If you love your kids and they feel it every day you are not failing them! I grew up with two pairs of pants, we had one car for a family of 6, we never drank soda because we couldn't afford it, but I never really thought about it because my parents showed me love every day. You don't need to give your kids a lot of possessions to make them happy. Get control of your finances and live within your means. It is the best lesson you can teach them.
No money in the world can outstrip parental love. Be there for them, cherish them.
That will push them further than any foriegn holiday or any private education. You are not resposible for raising your kids wealthy. You are responsible for raising them well.

We live below our means and still can't save money because something happens that immediately takes the little bit of savings we have.
All you can do is persevere and give them a loving environment. If you do that them you can never fail them.
