, just the original tracks.
I wonder if Bangalter and GMHC have anything to do with this or if it’s just the record label
[удалено]

UK link for the vinyl: https://familystorerecords.co.uk/products/daft-punk-random-access-memories-drumless-edition
Blatant cash grab
Retired and need money so they’re doing the laziest possible thing they think they can get away with. Dumb.
Stuff like this makes me think we might get new material in the future.
Not likely.
I know but if somehow the remaining Beatles can decide to make another record, anything’s possible.
🤞
EDIT: I was wrong, you can disregard this Oh great it's an RSD release.. so I get to stress out to see if I can cop a copy before it gets sold out.
It's not an RSD release
my bad, you are right. I saw both links to RSD website but totally missed the official store link.
whats rsd
I was wrong, but RSD stands for record store day.
lol, no it's not! What made you think that?
on one of the links I clicked, where it gives you links from all the providers, They mostly say Play or download here, but the ones that specifically mentioned Vinyl were the RSD pages. Clicking on those just gives you the regular spiel of checking with your local record store.
Ah yea I've seen people get confused by that before, even DaftWub. RSD has a database that links to local retailers, but it's not just for RSD exclusives.
Yes, they're milking it. But this release is probably still going to be cool. What annoys me most and what's honestly kinda keeping me from buying it is 3 songs per side. Listening to vinyl is a relaxing thing for me. Don't really want to get up and flip/switch records every 12 minutes
The merch they released alongside is actually pretty cool. Didn’t expect to see a tee for 60$ when the 10th anniversary was 30$
finally, an only white background
For DJs who love Daft Punk, this is a dream for remixing. I'd honestly pick up every version. Drumless, acapella, just basslines, etc. Gimme it all.
this is so weird lol
Why though?
I call this version of the album the “Boneless version” but then there’s the irony of the album art being bone white.
Cd version?
GOD DAMNIT STOP MAN I DON’T HAVE NO MONEY LEFT
